In this view, the three I daylily used laptops will be introduced. Some good features for engineering work on-site will be talked. These three laptops are Thinkpad P53, Thinkpad P51, and Thinkpad T430.
you guys should not write negatively about his english. he is not a native speaker of english but he explains everything about the lenovo computers clearly. I think we should thank him and praise him instead. i have no problem understanding him.
@@electricalautomation you are wrlcome. I learn a lot of tech knowledge from you. I also use lenovo. I am stationed in hong kong. If u need help in English i think i csn help. I can write Chinese but i dont speak putonghua. Carry on with your video creations. Its a joy to watch.
i agree! isn't it a lot better to encourage people when they talk about the subjects you are interested in enough to watch videos about? i can barely speak 1/2 of a language and this guy is talking fluently off the top of his head in a second (or more) language and is doing great. i think this vid was awesome, keep up the good work!
I was thinking about buying a ThinkPad P53 but wanted to wait for the new model with new CPUs and GPU (and also better availability and prices due to the pandemic), your video was really helpful!
Thanks! If you need higher performance, CPU >= i7 is recommended. Mine is i5-9400H, it is just fine for daily engineering work. But it is not enough for heavy duty work (video compile, matlab ..). Also pls keep in mind, higher performance CPU cost higher battery power and lower mobile time.
@@electricalautomation Thanks again! I know about the CPUs and heat/battery life consequences, my concerns now are about quality... a thing apparently more rare than anything else... xD but your video was really helpful!
Personally, I would like to select P51 rather than P50, and E3 CPU because the it need RAM non-ECC, if you need you laptop running or compiling videos 24/7 without shutdown laptop.
@@electricalautomation thatnk you , yes i use my laptop usually more than 14h/day and sometimes didn't shutdwn , but i hope that E3 CPU didn't has heating problem or The battery is running out faster than i7 , anyway thank you again
@@electricalautomation thank you , now i have Dell m3800 and put the laptop fan , later when i buy thinkpad i will use Docking Station Tour to use it will be better for airflow , thank you .
I would like to know how the P53 is working out for you as there have been numerous complaints regarding the thermals, which has led to throttling issues. My understanding is Lenovo have corrected this problem with the newer Thinkpad P15 and P17.
Thanks for watching! I have been used P53 for more than 1 year, my CPU is i5 and 32RAMs. I have no issues with thermals issues, and I cannot feel obvious temperature issues on the keyboard. I use it daily for video recording and compile, also work with two VMs same time for industrial automation software. I am happy using P53.
Yes, we'd better adjust 8-16G RAM for a virtual machine if you need to run some engineering software, so plus your host machine, You need 8 + 8 + 8 at least 24 G RAM, (16G x2 = 32 G RAM will be better). Mine P53 is 32G RAM, running 2 VM same time without problems.
@@electricalautomation Yes. I want to be able to plug a mouse (I prefer wired mouse) and two usb devices like phones or memory sticks. In the future I think there will be more type C devices, so then its no problem since P53 has 3 type C connectors, but for now its just lame to not give us 3 type A ports.
As I use, 5-6 hours. It can let you use half days working on-site, and charge it during the lunch time. After almost 2 years use, (almost use the battery and charge every day), it can still take 4-5 hours. The workload for 4 hours is host machine + VM + some software online with devices. It is really nice.
@GateCrashers 100% worth it. I am a software developer working for the govt and the performance is stellar, keyboard stays cool, and the battery life is good enough with a 4K screen I get about 7 hours with battery saver mode. The 9th gen 6 core processor and T2000 Quadro chews threw everything I throw at it. Some people will complain about the weight but I do not care about weight if everything else is stellar.
@GateCrashers they will release a different model probably like the x1 etc but the p53 just launched late last year and won't have a replacement until fall 2021 at the earliest
