Also, practicing a bit would likely improve clarity of enunciation. And try not to edit too much. Many times it felt like you cut off sentences and got back to it at a later time with a different tone or pitch. All in all though, great review!

CruiseTech I was looking for the same, therefore thank you as well! Unfortunately, the Intel version seems to get quite hot as well. A comparison of the thermals between both CPU brands would be great.
Gonna put our hands up here: the audio quality has got slightly better on the more recent videos. Videos upto this one will have potato quality audio. Content hopefully is helpful though. We probably all like fried potato. Just not potato audio. 😂👍

What a great video! Can you please give me your opinion on that t14 model with 16GB Ram mixed with 8GB Ram? I ordered this on blackfriday and now I am not sure if this was bad because of mixing rams.
We've briefly covered it in the video. Maybe have a look once it arrives whether there is any meaningful difference in the real world usage. Should work fine but dual channel is preferred, in the memory bandwidth heavy uses.
Same. Seems 400 nit is available for intel version. It's frustrating. But I think I might move forward with the 300 nit. Did you end up customizing something?
Do you expect less heat with the Ryzen 5 4650U? Seems like there may be less heat and better battery life in the 4650U with only very slightly less performance than the Ryzen 7. What do you think?
On the X13 (and some extent the T14s), the performance/value might be good enough with the Ryzen 5 (diminishing return after). L14 / T14 arguably could cope better with the Ryzen 7.

I didn't hear any comment about the relative prices of the AMD and Intel versions of the T14. In the case of the T14s the Intel version is considerably more expensive. Is that also true of the T14?
Price changes due to promos (sometimes one side specific), varies depending on the region. So we didn't comment there. Some of our videos are watched years afterwards too. Some machines age better than others. Hard to know which is which looking in. So our general idea is to not comment on the price.
I'm gonna purchase this one next week, but the only 250 nits panel hold me back right now. Since R7 is out of stock in Taiwan and it take around 6 weeks to delivery, it make me wondering: should i wait for new panel options show up or just go for it with 250 nit panel ( i use it inside mostly btw). Do you need it urgently or have you got something to fill in for now? The standard 250 nits will do for the everyday office stuff (indoors). The 400 nits panel is definitely a more versatile panel, if you plan on moving the laptops around.
@@GreenGreenStore It's not that urgent cause i plan on using this device for the last two years of college and few years more of early career. Aiming for server management and security so VMs is a must have.
You think T14 vs T14s Which is a good consumption? I fell in love with the 14s, but I wonder if the difference in weight between 1.2kg and 1.47kg feels great. I wonder if the T14's dual heatpipes and additional ramslot ports have a big impact on actual performance.

Hey man, thanks for the review! Are you going to review the AMD gen2 E15 at some point? I am currently trying to decide between these two. The E15 is quite a bit cheaper but you get the Ryzen 7 4700U (8 threads) instead of the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750 (16 threads) as well as being limited to 8GB soldered RAM. I was thinking the thermals might be better for the E15 as well since it is just bigger, but I can't find anything to substantiate this.
@@GreenGreenStore You read my mind!! Yeah the L14/15 look like really good value. Only AMD ThinkPads with two DIMM slots as far I can tell. Unfortunately, it just says "coming soon" for the AMD versions on the Lenovo website (for USA). Are they available in UK yet? It's odd because the Intel version has been available for a while now.

Even though would be useful information for those who want to connect their monitor and other pheripicals with one USB-C cable :). For example I'm powering my Surface Laptop 2 with simply one USB-C cable which is connected to my two monitors. My monitors charge the laptop. This T14 will replace my Surface and I was looking for confirmation whether my workflow will still continue like this or I would have to change my desk :).
Seems okay. in use, it seems to kick in less than the Intel model. Under heavy workload obviously it has to run / there is noise. (Will need to look at a more data focused way to record the noise vs workload in the future. 🙂)
What would happen if you accidentally plugged the USB-C charger into the wrong USB-C port? Would the port sense an issue and refuse to connect or BANG.
What is the difference between the P and T lines? I want to get a 15” model and they both lines seem similar...I’m not super computer versed, so maybe I’m missing something obvious? Help someone 😓
P series is a workstation line with the Quadro graphics options, upto 128GB ram support on the P53 / P73 (vs 48GB here). Nearly 2x the weight though. T series is the normal portable range.

Thanks for your comment and the sub. The Laptops shipped are expected to have passed the quality assurance. Rarely the small oddities do occur. The keypad can be replaced under the warranty if needed, just to reassure. Personally for me it's not urgent to resolve, but your milage might vary. Some finds it simpler to sort out within the return period.

My version has 16gb soldered memory running at 3200Mhz, but I bought a Kingston Fury Impact DDR 4 running at 2666Mhz with intel xmp technology. The site said that it works with AMD Ryzen too. Do you know if it will work well?

Because for some reason its intel only (4 cores max). It depends on the use case though, not all pro workload need a Quadro. Some people just need a lot of cores for VM or transcoding, although for VM the RAM situation is a bit unfortunate. Besides the thermals are just atrocious for recent thinkpads with dedicated graphics, I personally think the obsession with thinness has gone too far.
@@iblizt316 not talking anything about thinness. Just the equivalent p series is way better as it has the extra graphics and is in same body as rhe t series. But t series is more widely known and popular... I think because ost people dont know the p is the same but better
@@adventureriders4515 The equivalent p series has the "potential" to be better than the t series. Unfortunately, there is no AMD version, only intel (as of now). This is matter more for people that need more cores since the p14s series have intel u series cpu (only 4 cores max) and because for some workload dedicated graphic (quadro) is not required. As it stands now, both are just different. I do not think one is better than the other. If you need dedicated graphics go for p14s, if you want 8 cores AMD APU go for t14. I believe the reason t14 garner much interest is because, as of now, t14 is the highest end thinkpad with ryzen 4000 series. Regarding the thinness, I was just saying that it was one of the reason that temps are so high for recent thinkpads with dedicated graphics, I should have been clearer about that.
which lenovo laptop would you recommend if I want a affordable, powerful CPU (doesn‘t matter Intel nor AMD) yet parts are upgradeable(RAM and battery mainly) laptop?
Notebook check has a Flir thermal cam shot of the T14 (Intel). 😉 Suggest waiting for their temp and review. They have a more systematic way to measure things.
I have the t14s but it throttles horribly. How well can the t14 work within its tdp limits? I was thinking t14 with ryzen5 might be the more sensible option instead of my t14s with the ryzen7 which is we Welt hampered by bad cooling and small chassis. When playing league of legends I get 105 degrees, 70ish with light work.
Have you tried using a lower power setting, e.g. Better performance or even the Better battery mode, instead of the full performance? (We imagine that Notebookcheck may have a review soon)
CruiseTech sure I have with minor improvements but what’s the point in getting the faster processor then? :) also something I noticed - in bios if you give 2gb of RAM to the igpu (instead of auto) it completely messes up thermal adding 10 degrees on idle for whatever reason!
CruiseTech another thing - I really hate how manufactures put processors in their machines the thermal design can’t handle. While still impressive performance the R7 is throttling like mad in my T14s - with much performance gone to waste. I acknowledge that there are compromises with thin and light machines but logically that compromise should already be the 15 Watts TDP, right? I hope the T14 does better with dual heat pipes and an optional video chip on intel models factored into the equation. My Ideapad 530s with kabylake i5 from 3 years ago can hit its boost clock as often as needed without throttling and never get hotter than 78 degrees. And yes it’s a third of the performance of the R7 in geek bench 5. Still. Id Rather go Ryzen 5 in the hope of better cooling than paying for only a marginal performance boost with the R7 because it can’t stretch it’s legs. Btw - nice review! :)

SimGunther I see that both have their place and Ideapads already exist (and are good value) also ... think... books... exist... for those that want a mangled consumer thinkpad...
I would recommend buying with max in the soldered slot and then buying your own for the dime slot because the customization tool ram is really expensive

@@GreenGreenStore Thank you for the link and performing all the tests, it does show that T14 AMD can be configured to 48GB ram unlike what Lenovo's specs suggest. Now looking at the numbers it seems T14 AMD (16+16) seems the better option for this coming black friday :). I am also inclined towards the P14s AMD which can be configured as 16+32, but I guess it might have same performance numbers as you showcased for T14 16+32. Any thoughts? I think I almost made up my mind for T14 AMD with 16+16 setup. Thanks again

There are only the Ryzen Pro 4750U or R5 4650U on the T14 currently. The 4x50U series is the AMD's business focused platform with a few more I.T management options. Speed shouldn't be too different on the same system, but since you might not be able to get it on the same system, it might be more upto a laptop's cooling and TDP as configured.
