On September 6, 1960, Matikhrü, a Pochury village came under
the attack of the 16th Punjab Regiment of the Indian Army.
This was a result of the attack on the 14th Assam Rifles at Thuda,
and the subsequent shooting down of a Dakota by the Naga army.
The Indian Army went on a rampage and search operation in the area,
that finally reached Matikhrü. The mass killing left nine dead. They were
all fathers.
All the menfolk residing in the small village died that day.
