Vintage lens series, YES!!! Nobody has done it yet, and we really need some tests and guides on the subject. If I can make a request, I have a massive interest in vintage lenses used with a speedbooster. I really want to capture the swirly bokeh of the Helios 44-M4 with my GH5... We still don't know if you can adapt multiple mounts (with multiple FFD) on a single speedbooster. E.g. using a Viltrox EF-M2 and a bunch of cheap adapters (M42 to EF, Praktica to EF, Nikon G to EF etc). The glass-less adapters should account for the change in FFD, but perhaps the rear element of each lens must have a specific distance of it's own from the speedbooster's glass... It'd be great to know which lenses have swirly bokeh (Helios, Industar, Zeiss Biotar, some projection lenses), which have bubble bokeh (some Takumar lenses). Other unique characteristic of vintage lenses...and so on.
@Ansonandco
@Ansonandco 4 года назад
I literally had somebody ask me today about m42 to EF SPEED BOOSTER. I’m assuming you have not attempted it yet? This is actually something i am curious about now. Looks like i am going to need to pick up a speed booster. Meanwhile, have you checked out Mark Holtze? Similar vibe but is pretty much a dedicated vintage lens channel. Definitely worth the check!

Thanks for some other lens ideas !! I have the 25mm f1.7...I like it..but don’t use it as often as the 14 - 46mm. (Both LUMIX - on a G7.) The 14 - 46 worked good for the vlogs we did...and the 25mm is nice for b-roll or tripod shots...talking head type stuff...good bokeh! I like the Panasonic a lot!! To me the feel of them and the ease of use is great! Pretty intuitive. Just wish they had better auto focus!

Honestly that is one thing i miss is autofocus lol. I used my a6000 for a video recently and was like “i miss not having to worry about it” but that being said most of lenses i use now don’t have autofocus anyways lol And i also am really into the 25mm but i just don’t use a 50mm equivalent focal length that often. Dude, you should get the Panasonic LEICA 12-60MM and the Panasonic 35-100mm f2.8. I've got those two together with the 25mm f1.7 and the 7Artisans 7,5mm f2.8 which is currently my most used lens (and used for studio shots). The combination of those lenses gives me so much range, it's awesome. Hardly use the 25mm though since the 12-60mm LEICA has a great range and is good enough for most lighting situations. I understand that everyone their personal situation might lead to different needs, but there hasn't been a single moment in which I went like: "I need X and Y lens".
@Ansonandco
@Ansonandco 4 года назад
Great lenses! I know i am currently sweating bullets that i don’t any zooms. Honestly it came down to budget for me otherwise I would have picked up the 12-60 or even the 12-35. But my goal was to keep it in the lower end of the budget and build up. Is the Leica a contestant f2.8 or is it 2.8-4? I couldn’t remember it it was that one that had the variable aperture. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!

@@Ansonandco Both to be honest. My main focus is video though. However, last year when we went to Switzerland, I decided to take more photos rather than videos to be able to be more present rather than living the moment through my viewfinder. In both cases, the lens is doing a fantastic job.

Dood! Love the lineup! YAAASSS on the vintage lens video. I actually just shot a vintage lens video this past weekend on a family walk. On a Minolta 50mm. I had a hard time with that focal length cuz I'm not used to shooting telephoto. But anyway, it was fun. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the vintage for GH5.
@Ansonandco
@Ansonandco 4 года назад
Oh man i love old Minolta lenses. That silver lens in the background of my videos is an old 75-300 Minolta. Shooting telephoto can be tricky. Until i got the 8mm i shot on 58 and 85. It was like the other end of creativity. If i couldn’t shoot ultra wide i was going to shoot super zoomed. I have one family video on my personal IG that i did where i was in a 100sqft room shooting on the Rokinon 85. It was extremely hard but a different look. Out of curiosity was the Minolta pricey? And what aperture was it? Thanks for watching!
@CalebHoover

@@Ansonandco the minolta is a 1.4 and it is actually my grandpa's old lens. i'll talk about it a bit more in my vid but he traveled all over with it and so it's fun to give it new life ya know. but yeah having the 100mm equivalent on it was like waaaay too tight for how i like to shoot. so some of the shots are like, what am i even trying to frame up 😂

if you place a - symbol before the word you want to omit it will make your google searches easier when you want to search for something specific. Also, the Olympus 7-14 2.8 is a super wide option for the GH5 without being a fish eye. It does have some distortion at 7mm but nothing crazy if used for the correct shots.

@DogeGFSolo
@DogeGFSolo 2 года назад
A Helios 44 with a scope (isco etc) produces gorgeous cinematic images on a gh5/gh5s and is affordable if you don't mind putting the setup together yourself. Anything shot on it looks like a movie. Shorts look magic, whatevers on the screen, with this lens combo. Also the Vazens and DZOs look great on a gh5 tho you can buy 2 gh5s for the price of the Vazen it's still a gorgeous looking lens image rendering on gh5/gh5s cameras. Take a look. And if you shoot after 7pm you need fast glass so keep that in mind with these lenses esp long lenses which may look good in the day but fall apart at night or low light

Funny. I have G80 and none of these lens. My favorites (I don't care much about video): 20mm/f1.7 is nice, lightweight, sharp lens with enough background separation with super slow and noisy focus and problems while focusing in the dark. great for social events and challenging yourself to think about composition and where to stand. useless for video Oly 45mm/f1.8 is nice portrait lens, good for kids as well 12-35/f2.8 is versatile low light lens for winter and bad weather, i just don't like bokeh and lens flares ... actually it's not my favorite, maybe most used in long term, but combining other three lenses in this list is better 12-60/f3.5-5.6 is versatile travel lens, as sharp as 12-35 and not suffering from lens flare, i recently rate it above previous one My not so favorite old 14-45/3.5-5.6 is nothing special, on GF1 one side was less sharp, on G5 it was ok, but I always used 12-35 due to superior low light performance, sharpness and better IS 45-200/f4-5.6 is too heavy and not sharp above 120mm. it has very niche use, i either regret not having it with myself or carrying extra half kilogram, but some of my better photos were taken with this one (usually lonely trees) What I'd like to have (too expensive for not being versatile): 35-100/f2.8 any high quality and lightweight telephoto laowa 7.5/f2 sigma 16/f1.4 - i'm afraid it's big and heavy and close to 20mm/f1.7 pana 25/f1.4 - again, close to 20/f1.7 pergear 25/f1.8 - yet again, but this might be fun to use

Tim Bradshaw I have the Nikon version of lens and Viltrox adapter, but if you want autofocus you will want to grab the canon version. And a lot of people like the viltrox for that too. I think it would do just fine. Let’s be real autofocus is not something the GH5 is going to be good at in general

Anson & Co. would be catching the crowd laughing some of the back ground in the room. Bartenders being well... bartenders other comics on stage stuff like that. Usually the rooms are dark so I’d need a lense good in low light since I’m shooting on an a6400
@Ansonandco
@Ansonandco 4 года назад
I would look at something more telephoto. This will allow authentic reactions rather than have someone get super close. But i would possibly check out a good zoom lens that has a fast aperture like a 2.8. Maybe focal lengths like 24-70 or 70-200 but that can get pricey. So i may look at a 85 or 135 prime. What’s nice about that is, being a prime it will probably have a fast aperture like 1.4-1.8 - so better in low light. If you are comfortable with manual lenses check out 85 or 135 from Rokinon and i think Rokinon even makes an autofocus 85mm.

Yes you will. You’ll need to look for a m42 to m43 adapter. Or if you already own a canon EOS to m43 adapter you should be able to get a small adapter that is m43 to eos. This is what i currently own. And sometimes people will sell them with the adapters so look for those too when shopping. The nice thing is m42 is a very common mount with vintage lenses so if you get it there is a wide selection of vintage lenses that you will be able to use it with. I know that was a long winded answer lol but yes you will

Dude, that transition with offset overlapped audio/video at 1:50 to 1:53 was horrible, made me physically react badly. Generally like your videos (though this is only the second I've watched, subscribed already), but that 3 seconds was not good! :-D

Oh man you should maybe not watch any of my other videos lol. I do these transitions all the time. 😬 sorry?

@@Ansonandco Interesting. I felt like it really broke the continuity and consistency between eye and ear. I guess I'll see if I notice any further ones, and if they make me feel the same, or not, and comment about that if/when that happens. No need for a sorry though! It's just feedback, maybe it's just me and everyone else loves it? :-D

Yeah I mean i get it it. Peter McKinnon did cuts like this for a while and if you are not expecting it then it can be very jarring. And I appreciate the feedback, true about the apology, but definitely need to look into parts like that if it’s worth the jarring feeling vs. creativity. Thanks again for watching!

@@Ansonandco Thinking about it again, I think what did it was the same head, same voice, and inability to see the lips creating a strong expectation of he's talking to the lav mic rudely facing the wrong way, but then the jar comes when the head turns back around and isn't talking but the voice continues, that's the cognitive dissonance, I think. Does that make any sense?

fredio54 that makes sense completely! It was a little bit longer of a clip too. Usually A shorter transition.
