It's a good radio. When set to 4watt deadkey it swings about 20watts. Perfect for low drive. All the way up it deadkeys 10watts and swings 50watts on my meter. Sideband and FM perform perfectly. Super clean audio. This is the rig I bought from him. It's solid. It has its spot for me maybe not for everyone. FM and SSB is just awsome. Spot on frequency.
It's a great radio. If you press the UP and DOWN mic buttons together, it will read out the actual frequency on the display! It will cover all the way from 24.715 to 30.105. It even has a VHF FM receiver built in that you can program with the software (like a basic VHF scanner). It really is an amazing performer. The RX NRC on level 2 sounds amazing .(And yes, as yoy said AM modulation is 100%, and very clean. But as you said it is not a big dirty AM swinger, like many people want (unfortunately). also know as the Retevis QT-40. My radio friend here in the Lower East side of Manhattan 250 has this with the stock mike and the stock mike BOOMS ! Then 202 in the Adirondacks uses with the stock mike also. sounds great. use the mike gain in the Submenu.
I tried this radio with a Galaxy 225 amp just to give it a little punch and with a 2 watt deadkey into amp I could only audio about 40 or so at best from the amp. Totally worthless with this radio. I thought about maybe trying a RFX95 on it but don't know if it would be any better actually. Opinions? Also, what about a Fet change to a 2030+ setup, would it make any difference you think?
good radio for the price love mine . also the Npc does nothing on ssb only am they say if u leave the Npc off the radio will last longer because it pumps the radio too much.
You don't like answering questions anyway. Instead of a simple yes or no, I get a spew about not watching all your videos. No, I haven't watched all of your videos. I've only been watching about 6 months or so, but I have spent about $2000 or so in that time. I have looked at older videos, but I can't watch them all. And what I've seen I like even though you are just doing performance videos for customers or advertising your wares. And there ain't nothing wrong with that, but same radios and same upgrades and performance generally. I'm not watching every video. If that is offensive, then my bad. That wasn't my intention. I'm a 62 yr old veteran and disabled so I do this as a hobby. I don't sell as a habit. It's for myself and a very few family members. I do it to help maintain what skills I do have and maybe pick up a few more learning as I go along. And keep from losing my mind living a hell of a boring life otherwise.
