The iconic slim and extremely light 14” Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen. 9 Ultrabook gets even better with FHD+ and 4K+ IPS displays with a 16:10 aspect ratio, optional 4G and 5G WWAN and a new hinge design. The laptop is LG Gram light at 2.5 lb / 1.1kg and despite its thinness, it has a healthy port selection including Thunderbolt 4, USB-A and HDMI. It’s clad in black carbon fiber and has passed a variety of MIL STD durability tests, and is available with Intel 11th gen CPUs with Intel Iris Xe graphics and your choice of Windows or Linux.

I am really happy to see 16x10 becoming more and more common on notebooks. It really is a better aspect ratio for mobile displays than 16x9.

I absolutely love the carbon line, I'm constantly between which one I would rather have, an X1 carbon or a Dell XP S13. Right now I'm on the XPS 13 9310 with the i7 1185 and the OLED. I absolutely love the screen, but I'm also a little disappointed in the amount of battery life I lost coming from eh XPS 9730. It's all a trade off. What I really want is an AMD APU with decent graphics in one of these nice build quality Ultrabook lines, better power efficiency when it comes to the higher power mobile CPU's, and near dedicated GPU level graphics. We are past the days of intel being the go to when it comes to efficiency / battery life when the OEM's tune the power profiles correctly, and would really like to see some of these small form factor laptops reflect that.

I worked for Lenovo in the repair center in Houston, repairing and testing units. All of their products are junk. At one point we were receiving more than 15,000 units a day to be repaired, and we were one of three centers. Since Lenovo bought the line from IBM it has turned into pure junk. Honestly, no one should be buying them, but the techs need the work so keep going. Lenovo needs to sell a lot to pay those guys $10 per hour. No previous experience needed. Two week training. The entire program changed so I left, but that's who repaired you laptop, monitor, or all-in-one. Enjoy!

I absolutely *ADORE* 4K+ displays on little displays like this. On Windows, which has shitty font rendering (compared to macOS & linux), any screen text ends up looking quite sad and pixels are visible, unless you have a 4K display and use 175%+ display scaling. I never want to see pixels again! I want to enjoy what macOS users enjoy! And a screen like the one this has is very very tempting

My biggest complaint is lack of sd card, the system is capable enough to handle some light creative task like photoshop, lightroom and the lack of port really hurts the experience Another major upgrade (maybe for some niche market), Thunderbolt 4 controller in 11th gen Intel CPU is now integrated in CPU itself, so no more bandwidth battling in southbridge with other things anymore, which means you can enjoy a dramaticly improved eGPU performance for better gaming and computing

How is 12th gen intel battery life, really? It seems like they've started making them to purposely pass battery life benchmarks. My i7 X1 Extreme g4 gets 2 hours of battery if I'm doing anything. If I leave it idle, it shows it can get about 5 hours. It's not really feasible for coding unless I'm next to an outlet with my giant power brick. Btw I clearly don't recommend the X1 Extreme, despite how pretty the 4k screen is.

It was a let down about your comments about the Nano's Xe graphics. The way I am understanding you, this one does not have the downclocked Xe? Also, would you get this over the Nano, if portability is important? We went back to T series, i hope the T14s 2nd gen work out better.
