Thanks! Yes, X1 Carbon are evo certified. All models. P15 Gen 1 will be much more powerful than the X1 Carbon Gen 9. It is a mobile workstation with discrete graphics whereas the X1 Carbon Gen 9 is an ultraportable laptop meant for mobility and longevity in terms of battery life.

@@andrewmarcdavid Appreciate your reply. Thank you so much. I think both are good. It's just that P15 is not portable and will demand more battery. Whereas, X1 Carbon will be more battery efficient. I think from "future proofing" POV, I might go with X1 Carbon. :)

I use a custom test which is used by the industry and those are the actual results from continuous web surfing test over wifi at 150 nits. I don't know which tests Just Josh uses. I can only give you my results.

Other tests confirm Andrew's finding that there is a big difference. NotebookCheck ran tests on the FHD+ i7 model and the UHD+ i7 model. The FHD+ model reached 11:40 (150 nits) and 9:32 (full), while the UHD+ model reached 7:22 (150 nits) and 5:00 (full). Those results are consistent with Andrew's results. I had a look at Just Josh's review, and his test involved streaming a Netflix video on each machine until they both died. I am not sure that is a reliable testing method, and it doesn't give much of an indication of battery life in everyday use. It would have been more useful if he had run separate tests for WiFi and (non-streaming) video playback.

Battery life will always be better with FHD+ over UHD+ no matter which processor you choose.

As far as I can tell, there is no such thing as a ThinkPad X1 Carbon Yoga.

Would happen occasionally. Didn't affect everyday tasks. From what I understand a firmware update will fix this.

I would say 1080p video editing.

No excuse, for that there are options that already exist (1.5 decade now) in 1080p that allow you to run your webcam in different resolutions or even FPS.

@@DragonlordSVS How long will it be till 1080p is not enough? Attach an 8K D-SLR to your notebook in that case and be done with it. That pesky webcam is only there as a bonus.

The webcam is not there as a bonus, atleast not on anything above a "budget" laptop (and perhaps medium priced gaming laptops due to cost of GPU). Do you call a webcam in business laptops costing from 1 to several thousands of euro, a bonus? It wouldn't be a bonus even if a business laptop costed 1 dollar since businesses should be expected to hold meetings (either officially or as another collaboration tool). Same goes for expensive gaming laptops catering to (both real or imagined) pro gamers since more than just a few do streaming. Most monitors (or TVs) are FHD long time now and even though I hate 16:9 even with 16:10 the usual resolution is about the same. FHD provides enough resolution to have enough detail, while still requiring low enough bandwidth and cheap equipment (and remember its easy to always have S/W options for lower resolutions). I would agree for budget laptops to have no webcam or just 720p, I might agreed for it for some powerful medium priced gaming laptops too. Yet you start sounding.... weird when you think its logical to put an 720p camera on high tier gaming laptops costing around 1500 euro. Even worse on mid+ price tier of business laptops, workstations or overpriced premiums (all these are also used in academics too besides their named target crowd including the pricy gaming ones). Most of the time where there is a business laptop there is a need for meetings, whether non physical meetings are common and if they are served by 720p varries. For academics (where meetings are not uncommon depending on studies and university, even before the quarantines) too 720p is not always good enough (many issues arrised especially now that almost everything is done via webcam due to the pandemic). The most important thing though is... that 1080p has minimal additional cost over 720p. Financial cost is largely similar (if we compare similar product quality: lens, S/W etc), processing and bandwidth extra cost is minimal and with even halfway modern/decent equipment its impact difference approaches zero (also "options"). You ask why 1080p and I ask you back why not, since the cost remains almost the same (from the production side - they could be charging 10-20usd more if they didn't want to absorb it, in a 1200+ laptop such "premium" will not only be invisible but even though a welcomed trade off). Nobody was talking for 4k or 60fps, though depending on cheaply available future technological innovation in computing and networks it might eventually also become the target we should be targeting for, anything more tham that though will be outright dumb, due to human physiology limitations. Also remember we are not talking about budget options. I want to also add that ofcourse resolution is not the most important thing there is, I would argue that S/W, lens and microphone (as well as other specs) are just if no more as important, see as my 720p has better picture than most (not all) others 720p (including some shitty 1080p) and its microphone is better than even most dedicated ones. Thing is improving any of these (maybe except S/W in the long term) will probably be much more expensive than jumping to 1080p anyway. Again no sane excuse for 720p instead of similar quality (and price) 1080p in most expensive (read: overpriced) workstation/premium/"pro gaming" laptops and especially business ones. For "budgets" they could have nothing at all or 720p max for all I care, it would still make sense.

It worked fine for me. Sorry can't include everything unless you want a 30+ minute video in which case most people would click away as being too long. My videos are long enough as it is. And the only bidding I do is for the channel, not for the brands.

Yup, m1 is just beast.

mac with intagrated ssd and all in is just not acceptable. Calculate how much is 16 gb ram and 512 ssd and whatever happen all is integrated in motherboard so no go. Not to mention ancient bezels and smaller 13.3

​@@popokatapetl6995 Macbook = better build qualitty, touchpad, display (sRGB, aRGB, P3 coverage), speakers, mic, camera, keyboard backlight stages, battery life, m1 is much more efficient and faster than any intel cpu, apple ecosystem, stability. Should I continue? Btw I had X1 carbon 5th gen it sucked. Terrible display, speakers camera and mic, medicore touchpad, basic build qualitty, paint stripping, hinges lost it's strength after some time, inconsistent keyboard press feeling (mushy keys, sticky, etc...) Nice 2K laptop.

@@PUK1SVA ask Louis Rossman about inside build quality of Apple, I see you hate Intel, I am not fan of them as well but the end of the day X1 Carbon is one hell of compact and decent business laptop. I hve gen 6 and I like it. Dell has latirude 7420 but only Intel no Amd and stays on 16:9.. m2 Mac and 14 inch model maybe took my attention only if ssd be removable othervise no go..
