Exercise was fun because we did fun things to exercise like tag, football or biking. Now we pay a gym money to have us stare at a wall while we exercise on machines that don't move.

I used to play basketball with my friends and it was so fun, but ever since the court was changed into parking lots, and it's kinda embarassing playing soccer for a woman like me in this conservative environment, i never exercise anymore.

Thanks to video games and shows.

convenience, comfort, equipment, social. I you just want to run, sure, go run, but there are things you can only do in a gym or at a home gym.

On the cross-trainer/elliptical you can pretend you're an astronaunt, bouncing along the surface of an alien planet. The gym also has weights; heating & cooling. Also, toilets and a shower so, you don't stink up the supermarket like some joggers like to do after their run. Only some. She knows who she is, grrr... There are also no magpies attempting to rip out your eyes in a gym, or snakes, etc...

Because you can gain muscle in gyms as well
