Let’s paint a Hedgehog character! Using Watercolour and Gansai Tambi

Hello and welcome to this week’s video
I wanted to show you some clips from my most recent painting, a Hedgehog character with their foraging finds! I really enjoyed painting this one and would like to do some more woodland characters. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them!
To make this painting I used
• Schmincke Horadam watercolour
• Kuretake GANSAI TAMBI Art nouveau set
• Daler Rowney mixed media paper
• a mix of coloured pencils including Polychromos, Derwen and Luminance.

Adorable and I love all the details and colors and you pulled ittogether beautifully. Love that flower palette too it's got the double petals which is awesome, I haven't seen one like it before. 😊

What did you use for the sketch? I'm noticing it's waterproof and looks great - is it waterproof ink? did you draw the sketch in pencil first? would love to hear more about this process

Hello, I didn't use ink I used a coloured pencil by Faber Castell they are nice for line work :)

What kind of ink do you use for the outline? The stroke variation suggests it's not a pen (unless you use both fineliners and brush tips) but it stays pretty waterproof and I'd die for a waterproof ink of that brown/sepia tone. I've tried a few but the only one that manages to truly resist water is black india ink. T_T

Hello! Its not ink its actually coloured pencil, the one I used for this painting was a polychromos by faber castell. I think the colour was either burnt sienna or caput mortuum, I can’t remember but I use them a lot for line work. They blend well in to the watercolour and have a nice softness that I found hard to achieve with pen and ink. They hold a good point which makes them good for line work. Hope this helps! 😊

@@washedoutwyvern Wow, the lines are very thin, I would have never guessed a pencil (I have a heavy hand with those, lol). Thank you so much for replying, I shall try this option out as well.
