Great video. I just got the M14t (touch screen version) and it's actually significantly brighter than my 400 nit rated laptop. Not sure if that says more about this portable monitor or about my laptop. But loving the extra screen real estate so far.
Agreed. Often people get too bogged down in numbers or specs. Just because it claims to be good doesn’t mean it is. Lenovo makes totally “good” monitors. I have a couple 1440p monitors and a thinkbook. You can see my videos. They are all quite good. Obviously not Uber gaming tier, but very nice for the quality On the m14t, how is the touch? I debated getting especially since I have a Lenovo pen, but I didn’t think I would use it that much (more likely I was just being cheap haha)
@@TechGuyBeau The touch is actually surprisingly great, and with the stylus has excellent palm rejection. I've never cared for note taking on electronic devices before (never use my tablet for it, for example). But the combination of the 14 inch screen, which is much larger than a tablet would be, and the great writing feel actually is making me really debate using it for to take notes on this semester. And that says alot as I'm usually a fountain pen + physical notebook person through and through. Never would have guessed. I only bought the touch screen variant for continuity with my touch screen laptop. Anyways this is by far the best review I've seen on the M14. It's to me an unexpectedly great product that has received very little attention.
Thanks. I aim to go for the user experience review, rather than a quick fire overview of specs. Those style are for huge channels with little time to do reviews.
Thank you for the very in depth and practical review. I have the M14t and want to connect it with other devices which has HDMI output. Apparently, it is rather difficult to find a suitable cable for this monitor. There are some recommended cables but they're really expensive I can't just buy to test. Would you have any HDMI cable or adapter recommendation?
That I’m not too sure. I’m not fully aware of how touch works over HDMI unfortunately. Have you considered plug in the USB c cable directly into a USB-C port on your computer? That may give you directly what you need Otherwise you may need some type of display over C Adapter.
@@TechGuyBeau Thanks for replying. I asked Lenovo and they said touch won't work with HDMI it it kinda makes sense. With HDMI I just want the monitor to display. For example, I want to project my camera to this monitor in some cases. And another case is to use it as a display for my RaspberryPi. My laptop works fine because it has USB C alternate port, but I'm having no luck with other devices. I went to a computer shop two days ago and bought a USB C - HDMI cable and learned my lesson that it won't work that easily (luckily the shop took the cable back and returned the my money). It seems like I need to hook up a lot of adapters and cables for HDMI to work, and most of them are expensive (~$30 for a piece). At this point I thought it's no longer worth it and I may only buy if it is confirmed to be working by someone. If you have lots of cables and adapters lying around, please make a video if you have any success :)
I only have one USB-C on my laptop and usually use an adaptor so I can charge my computer while also having my usb mouse hooked up. With this monitor, while it does charge my laptop if hooked up through the adaptor, it doesn't show my laptop screen on the external screen. Is there a way to get the external screen to work if using an adaptor or does it have to be connected directly to the laptop? If it only works if plugged in directly to the laptop, do you have any suggestions on how I can funnel it through something else in order to get my usb mouse up and running as well? Thanks so much!
@@TechGuyBeau Thanks for responding! It does charge my laptop, yes. However, when I use the adaptor (which I do so that I can plug in the usb part of my mouse), the external monitor does not work as a second monitor. It charges but does not show my computer screen. I'm guessing this has to do with the type of charge/port the adaptor uses. I'm wondering if there is an adaptor I can find where I can plug the cord from the monitor to the adaptor instead of my laptop directy and have the monitor work.
