Oshun is the Yoruban orisha of the rivers, sensuality, fertility, beauty, wealth, art and love. Even today, the ancient mythic stories that surround her offer powerful insight and inspiration into seduction, transformation and feminine experience.

The reason why I am drawn to Osun is because she represents femininity and self love. Religion tells us we are sinners and has demonised femininity, whereas these ancient African stories tell us of our beauty as feminine women! We are not broken, we are whole!

There is a passage when Oshun was very poor and she will visit the river every day to wash her only dress to look clean and pretty. Her dress start to fade color etc, that it changed in color. One day she was so sad crying at the river, when her sister Yemaya saw her in such state of poverty that touched her heart. At that moment, Yemaya felt very sad and told her don't cry anymore I am the owner of all the riches of this world and the ocean, as such I can share some riches with you. At that moment, Yemaya who had a long beautiful hair cut her long hair and gave it away to Oshun with many riches. From this oddun, Oshun daughters can't cut their hairs, also they must love and care for Yemaya! Ache!

Osun is also the symbolic reference to the solar plexus chakra one of the three feminine chakra (crown chakra and sacral chakra ) Solar plexus also being the color yellow and it being where the hips are the honey is a reminder of her confidence within her being able to flow like water knowing that the water represents things that pass by when things don’t work out her dancing is that of the ocean showing how free flowing she can be and confident enough to rise above conflicts , I mean her number is 5 the number of change

Interesting! I had a dream a couple.of days ago about this feminine dark presence in my room that reached out and slapped.hands with me, which was a bit terrifying but im order for me to pass the fear test I had to embrace the darkness and the unknown. Once I submitted and released my fear I was congratulated with that hand slap. Whats even more interesting is that my solar plexus has been activated and burning feeling (its comparable to drinking alcohol, that feeling of a burning sensation in your stomach after taking that first drink ) for a while now. Not sure what any of it means Plus i have been seeing 111 and 11:11 lately? And papa legba came to me in physical form after i performed the crossroad ritual,......sooooo.I have no idea what any of this means! As im writing this my solar plexus is activated. Weird

Oshun’s honey pot around the waist reminds of a narrative my husband told me about the hidden feminine power of women. He narrated to me that women don’t understand that to have power in a world that is dominated by men is to appeal to their weakness and their weakness is being wanted by the feminine, he said to dominate men you have to be “fuckable” you have to walk into the boardroom with warmth and charisma, he says this sensuality is not only in how we are dressed but the grace we exude that becomes a magnet for a man, he says women need to learn to allow men to foolishly believe that he can come to her rescue, this is the fuckability part… you don’t become weak and actually an easy lay but with that soft grace you make men believe that they can do anything to be in your good books, you attract them to the beautiful softness that you exude (the honeypot). He also mentioned that most women he sits in the boardroom with dress femininely but are hard to work with for a man because they create sort of a war zone in the work space, they compete with men, and a woman can’t compete with a man because a man is born to excel at manhood, as a result men see her as not a leader but an opponent and start treating her the way he would treat other men in a battle… he says the power is in allowing men to be who they are by being yourself in all your truth, which then becomes very magnetic for them… he says when you master this as a woman, it doesn’t matter what you wear but you’ll most definitely yield so much power that before men realize you’ll be in charge, and the men won’t mind being lead by you because their natural instinct is to serve the queen, to have an opportunity to find home in the mother, in the comfort of her grace.

I was raised with many cultures and had my eyes opened at a very young age, I grew up with people of color, Although Im light skinned I felt super close with the community. I always felt connected spiritually with my ancestors and angels. I stumbled upon oshun this year and became overwhelmed with her energy and cried tears of joy. I’ve never felt so connected. I never spoke out about it because I have no one to speak with, so thought I’d share here. Thank you.

I want to take the time to honor and thank your intentions with this video. We are nothing without Ochun ! As an ordained son of Yemaya, I have learned how to be a man, because of Ochun. She teaches us to be gentle with our self image. How to approach life by not forgetting that there a fine thread holding every moment together for you - Lessons will astound you due to there brute form, but they soften you and remind you that you must always have love for yourself - no matter what. She is everything and more. She also happens to be the most beautiful woman I know 💛

I was headed to bed... but you had to drop knowledge I was actually in need of. My best friend who is Nigerian(Yuruba) told me to look up Oshun for my current art show, and because we've been trying to figure out my curse. I'm known in my friend group to be a very pulling(seducer) to people, and for me I never understood my allure. My male friends say that don't understand why they are attracted to me, especially being because they're heterosexual; and my female friends too. I've never look at this energy as a power, though I've always called it the Phoenix Force(which is very reflective as of Oshun). Thanks for the video and links, I have much to study.

I was quite clear, and if you are familiar with my work at womenlovepower.com you would know, this video has nothing to do with worship. I am not involved in any spiritual practices involving Oshun and that is not what my platform is about. In the beginning of the video, I explain that I use mythology from ALL over the world to explore archetypes and parables that can better help us understand the human condition. In that regard, I follow the tradition of Carl Jung who often relied on mythology in his psychological work. I have been involved in this work for over a decade and while I occasionally take advantage of pop cultural trends, because it's nice to meet people where they are and take them where you want to go, I don't profess to be anyone's spiritual guide nor am I jumping on any band wagons. This is my life's work and I take it quite seriously. Thanks for watching.

You are Stunning and intelligent, Classy Nubian 👑, If I had a daughter I would love to have woman like you to teach her how to not be brain wash by social Society mores. To be honest most respectable families sought out sucessful husbands and families for their daughters. The sons did not marry for love but security and off spring to build wealth ect. A family unit. In time they grew to love each other from the arrangement. You had men with land , stock, 💰. Black men that became free from slavery who had a education, or Trade became sucessful. Rose wood the movie shown black people owning their own town black businesses. Just a example. Everyone will not be rich but Men stood for something and having pride in being head of the house with a good woman too be his gift from God. A man that finding a wife is a good thing. The times now are wicked fill with deceit with greed, lustful nature's, I feel a woman should not soley rely on a Man or any one but God to survive.

No, no really! There are books about this religion that definitely settle down in Cuba after being brought in by Africans to Cuba. As of today, many Africans have visited and continue direct contact with the teachers of that religion in Cuba. They are very surprise that the essential of this religion still remains intact in Cuba. You need to search for books in English which I am not 100% sure if there are many up there. However, I know that most of these books have been written in Spanish! LOL I am Cuban, raised in Cuba that's why I know so much about the religion etc......

Most of the music played in this video is by an ensemble called Abbilona. Many of their recordings are on RU-vid and Spotify. They've done multiple albums for each major Orisha venerated in Lukumi, including Oshun of course. Beyond the recordings in this video there are a ton of Orisha music recordings that are relatively easy to get ahold of. There is also Lazaro Ros (ibae), who did a tremendous amount of recordings of Orisha music. There is also Merceditas Valdes (mentor of Celia Cruz), Amma McKen (who I think is the best akpwon/singer in the recorded history of Lukumi music), Roman Diaz, Emilio Barreto, Sandy Perez, Milton Cardona (ibae), Omo Alagba, and Francisco Aguabella (ibae). They have all released albums and video content of Lukumi (Afro-Cuban Orisha) music, much of which is only a click away here on RU-vid. There's also a book called Orin Orisha: Songs for Selected Heads by John Mason, which provides translations of most of the more common Lukumi songs for each Orisha as well as several other books about Bata drumming and Guiro, which can give you more background in the instrumental aspects of the music. If you are interested in Orisha music more broadly, Ella Andall is a great place to get started for Shango Baptist music from Trinidad. There's the Mavambo Trio and Jorge Alabe for Candomble music from Brazil. Asabioje Afenapa, and Chief Adedayo Ologundudu, and Owomide for Isese music (Nigeria). Those are all traditional oriented recordings. There's also all the popular music (hip hop, salsa, electronic, rock, etc.) that references Orishas in respectful and positive ways which is a much longer post.

Just stumbled on this now after watching other takes on Oshun. I am Oshun energy. I have been tru the mill with loosing my power. Am still struggling at 60. Learning IFA for 3 yrs now but bcuz of the structure of Traditional Yoruba religion I feel stuck. Why? No Ebo or Sacrifice it takes a miracle to break tru. I do add other chants, prayers, affirmations to my life. I speak to my priest and he tells me to believe in all Orishas. Am realizing that my power has to come back by my own intuition guiding me. Waiting for thousands of dollars to get power is to me like pulling a heavy boulder. I love this video. I need to write some stuff down. Wow. Thank you.

Love bliss if the Ẹbọs are properly done, that's just the end of all those misconceptions and struggle you are going through! That's the reality and they don't cost the thousands you mentioned, just the right Ẹbọs! Good luck!

candra pollock I will recommend to you www.daydreamalston.com and you can connect with the lady owner! She's has gone through all the processes of what you might be ambiguous to you! Another good one is www.obafemio.com, he is an Ifá priest, whom I think will help with all knowledge bases you might need! Good luck!
