Every time I learn about how much hoarding of craft supplies other crafters do, I feel slightly better and less alone. "You never know when I might need this" was something I'd say A LOT as a child, and now that I've resumed crafting as an adult... my mother has just sort of given up on me. She even encourages it. Probably because she benefits from having ready-made cards to hand when a birthday crops up. The busiest month for birthdays in our family is November, so she'll definitely see the benefit in late October, when the first wave comes along.
I feel strongly that Artists need Supplies... a variety and diverse range of Supplies... we never go to a Craft Shop to ask for 1 Sticker or a Teaspoon of Glue because that is all that we need today... we LOVE Supplies and visualise the possibilities, maybe not in every sheet in a Paper Pad, but many of them speak to us or we wouldn't purchase it. I encourage you and all Artists to eliminate the word 'Hoarder' out of your vocabulary, it is another way that we beat ourselves up for loving what we do... The word Hoarder, in recent years, has been bantered around in everyday language, where the Term of Hoarder Clinically describes a very serious Mental Health condition, it is linked to life experiences of ongoing deprivation, lack and trauma. I encourage you to LOVE your Paper Pads and all Supplies as you are an Artist... please don't add to the heaviness of life by calling yourself a Hoarder, I am positive that this is not true or correct, you and I LOVE our Papercrafting and we need Supplies on-hand to create when the moment arrives. 🙏💞
I am very glad for the subject, but the rapid flipping and overall high speed visuals make me woozy. I would rather see a 17 minute or 20 minute video, with a slower speed, like if it is 1.50, please go to 1.25. Thank you. Really love the subject, more shop-your-stash and soften-up-about-hoarding sounds good. Thank you.
I laughed out loud when you said that if someone asked you if you had any 12x12 pad(s) you didn’t want and your answer was a quick “NO!” I almost spilled my drink! I LOVE your videos!!!
I’d be quite happy to take some of those pads off of your hands and donate them to a charity I help with, enabling women to feel better about themselves!! Xx
I have an ENTIRE SCRAPBOOK STORE full of papers, dies, stamps, pads, ephemera, brads, buttons.... Literally everything. It's stored in my restored summer kitchen (packed full) and displayed in the upstairs of my 200+ year old farmhouse, 4 full rooms on 37+ shelves (paper only) 😬. And yes, I am like you, I will never let them go. Reason - they all were here right before my life was destroyed 😢. I'll never be the same, but I shall hang on to what I can of my "old life" ❤ because it was a grand life. It's my happy place❤
So very sorry to hear that your old life was destroyed. Don’t know the circumstances, but I do know that trusting in God does make a difference. In this world we will have problems and chaos, but our Savior helps us to be at peace. Holding onto your craft room is a good way to hope. Maybe one day, you will be able to do more paper crafting and be able to smile again.
Ann when I read the title I burst out laughing, but when you said you had 70 12x12 paper pads I didn't feel so bad lol. Stunning card, so elegant. Thanks for a great tutorial.
I definitely don't feel so bad either. I'm a paper collector. I have about 60 12x12 pads and about 30 6x6 pads BUT I have so many containers of loose paper. I did get did of all the papers I didn't like and got rid of 12 x 12's I wasn't attached to but I still have so much. Keep the series going please.
Hi Ann, I am watching this in an emergency room, been sitting here 8 hrs, long story. This tutorial was definitely the bright spot in my whole day. So very well done and elegant looking. As I recover from surgery, hope I can see more of these. Tysm. Blessings.
70? I think I've got you beat but I'm afraid to actually count mine. lol. They are just so pretty!! But you are right. It's ridiculous. Thank you for the ideas you've been sharing!!
This is a great way to use paper and give s gift. I like the card style. To make you feel just a bit better, I probably have close to 70 Christmas pads alone. I won't even guess on how many regular pads I have.
I'm pleased to say I only have one pack of 12 x 12 the reason why I haven't bought more is because I just don't know what to do with them. Hummm I think I'll have to buy more after watching your video. I've got to have a go at this. Great video thanks for the ideas. X
Hi Ann. You are my hero! I never understood where or how to start making a box and I know that my Maths is not bad at all. And when you explained it, it all just clicked into place. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your set of cards and the box is fabulous. Fantastic video. PS When you said you have 70 12x12 paper pads my face was like 😲 You could perhaps consider taking 1 12x12 pad and smashing it by doing a how many cards can you make from 1 pad video. Keep well. 💗🤗
Hi Ann, what a marvelous idea, I love your card design ...so much so that I used one of my old dsp packs and made all the cards for my team mates card swap for the month of June. They sure will be surprised. Thanks so much for the great tutorial ... Ann in Canada
Yep, that is a lot of patterned paper! Of course, you have a RU-vid channel and thus need to make a lot of projects. My collection isn't quite as big, but I tend to want to hoard. The more I like the paper the less likely I am to want to use it ... because once I use it and send it out I don't have it anymore. So I am trying to get in the habit of making myself a card too that can go into an album - or create a different kind of album page. I am not great about doing this, but I just need to get into the habit. Also, for 12x12s, I never want to cut into a fresh sheet, so sometimes when I am feeling brave I'll cut up some pages that I think I can use into 6x6. I am more likely to reach for them when it comes time to make a card. I also do get rid of paper I really dislike or that is totally wrong for cards and other small projects that I do. I will sometimes use them for envelopes. And I know this is very unpopular, but I will sometimes just toss them out.
I'm with Olivia, get rid of them! Life is too short, and my craft space too small lol. For the extra special papers, I frame them. Great for fast decor, plus I get to see them everyday and enjoy them 😊
I have so many 12x12 single sided paper pads. I love these videos to use up the paper. Some videos on using up a whole pad would be awesome!! Beautiful cards!
Great idea to use up paper pads. As I’m getting older I’m using what I have instead of buying new stuff. If I live to be a hundred I won’t use all the stash I have.
I'm with you Ann. I've started shopping in my own stash--there are so many things I forgot I had that it has turned into a joke with my husband and sons.
Thank you Ann for sharing this beautiful idea! I LOVE all my paper pads and always hesitate to use them, instead I buy more 😂 but now I will try to do something similar and gift to friends and family 🤗🥰
I love your tutorials! You take us through the card making process step by step so even someone like me, who’s a bit ham-fisted and a complete novice can create nice cards 😁 thank you very much
Wow Ann, your cards are beautiful. I love the design too. I also have a large number of 12x12 paper pads (possibly more than 70). I don't have a lot of time for crafting, but still buy the pads I like when I see them. Let's just say that I'm all set for when I retire...haha. But I love your idea of using up the pads. I have a lot of Graphic45 pads which are perfect for this type of project. And now that you've explained how to make a coordinating box for any size cards, the sky's the limit! What a great idea for gifting. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent. Your tutorials are always clear and easy to follow. I watch all your videos, but don't always comment - I will try to do so more often. Love and best wishes from Laura in Australia x
Great ideas, Ann, and no, you are not the only one that hoards your papers. I don’t think I have that many big ones, but do have a lot of 6x6 ones, but this idea will work well with those also!
For me I just love all my paper pads! ❤️ Each paper. The only way I can use a pad is to challenge myself to do the whole pad. 💯 Way hard. Almost finished one. 😆
I am a hoarder of paper products as well I came to Canada many years ago I knew my Husband and Grandson and thats it not much to do I went back home to visit in Texas 6 times the first year. Then I discovered a craft store near by, then I branched out Well from there 30 years of "collecting" I love my 12x12 paper pads..
You are definitely NOT alone! I have enough dsp to wrap the globe a few times over and enough ribbon to tie it all up with lovely bows! 🙄🤪 Absolutely LOVE the cards and envelopes you've created and it's given me a shove to get using my stack of dsp which is about as tall as I am! 😆 Thank you for continued inspiration and for sharing. Just love watching your video's and learning from you. Cheers, xx 💕
Gorgeous cards Ann, I see your 70 and raise you a hundred (or three!) I am a total 12" by 12" paperstack hoarder! Your tutorials give me hope though and the courage to cut into my precious! (I'm channelling Gollum here lol). Hope Miss Kitty is doing well. Crafty hugs Sarah x
Thanks Ann! I love your tip about turning the paper each time you miter so that you're always working in the bottom right hand corner. Beautiful card gift set!
Ann, your cards are gorgeous!!! I love the paper pad you used. Stunning! Makes me want to buy one more pad! Lol Thank you for sharing such a beautiful project💖 Your videos are so creative, fun and inspiring! Thank you for sharing 💕🌸
I daren't even count how many pads I've accumulated. I have four pads of the one you're using - yes, FOUR! 🤣 I'm going to really, really try to use them and this is a great way to start. Thanks! xo
My 2022 resolution is to use what I have. It’s May and I haven’t got very far so I’m going to try some of your idea which I love. Thank you for sharing them.
Stunning paper. You definitely are not the only one... I have hundreds of beautiful napkins and too many mdf ... wooden pieaces to decoupage .... I could actually open a shop...🤦♀️😂😂
You are not alone. I hate using them lol. I know I have to because that’s why I buy them to make projects with lol. I want more because I only have I think like 10ish and I’m a DIYer channel but I’m a newly obsessed paper crafter lol lol lol. I want so many more.
What a great gift idea. The cards and envelopes are beautiful. How do you buy Recollections and Craft-smith paper in the UK? It is only sold in the USA at Michael’s Craft stores. I have a ton (not exaggerating) of 12x12paper too, and I appreciate these tutorials very much.
@@PositivelyPapercraft I missed that part somehow. Thank you. I’ll be rewatching so I can follow your tutorial and I’ll listen more carefully. Have a great week.
I totally agree, I can't seem to let go any of my paper pads or single papers. Not even my 6x6's. So glad you shared this even though I came across it 2 years later, lol!! You have some really beautiful paper pads. Enjoy!!
Hi sweet lady. What fabulous content today. I made one right after I saw your vid. I’ve been playing with making slimline out of my hoard of paper pads. One mention if I can. If anyone wanted to embellish the cards with more dimensional foam or other fun stuff., you might have to enlarge the envelope or make the card a bit smaller. I’m super in love with this project. I made one for my sister for a little extra on her birthday upcoming. I really liked when you taped the other day and mentioned you being a content creator. I have always appreciated your imagination and the great fun you bring us. Thanks for a three dimensional too! Best! Terrie
No, you are not the only one... 😂. I didn't count individual paper pads, but I have them stored in a vertical rack and from the floor to the top is almost 5 ft... But I'm sorry, I just don't have any to spare 😂😂😂. What is wrong with us? Half the ones you showed are currently in my closet- I'm just thankful they aren't books of wallpaper.
Wow this is perfect! Have a lot of 12x12 paper with larger designs. These would do for sure! Brilliant idea. I volunteer at a nursing home which has a gift shop...going to get cracking with making some card packs to donate to them. Thanks, as always, love your tutorials. Wanda (Canada 🇨🇦)💕
What a coincidence that out of all the papers you showed you took the one I have too and that is the one I use very very often! Not to make a card with but as a background for making card pictures 🤪. Thanks for the video Ann.
Debra, I too would love to know the real answer to this. Plus why we hoard in the first place! I can only guess that it's because with Cardmaking we give away everything we make, so we know we'll never see it again. Plus there's always the nagging feeling that the recipient won't 'fully' appreciate just how 'special' that piece of patterned paper is!
@@M5518-k5u I totally agree with you! I admit that I am a hoarder and I really need to work on it. But others just don't cherish the sentimental value of things the way we crafty people do. I always wonder the same... "Do they really appreciate the thoughts and passion that go into this card?". I've got to learn to just "let it go". God knows my heart, and that's all that matters.
Love this idea. I made everything using your measurements, they were all good, but I found that the box was too big as the envelopes & cards just moved around to much. The box felt a bit flimsy and felt it needed reinforcement. I remade it a bit smaller with reinforcements, and it fits great. Keep up the good work.
OMG I laughed so hard... I definitely hoard paper and paper pads I am scared to use them in case I can't get the paper again... I am so proud of you having 70 pads 🤣🤣
Ahhh I am so glad to see that I am not the only paperpad-addict up here 😅😂😂😂😂 I can’t explain it either… I guess it’s just because they are so beautiful and make me feel happy 😂 myyyy precioussss😂. But serious, what I started doing a while ago is dividing them in 2, because there are always 2 sheets of one pattern. So I have half a stock that I use and half a stock that stays safe in my closet for the rest of my life 😅😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just a suggestion on teaching measurements and how to cut. My mom has trouble picturing anything math related. If you draw a sample and write the measurements on the picture, it helps. You’re amazing!!! Thanks!!!
Great tutorial on gift sets. I will definately be using this to use up my 12x12 remaining pages. Those seem to hang around my craft room for years.... Great way to use up old stuff and move it along.
Brilliant tutorial, thank you Ann. I love the rotating to cut corners on the box, and I love your envelopes too. I haven't got 70 pads but I do have 15-20, and love them, so I'm going to try this. Also, I have cards that are 9" x 5", I'm hoping your envelope can be made to match! ❤👏😊
Wow Ann, really did you say 70 paper pads? Looking forward to seeing all your creativity with them. They are hard to give up or use. I totally understand.
Loving your work 💛👍🏽🙋🏽♀️Glad it’s not just me I have over 100 12x12’s and quite a lot of 6x6. Iv been very precious with them, not wanting to cut into them, if there are 2 of each design I still couldnt use them because who knows when I might need 2 for a project! Iv recently been getting them out and cutting into them…..and nothing negative happened, who knew! I watched a lady called Maymay on here, I think it was titled, what to do with difficult papers, or something like that, it gave me the guts to have a go.
Hi Ann, OMG, this is the video for me. I am a card maker, but love the 12x12 papers. A lot of my pads have large, beautiful images on one corner of the paper. Any ideas on how to turn that into a card? Also, I spotted the Botanical Beauty pad as you were going through your stash. Could you make some cards with that pad...please????? Thank you for sharing your talents. I have subscribed to your channel!
I definitely know what you mean. I have quite a few of the 180 sheet paper pads. It’s not that I I’m afraid 😱 to cut them, but it’s that they’re so pretty 😍 to look at, that I don’t want to waste them. I’m a little jealous of the amount you have 🤭😂 I’ve really been wanting that Eastern Opulance paper pad. It’s expensive to buy but I love the pages. I love your videos, thanks for sharing your ideas 😊
Love this. Question, would you recommend doing all the same card or variety? Same would be quicker. Also I never see anybody sign the backs of cards that they are made by them. I always do. I'm proud to. Would you sign them if you were going to set them? Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed it. Have to make some. Haven't done slim line cards mainly A2.
Brilliant tutorial and use of "what we all have." I was wonderful if you could please tell me what type of glue you have in the squeeze bottle and most importantly, where did you get the squeeze bottle??? If you could include the size of the glue bottle, that would be wonderful. I LOVE all your videos, your voice, your beautiful nails and YOUR ideas!
HI THERE ANN, YOU AREN'T THE ONLY ONE, WHO HAS TONS OF PAPER & HORDS THEM, ME ASWELL. NOT TO MENTION ALL THE OTHER SUPPLIES!!!! (I DON'T LIKE TO SAY, HORD, BUT WHAT ELSE IS IT.) NICE! Do take care. Fl., U.S.A.
