Finally, someone did this. You are the first! Waiting for your review, please take a look closer to thermals especially with and without lenovo software installed on a laptop. There are multiple reports on lenovo forum that as for now lenovo software is not optimized and keeps quadro frequencies pretty low even without a load. Also, there are reports that P53 has coil whine when utilizing Quadro card; some cases come with a little bit of bent, as a result, it does not stay stable on a surface; and screen enclosure seems to be too flimsy. Thank you!

glad someone finally did a review and can't wait for the upcoming videos on it. By the way, tip about the yeti mic. They're good mics but what a lot of people get wrong about it is pointing the top towards you. There actually isn't a mic on the top so its best to speak into it from the front. It's in the manual but who reads them? Your audio will sound much better.

I was hesitant between this and p73, but I'm rooting for P53 just because it's 2 pounds lighter.

the decision to put dedicated trackpad buttons, if i had to guess, would be for use in CAD programs. when you have to move around the viewport, having a dedicated MMB is a godsend. as for making the screen bezeless, yes the footprint of the laptop would be smaller, however, you sacrfice some protection for the screen from drops, and most importantly (for me anyway) you would either have to lose the numpad or make the keyboard smaller. both of which are only negatives for a person that wants a fully featured keyboard. i understand not everyone uses numpad, but for engineering at least (the only field i have experience in) numpads are very nice. also, the keyboard model on this thinkpad is the exact same keyboard used on many other thinkpads. it's one of those parts that comes from a congregated parts pins. they designed the laptop around that. i am interested in the thermals of that unit as well as power throttling limits (gpu max power, cpu max sustained package power when not thermal throttling). also, if you can comment on the mechanical flexibility of the display and chassis that will be great. i've been hearing that lenovo has been aggessively cost cutting, resulting in the p53 not being as rigid as it should. that said, i do know some compliance can allow the machine to better handle drops. my old t530's screen was so flexible it was scary, but it was nigh indestructible from drops.

Bummer on the lack of a Clickable Trackpad, I love the Clickable Trackpad from the W541/T450... Thanks for being the first out of about 6 reviews I pulled up on YT to actually bring that up.

Also VERY much looking forward looking to a (detailed) review of the P73. Am considering getting one to replace my current work laptop. The P73 has been out a while now, and yet not a single person has reviewed it yet.

A 'thumb up' even before I watch this clip. Thank you for considering a thorough review on this machine, hopefully with this machine featuring the brighter 500 nits display. And as another viewer commented, the P73 would be great as well, if you can access it through Lenovo.

They should shrink the bezels by making the screen larger. If they shrink the whole body then there won't be enough room for the keyboard plus numeric keypad.

I just obtained one with a 512SSD + 2 TB, 32GB RAM, and the T1000 GPU, and the basic FHD 300nit monitor. (Unfortunately, in my country we only get preconfigured ones. This GPU was the only option). First impressions: just opening+ 4 browser tabs open: - the display is sharp but a bit pale.... - it does produce heat at the bottom.

They do make the i9 8 core cpu, but without the rtx5000 currently. I'm not sure how Lenovo sells their different configurations, sometimes they have it sometimes they don't.

Hello. I am wanting to get a Thinkpad and have a question. I was thinking of going with the i7 but how were you able to get it with an RTX5000? I am on their website and trying to customize it but it won't let me get the RTX5000 with an i7 or even a i9. I can only get that card with the Xeon it looks like.
@ajsuico96
@ajsuico96 4 года назад
How about the graphic card? Is it upgradable as well? If you buy this unit with nvidia T1000 4gb card then you want to upgrade it to rtx 5000 would that be possible?
@avgonyma1
@avgonyma1 4 года назад
Nope. Rtx 5000 goes together with the Xeon. Plus, I was inquiring generally: once you buy it (any) laptop with a specific GPU you can not change that later. I think they are attached to the CPU, plus depending on some other stuff.

I have the same processor in a P53 and when I ran a simulation using 100% CPU performance on all 6 cores it was only able to crank out 3.36 GHz due to thermal throttling. Maybe if I can boost the fan speed in BIOS i could get that speed up a bit. Not a big deal for me. If you want more CPU performance go with i9 for more cores. Haven't put the GPU to test yet

Great video, thanks for the review. I would like to add that I just purchased 3 of these units, and for the most part, they are simply fantastic! And it was said best that if you're going to portability, go somewhere else, but if you're going for power, then this is the way to go! The reason I said for the most part, is because, I'm having a difficult time adding a 2.5" SATA drive. I only bought these units because I was told that they can accommodate a 2.5" and 2 M.2 - well that's not exactly true. Please see this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mnHyj3asjkI.html to see what I mean. Sadly, Lenovo is pushing a "somewhat" compatible bracket and cable. I will add another video with how that turns out. Thanks again for the video!
