This video is a life saver. You have no idea how thankful i am for this. For context, i am a 16 y.o. dude who has been wearing glasses for YEARS. One day my lens popped out and i had no idea what to do, i started panicking, thinking that one of my parents (i will not specify which one) would beat the living shit out of me but this saved me a lot of money i could have spent on getting it done in a shop. Put the lens back in after my brain stopped buffering the information and did it in 2 minutes. This is a great video that saved me from an ass whooping, spending money and having an anxiety attack. Thank you 300000/10
THANK YOU! I started crying the hell out because I didn't know how to fix my glasses lol. You saved me a lecture from my mom, and a possible repaying of the 400$ she spent on my glasses. You saved my life!
🥂. Parents can be more understanding than that… sometimes. But regardless, kudos for taking initiative and learning a new skill and fixing them!! You got this!! 🙌🏻🎉
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! Last night, i broke my glasses cuz i popped em out due to my anger issues…😂 yikes… but then when i came to your video, MY PROBLEMS WERE IMMEDIATELY SOLVED! THANK YOU!!!❤❤
Thank you so much!! My friend's lens popped out her glasses and we were trying to push it back in and had to look for a video to fix it, and we finally got it!! Thanl you so much!!!
Ahh thank you for posting this video !!! Was putting away my husband’s expensive sunglasses and pop came out the lens 😮and I was freaking out and then while trying to put the lens back in the other one came out so I had TWO lenses out . I was trying to put them back using the plastic technique on a metal frame 😅 and was freaking out I would make things worse and finally realized wait let me see a video and BAM ! saw this and saved me hundreds of dollars because I was going to buy another pair. Thank you thank you so much for this .
OM GOODNESS!!!!....Wire rimmed glasses here. Last night while trying to fix the that's lopsided....BOOM out pops the lens!😢.....all day today trying to find an store that's open on a Saturday....."wait let me.go to RU-vid University " AND HERE YOU ARE!!!...& I'M BACK TO SEEING!!!😊.I was wearing cheaters that were giving me a headache! A million thank yous!!!! Bless you on this 4th of July weekend!!!💜👏👏👏
FWIW, if you're dealing with the nylon cord (no bottom frame) and don't have the piece of wrapping strap he uses, I managed to get my lense back in using a piece of duct tape folded in half as the wrapping strap. Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
Love it!! Gotta find what you can to get the job done sometimes! I’ve had to replace one at a theme park once, got super creative that day 😂. Seriously nice work with the duct tape trick! Glad this video helped you too! 😎
Thanks a million!👍🏾💜👍🏾 My tinted 👓 arm broke @ work so been wearing these my clear pair for months contemplating going into have my optometrist change them out for me but, you saved me time & a trip perfect fit!👓🤗💕 THANK YOU VERY MUCH!🤓💕👏🏾
thanks... saved time and money and an 8 year old now has glasses over Easter holidays instead of a headache. Plastic frames were dropped and the frame split, so instead of trying to glue them back together* I swapped the lenses into an old frame (and transferred a leg from the new but broken frame to the old frame that had mislaid a leg after I'd previously scavenged a screw). *it's a diagonal split above the lens about 2cm long but I'm not sure if super glue would have held.
Superglue won’t hold, and in fact ruins the repair ability of the frame. Often times (if it’s acetate) it can be fused back together. 😎. Your path is the better one though. Great work and glad this video helped you pull off an Easter week miracle! 😁😁
thanks for the tutorial. i had purchased additional frames as my lovely macaw likes to grab them, and that beak makes the arms rough pretty quick. love the rambling 😂😂
That’s awesome!!! Glad this helped you with her glasses! Would really appreciate if you stick around with a subscription or consider using that super thanks feature 😎 both help support the channel so I can keep making killer content ❤️
Perfect! This is geared more towards when it’s not a screw but now that reminds me I need to go back and do a video for rimless and frames with eyewire screws. 😁
I have the Silhouette frameless glasses, can attest that is better to pinch them with fingers and go to the optician´s shop later. I also have another pair of Silhouette with the metal "cord" on the bottom so although not interested in taking the lenses off, now I know how to put them back in in a hurry. Great video as usual, i watch most if not all of your videos to learn something new since I started wearing prescription a year ago.
Thank you for the help I had my semi wireless glasses lens fall out and decided to take it to get repaired but at least I know now that they’re fixable
Sort of. Usually the metal will flex enough to let you do it but the lenses have to be perfectly sized, and only polycarbonate to be able to flex and pop in/out. Go slow and just slowly “roll” the lens into the rim.
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 thank you so much for the advice! I recently checked in my Frame so my eye doctor for the lenses to be changed, but I don’t think I have polycarbonate lenses and they warned me that my frames could potentially break if they attempted. I’ll definitely be contacting them to use the polycarbonate lenses instead. Thanks!
I have a pair of round glasses metal frames and my lense popped out. I don't have a screwdriver for glasses and I don't have money to buy one. What do I do
@ThatGlassesGuy03 due to how thick my lense are I could figure out how it was supposed to fit into the frames and popped it in like you did with the plastic frames
It was a very small batch run of an LE Laibach & York Amsterdam. All the neon is sold out but still have some cobalt blue and Purple left. I sell them in my store 😎 thatglassesguy.shop/products/capitol-amsterdam-square-glasses?ToPasteboard
Tip: I was holding the top part with my fingers and while doing that used my teeth for the lower part. It’s hard to explain but it worked. I heard the click in less than a minute, teeth is the answer!! I have a metal frame and thicker glasses.
With. Metal rim it should be unscrewed at the eyewire screw (usually near the hinge) and then screwed back together with the lens held in place…. But hey If it works it works 😂
If the portion that would normally holds the lens in is broken there’s not a ton most people can do. Avoid superglue at all costs first of all though. Outside of that a good repair shop can mend the plastic break in many cases 🥂
Just look to see if you have a screw somewhere around the metal rim that directly touches the lens. You’ll likely need to loosen that a bit to push the lens back in (gently) and then re tighten it. :)
Do you have any tips: my glasses frames broke and I’ve been using cheap frames from Walmart. But now since my lens were originally made for sunglasses I’m having issues finding a frame that fits. I tried googling the frame number but nothing pops up. I’m using glue and tape until I get an application but is there a way to salvage the lens still.?
Generally it's best to get a new lens unless you can find a close enough frame to shoe-horn it into or cut it down for if the lens is plenty large enough. I'm not a huge fan of just tossing things just because, but sometimes... it's time.
Is shaping point call a ribbon because I use wood tape and glue it didn't work? Otherwise, it's best to go get it repair at optometrist for lens popping out?
I actually don't know what that stuff is called, I just know it's used in packaging things and I take them and stockpile everytime something comes in with them 😅
Hey, I have a pair of prescription plastic glasses. I can get 3 corners of the lenses in the frame pretty easily but I can never seem to fit the last corner no matter how hard I pinch. I can still wear the glasses just fine with one corner loose. Will it hurt my eyes to wear them like that?
It won’t hurt your eyes, but that lens can pop out easily. Odds are it’s a little big or the material shrunk. A good optician can get it back in 😎. Swing by a local optical and see if they can get you fixed up 👌
THANK YOU. My dumbass just rolled over on my Ray Bans 2 hrs before work and I would have no time to run to LensCrafters to get it fixed. Problem solved. 🙏🏻
My dads glasses broke and he was mad so I tried fixing them watching this but it like broken broken the lens fell out and the outline broke and I’m a kid so I can’t use hot glue and we don’t have kid versions either so yea it’s broke
Some jewelry shops can weld the eyewire for a proper fix 😎 hot glue would never work, but may make for a relatively inexpensive repair to get your dad seeing again 🎊🥂
No metal core wire in the temple is a start, but it's tough to say. Generally the specialty ones that can't be heated will be marked somewhere on the frame though 🙂, some nylons can be heated but respond weird too. Generally nylon frames will be sport wraps, but there are a few exceptions out there 😎
Lot of variables, but a well fit lens should be snug but fit back into the frame with minimal effort for sure 😎. The steps here are to prevent damage to the frame and lens, as well as fit when the lens fit was less than ideal to begin with. I.e. covering all the bases. 😎
Superglue rarely if ever holds up, and prevents any proper repairs from being done :( Hopefully you can get a replacement frame to use the lenses at least (assuming they weren't ruined with superglue too :/
How would u take out the frame for metal glasses cus my friend has one that’s slanted so he wants to just take it out and put it back in because someone sat on them accidentally so they became slanted
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 what he’s been doing is pushing down on the the lens to try to get them back into place but now his glasses are just gradually becoming crooked with one side being higher than the other so do you just recommend that he just take it to a shop at this point?
@@akaperkins436 yup, alternatively I've got a video on how to make glasses sit level, but sounds like the frame could benefit from a more thorough standard alignment and readjust from there at this point 🙂
Overheated or lenses a bit too big for the frame (some plastics in particular shrink with age). Unfortunately, happens sometimes. Or if you’re talking about a corded rimless and the lens is started, too much pressure at a thin point. But all of these beat no lens 🥂 just some tips for in the future, hopefully you don’t need them🤞🏻
I'm an old country Jew, and I collect my glasses. I counted them all up I have 414 pairs! I just repaired half of them. Does anyone know where I can donate my glasses? I've heard there's a organization called the cheetah club? And they take and repair glasses and send them to and them to Africa? Is that right ?
I'm not familiar with the cheetah club, but any local lions club or remote area medical would happily take donations 🙂. That's quite a collection of pairs over the years!! Some real gems in there I bet!!
Sometimes they’re a little trickier for sure. Some of my assistants over the years have really struggled with fitting a lens on occasion. Finger strength plays a role too 😂
If you can't have fun and laugh in what's a bad time for most (lenses out of your glasses ain't a good day) then perhaps there's more going on there. Have fun chill, enjoy. This video has helped MANY and will continue to do so 💙
