After some recent updates and more discoveries, Linux (ChimeraOS) is now basically usable as a daily driver on the Lenovo Legion Go!

Note that development is still in progress, so there's still fixes and improvements required, but currently it's in a very good working state.
If you need to remap your Legion + X button to the Xbox/Home button, you can do so by editing the "/etc/handygccs/handygccs.conf" text file. Change "OSK" to "MODE", then reboot

This is awesome. My main gripe with Legion Go is the software. Would love Legion Go Hardware with Steam Software.

Agreed, I wish that the legion go had shipped with steamOS, the experience has been so much better than I expected

I can, I'm just waiting for more fixes to be added for the legion go. The handheld companion devs seem to have reverse engineered the controller, and that information might be useful for fixing things up on the legion go on linux

So is this getting you a performance boost? I'd love to see some numbers (even just what you're getting and then I can go hunt down videos of it in Windows to compare). Was settled on this, then stupid Valve and their OLED update has got me back to wavering back and forth between this and the Deck. Every video I've watched says the Legion software is by far the weakness of the system, so if I can get essentially best of both worlds this way...

I did try it out, plan on making a video on it once 45-1 is released. it'll have some additional stuff for the Legion Go

Not sure if you have the ability to test this out with a dedicated rig but does the remote play work for game streaming natively? Not a deal breaking as Moonlight handles this as well but would be nice to have the native option. Also, how does it feel when holding. More specifically do the edge dig into your hands? Saw some reddit post about folks mentioning that

At around 3 minutes you say something about the buttons and "if you set it in windows it caries over to linux" so you are dual booting? I have found the sites explaining how to load linux on this and of course you can download the windows install from lenovo directly but how are you casually booting up windows to change a button function?

it's tough to setup dual boot with chimeraOS, but it's possible. It's actually easier with another steamOS alternative, bazzite. I'll probably try to make a guide video for dual boot with bazzite

Any weirdness with slow charging while running or in suspend / hibernate / whathaveyou? (I'm not sure how you'd go about monitoring this sorry!)

ChimeraOS and SteamOS are both Linux-based, they both share similar limitations. While ChimeraOS does provide more support for GOG/Epic out of the box, it's still not the best experience.

I Would love a weekly recap on these uptades for this console to see the improvements. Would you compare the battery life to the steam deck?

steam deck currently will always be the battery life king of PC handhelds due to it's custom AMD APU. The custom chipset in the Deck is far more efficient at lower power levels, the benefit to the Legion Go is that it can get much higher performance levels at the cost of power/battery.

Buy regular laptop then. Legion will have official drivers till Lenovo will support it and Windows on handheld is trash.

I'm a Linux maximalist so I was ignoring this device mostly but good to know it can at least be fixed with chimeraOS in a way. But the price it's going for includes the windows license and thats still unacceptable to me. They should sell a version with no OS or with Linux as an option. Until then I won't bite.
