I work in a restaurant that has recently converted from a sort of buffet restaurant to a dine-in restaurant, I have found that there is a art to serving & I like the job because as a server I feel that I am the product & hold one of the most important jobs in the restaurant. I really love these videos, I'm not a waiter myself but as I am very young I see myself having to work as one one day and these videos are really informative! I think that the videos could be shorter if they were a bit more planned as there are some parts where you're thinking about what to say next, but I appreciate everything you do to help us to be better and to improve our lives! I hope you continue with these and I hope that we can help you to achieve your dreams as well.

I really love this video cause we can help to improve my knowledge about the service I’m a head waiter here in Saudi Arabia but it so difficult to service the guest here in Saudi you can’t serve first the ladies a man came to angry but some of the guest I tried to served First Ladies on the plate like salad appetizer and I’ll start to conversation to man wow your so gentleman and when they’re finished eating I give the bills I get some of tips I get this technique also your videos for the power of small talk of the guest, I see my self five years from now I want to have to learn more and grow within my work to have increased my responsibilities and to improve My skills.

From my experience and mostly in fine dining, with kids you do NOT want to finish serving them TOO soon or TOO late. There's a balance. Depending upon the type of parenting you may be dealing with "nothing to do" kids while dinner is finally served.

- Why do I want to work as a waiter: I like making people happy (working). - What do I expect from the job: A lot of screaming from the kitchen my first months, but It will be fun In 5 years I see myself working in a good restaurant (below the fine restaurant level) I have no experience at all, so I will start in a family restaurant maybe in 6 month time.

Pretty much true! Set a higher goal for yourself! In 5 years you could be already a manager in a good restaurant or working in some really fine, luxury place where you make a lot of money and live a good life! Best luck!

Batko can you tell some skills like what should do comi how to coperate with chef de rag,i had a bad chef de rang in restaurant hotel 5 stars,i had to give the comands in the kitchen like first,second i had to send plates and to other chef de rangs not just to ours 10 tabels,i had work in winter saison i was very stresfull,6 persons in tabel and the chef de rang saying to me to take the plates at once from the tabel it was hard because not were the plates one type and the spouns knifes from silver 😔i was talking for italian restaurant

Bussing table of six alone is just ....yeah it sucks but that just means you have worked with bitch head waiter who took advantage of you! I always say that if you are my comie de rang, you should know how I work and you should follow my lead! So the easiest thing to do is go to your head waiter and ask him what he expect from you! Once you know what are your duties it will be easier to handle it! Every chef de rang has his own different system of work and therefore what has been working with one guy might not be working with another! So ask! Have you seen the video where I explain the technique of busing tables? Learn it and it will help you be efficient and busing tables much faster and easier! My biggest thing for my comies is to keep an eye contact with me! Don't run around making something for who ever ask you and not paying attention to what I need you to do! So always keep an eye contact with your chef de rang! Tell him to explain for you few signs and what they mean so he doesn't have to talk to you all the time! Working as a team is the most important thing! Don't try to show off but as well don't let no one taking advantage of you! What else can I tell you my man! Hope this winter you will have better chef de rang and next winter you yourself will work as a chef de rang! Good luck!

Hi Reda! It is great you feel ready to be a captain! You can be a captain even at age 21! It is not easy but if you feel ready, if you think you are doing great job and you have the experience and the knowledge to handle any situation in the restaurant you should go to your manager and talk with him/her! You should never be shy asking for promotion! Don't be cocky but be assertive! You tell the manager that you want to take more responsibilities and that you believe you can handle it! Tell him you want to grow in the company. Ask him what he wants you to learn more so he promote you even at your young age! Tell him that you know and you understand that you are very young, but you feel ready and you don't want to waste time, you want to learn more and more! If that doesn't persuade him to give you the promotion or to tell you when can you get it! You can wait a little bit, talk again and then start looking for a better opportunity somewhere else as a captain! Good luck!

My question is...In a situation when the food are strictly prepared for Adults and you have kids join them, most chef would say let me know when you have a kid(s)on your table. In such situations do you keep the parents waiting while the chef prepares the meal for the kids or you serve the parents?

Well, generally, you should serve the kids first! Once you see that you have kids on the table you are responsible to order the food so that it either arrived at the same time or the kids food is served first and then the parents! The kids should not watch their parents eating while they are waiting...
