Just ordered the laptop today :) A great testing video, exciting to see what you can do on Silent Mode and Dlss/FSR! Sounds like a perfect solution for many not-too-demanding games. And makes me curious how it'll handle Starfield (not on silent mode, though... ) Thanks :)

I mean... Star Wars is about as demanding as they come, and it runs fine. So you can absolutely play current AAA games on silent mode with reasonable settings at 1600p I suspect starfield will run great :)

@@ignacio7250 Hi! i quite like it so far! The only small criticism I have is that the left upper corner of the keyboard gets warm very easily on hot days even when not playing (not too hot to touch, just warm) and that the fans on max mode can get quite loud (but it is also possible to play on balanced or quite mode). Maybe the version with the AMD processor has slightly better thermals? Otherwise, the build quality is excellent and I love the 1600p screen as well. The most demanding game I have right now is Elden Ring. And you can easily play it on full native 1600p resolution on max settings without raytracing. I personally don't care too much about framerate but it's mostly close to 60fps. Enabling raytracing lowers this to 40-50 fps and 30 in dense woodland areas (with some occasional dips below 30 fps). Keep in mind, this is on full native 1600p without DLSS or DLAA. I expect it to go much better in a game that actually supports DLSS. Maybe I'll buy Returnal soon and then I can report back in a few days... That game is very demanding and also has a raytracing and DLSS 3 option...

@@kingsonsamuel online from Lenovo India's official site. Yes I received it within 25 days. Its a beast in performance. During gaming, temp increases a bit if you play at 2k and above in ultra. Otherwise everything is top notch. In daily task and all other work things its outstanding.

I have seen both amd and intel versions of your videos. But the intel here seems to perform better in thermals. Any cooling pad used for the intel model? And should I get Intel or AMD version of this laptop, in my country only Intel is available now with 3.2k display.

they will perform similar. if you want the 3.2 k screen just get intel :) its a great screen

I think the max power limit for cards under 4080 is less than 100W. Don't remember the exact number. Perhaps Octane or Luxcore render can tax it higher.

@@riyanshrestha2888 Jarrod's tech tested, the 90W 4060 is same fast as 140W 4060. There is some kind of hardware limit for GPU's under 4080 this year. For me it's perfect, i actually plan to keep mine in silent mode and use the iGPU 90% of time.

@@riyanshrestha2888 If it actually is limited around 90W, and soon to arrive AMD slim 7 with 7840HS at base clock is only 35W. Do i really need to carry 230W heavy power brick for 125W CPU GPU combo. Lenovo has the 170W charger, like Yoga pro 9i 16" has.

Thank you for your video bro. My issue is i can get the following config of ryzen 7 7840hs with 32gb 1tb and 3.2k dci-p3 100% at 165hz but i cant also get the 100%sRGB at 240hz at a lower res but which kne would be best for gaming and photo editing?

I prefer the 3.2k but it’s a lot more demand for gaming. The 1600p is probably the better all round screen if you game and do production stuff

I use medium settings, and then I set textures to ultra. It will look the same as ultra presets but performance will be much better

This laptop is also having a 3.2k display variant , what happens when you try to run games at 1440p in that display . How does these games look at 1440p resolution in 3.2k resolution display? Will there be any performance drops with the 3.2k display

@@Scar2423 no cooling pad, but I always elevate the back to allow proper cooling. I think I had a small box under it for this video without covering and vents.

I've heard about micro stuttering on these laptops both on AMD and intel. Have you encountered such stuff during your daily use and gaming?

I have intel i9 4070 version and I did get micro stutter a few updates back but latest Nvidia mostly non existent and I only got that when I was in Hybrid mode. If you put on Performance mode no stutters or tearing even on very unoptimized games I tried. However I did upgrade to 32gb ram I am not sure how that changed things

Absolutely love this laptop, I got the 4070 version with the i9 for $1550 on sale which I think is worth it. There’s also a custom mode you can tune with legion toolkit and change the power limits and fan levels. If you have time I’d be curious how you could optimize it for something between balanced and quiet, thanks!

You can’t do much tweaking on his lap tops outside of the built-in profiles in Lenovo vantage. The non-X Intel processors don’t allow for modification. So your best bet is to throw it in either silent or balanced.

@@beau-urns there’s a third party software called legion toolkit which lets you change power limits for cpu and gpu. I have in and have tried but haven’t had time to really tune it. If you have a legion I’d highly recommend it, gives you a bunch of extra control.

Depends on price. They 4060 and 70 are similar. The 70 might be 10-15% faster or so.

I only have the amd model, but if it’s in silent modem the laptop becomes very quiet. Typically the fans rotate at a very slow rate occasionally though on HD RU-vid

Thanks for the video man. I was so confused with all this gpu mess. I was about to compromise other stuff and get legion pro 7i 4080, and for 2100 bucks that is expensive for me. Going down to 4070 again didn't make much sense as it doesn't seem quite much different from 4060, and theres huge difference between 4080 and 4070. So instead of paying 1800 for 4070, i thought paying 2100 for 4080 is better choice. Then i saw your video and this 4060 is doing just great with 1440p. So finally decided to get legion slim 7i 4060. Its currently on sale 1500 dollar. And i basically needed to play at 1440p. So going to get this one. I do have a question. What you u suggest, 1500 USD for slim 7i or 1600 for legion pro 5i (with 4070). I really loved the slim 7i build. It looks so premium.

Sorry I don’t have that anymore. It will outperform this easily though. The 6850m xt is about on par with a 3080ti, it smooshes a 4060 and 4070

I use the exact laptop a daily Driver. Guess what; I have a video about the laptop coming soon (a relook at the 2022 model). Yes it’s still a very very nice laptop with good performance and battery life. And yes I play games on it

@@jesusjimenez6755 I can see everything. As to your question: Are you talking about 5 pro, or 5 slim? Here is my take for this year so far: - slim 5 : best budget. Get AMD. Get a 4060 - slim 7i/slim 7: most premium this year. Amd proffered but intel good too. 4060 or 4070. Doesn’t matter - 5 pro: …. Meh. Not a big fan of this one. Probably get intel though unless amd is cheaper

@@jesusjimenez6755 the 7i is more premium and lighter. Better to carry around. Performance will be basically the same on all these laptops. If you want to save a lot of money the 5 slim. Otherwise if you want thinner and more premium get the 7i or 7 slim. I’m keeping the 7 slim (amd) as my main machine for a while at least. I really like it

Which laptop is thinner? The slim 7i or the slim 5 gen 8? Also, if you had to choose which one would you go for and why?! I can currently get the slim 7 down to $1300 and the slim 5 down to $1100

Slim 7 and 7i are absolutely thinner than the slim 5 Performance will be basically the same. The 7 is more metal and sleek but only features one sodimm slot. The slim 5 has dual sodimm and is less sleek. If gaming performance is what you care about just get the 5(basically the same) and use that money for a big storage nvme and some ram :)

When you launch the game. You need to adjust the settings on the opening screen before you press start. Dlss settings disappear when you are in the game. Not sure why

It won’t make any difference. The 4060 won’t be bottlenecked by either. So in the end amd and intel will perform the same in real world tasks.

What limitations, I’m simply benchmarking games with various settings. If they’re able to keep up, then they’re able to keep up. Do you want me to use this 1600 P laptop or a 4K screen for no reason?
