@@johnthomas2485 It's in New Spring after Moiraine's uncle is killed several sisters ask her who in her family would be likely to succeed her uncle and they discuss how her sister would make an awful queen since she's a bit of an airhead and loves being a mother. It's when Moiriane realizes she's being manuevered to become Queen and does not want it.

I'm pretty sure that the water filtration scene is foreshadowing Nynaeve cleansing the One Power herself. I mean, who really needs Rand for that?

@@jakistam1000 In the final for season one two untrained women and another woman who failed out of Aes Sidei as not having enough magic literally beat an entire army. I know this is what they want to be the explanation, but this show is also very arbitrary about when experience matters. They made a conscious choice to neuter the male dragon to make the female characters more awesome.

it's vaguely explained in the books that men grow in power with use and they progress in huge strides. Rand is as powerful at 20 with no training as logain who has been using his powers for years. In the books Logain is in the top ten of men strength if I remember right so not a bad take IMO

According to Robert Jordan's power levels, Rand is power ++1 (the maximum). Logain is ++2. Taim is either ++2 or ++3. The show has claimed that Cliff is either as powerful as, or more powerful than, 2.0. Who, according to the show, is the same strength as Hollister. Meaning Cliff is either as powerful as, or more powerful than, Hollister. They've also pointed out that Mean Girl is considerably _more powerful_ than Cliff, meaning she is also considerably more powerful than Hollister. You can't cherry pick a single data point that's essentially correct, ignore all of the other information surrounding that data point, and declare that the cherry picked point proves your claim (or is even reasonable). In reality, Nynaeve is strength 3, while Egwene is somewhere between 8 and 5 (it varies in Jordan's notes). Power 3 is 9 levels below Rand. And the tables Jordan made for these power levels aren't linear, meaning Rand is likely somewhere around twice as strong as Nynaeve, and potentially as much as 3 times as strong as Egwene, Elayne and Aviendha.

Appreciate the Damodred backup! :) Don't the credits list Not-Galadriel's sister as Anvaere? In which case she'd be the one who liked 'horses and hawking' and had a bad temper. You're thinking of Innloine, who was stubborn, 'not terribly bright', and only cared about being a mother. Good point about the ages; I guess they've aged up Moiraine since her sister's actress is about seventy!

@@SilveryRowOkay I forget about that other sister. I know that they're so important to the plot they're only mentioned in one scene in the prequal novella. Glad we missed out on getting the books adapted for scenes like this and making Liandrin a nice person with a son.

I think warders don't just get "replaced"; if they don't die in combat, they die of old age, still bonded. I'm pretty sure that we've seen some old warders, though I can't recall specifics. Also, the books say that after losing 1st warder, they often don't take another for a long time, if at all. (And if the Aes Sedai are really withdrawn from relationshis with most people, it makes sense that they do need some other close relationship.)

So, an Aes Sedai will release a warder if she knows she's dying to spare him the consequences, but it's a custom nearly as strong as law to release a dying warder from the bond just to spare the Aes Sedai the grief of his passing.

Adding to the prior comments, the bond keeps Warders active and healthy far longer than they normally would be. An old Warder isn't much less effective than a young one, and far more dangerous due to experience.

Aes Sedai _don't_ sever the Bond when their warder is dying, whether from old age, disease, or injury. It's explicitly stated that Aes Sedai hold on to that grief to honor their warder's memory. There's at least one instance where an Aes Sedai refuses to allow another (Nynaeve, I think...) to try to Heal the Aes Sedai to ease her grief from her warder's death. There are also only a couple of instances where an Aes Sedai releases her warder prior to her death to spare the Gaidin.
