The problem with space marines is as Richard states is proportions, and the fact that they are 10 feet tall walking tanks. Unless you do special effects like the way they did in the Lord of the Rings to make the haflings and dwarfs look as they should, it is very difficult. Guardsman short is very well done, for no budget.
Seriously. As time goes by, they keep getting bigger and bigger in the fluff. Realistically, so they fit through doors and don't immediately sink up to their kneecaps on normal ground, they are Andre the Giant size, covered in SAPI plates, with a Honda Generator on their back and a Ma Deuce in their fists. That's about as big as they can possibly be without SuperSizing every piece of architecture in the Imperium or making every floor out of pure rockcrete, because their foot would go through the floor of anything less
@@atomicspacebomb7829 Genius. Hire a cast of, erm, little people? I don't want to say midgets. I dunno, it sounds awful either way. Ratlings or Squats really doesn't sound any better. Anyway, have them play the Guard, and it would be the cutest Crusade ever. Maybe Peter Dinklage as Macharius?
Stick with animated film projects. You will have more control, both over visuals and over the content. You have proven that you have a talent, don't let some suit who does not over rule your decisions.
Hey man. Got a a suggestion for you about contacting GW How about you talk to G.McNeil and ask him to put a word in you and ask GW if they wanna work on a project or mb even hiring you Thanks for the videos thus far. Good luck
I personally would love to see a Horus Heresy story from you at some point. You have no idea how epic it would be! Even though people think the first three books of the Horus Heresy are a bit boring, I loved them and I think you'd do an amazing job with that stuff. I'd love to see you also do a "fanfic" story that's lore friendly for 40K. Love you're content man, keep up the great work. Also, YES the Drop Cite Massacre was awesome in Galaxy In Flames!!! I want to see the battle between Loken and Abbadon!! Dang it.... you start mentioning that now I want to get back to Flight of the Eisenstein and finish it LOL. Also yes Loken IS alive in one of the books further in the series, I looked into spoilers, Loken is awesome so I couldn't help it.
You are a talented artist please dont stop you inspired me to start writing again in the hopes I can find someone who can animate tbanks a lot keep em coming
Your content Richard is beautiful. It's clear how much work you put into your creations and I'm looking forward to your new idea however be sure to put yourself first too and take care of yourself. Always a loyal supporter brother!
I made a snarky comment previously, but the amount of enthusiasm you have towards the content we're all here to love - I'm here to support once that sub options show up.
Hey Richard, I think you've done an amazing job so far, really awesome. I especially loved the early style but your personal take on the story is excellent as well. Keep on truckin!
Hi! I appreciate your hard work!!! Don’t be discouraged. You’re innovating and creating amazing art. I hope you enjoy the process, and the fruit of your labor.
It was awesome. Again. Thank you. Looking forward to more from you sir. Can't wait for Helsreach finale. I'll watch it start to finish on my big screen with a few green ones and some popcorn!
I love everything you've done so far. Out of all the film or media that's been out there. Helsreach and Guardsman are amazing and truly capture the atmosphere and spirit of war hammer 40k
Just keep up with the animation, the peak was the style of when it looked like it was hand drawn (before helsreach went to full colour) it's what made you stand out and made me love your work so much.
I ran into your channel after you had 5 videos up for hellsreach !! I was hooked. I went and found the audio book for it.. I’ve listened to it about 5 times already. It’s soo cool seeing the animation for it. You gotta keep it going man!!
Helsearch is awesome keep up the great work Guardsmen looks like it's going to be a knockout punch keep up the great work man. You inspire people to do their own work.
Dude what I’d give to see you do a full-length 40K feature film or tv series. You really do some amazing work. Awesome job, thank you and keep up the good work.
no2 was my favourite concerning presentation. absolutely poetic. The latter ones were ofc great but more detail shows the flaws of the models more and goes a bit too anime for me. I loved no2's abstract thought like scene presentation. All in all it was an amazing journey you took us on mr Helsreach and I dearly thank you for that
Guardsman was absolutely 10/10 amazing the first time and only better each time I've seen it after that. You are a gem to the 40k community and we are so lucky to have you!
What I want to see is a 40k show set shortly before the start of the 30k great crusade, on some forgotten human world fighting against a xenos invasion, such that there is no strong indication it's even in the Warhammer 40k universe. Strong characters, heroism, fatalism, and sometime at the end of say, season 3, a primarch shows up with space marines. Surprise audience, you're all Warhammer 40k fans now!
While I think it is a great idea to expose people to the world of warhammer, how would it be a part of warhammer if it isnt strongly correlated to it? I honestly cant see this because if I were to see it, I would know some parts. The hard life of a guardsman, their xenophobia, and how alot of aspects in the 40k world are taken to the extreme. This is warhammer to me, but what is it to just some random guy? The difference between starwars and warhammer? Warhammer is darker and not as melodramatic and war itself is taken to insane proportions. That's what sets it apart and gives it the identity it has. Ex: in star wars, guys spend such a long time building a plant destroying weapon only to have it blown up by rebels. In warhammer, people blow up planets all the time with good and bad people on it. Too little of warhammer's identity and people dont see a difference . Just guardsmen fighting aliens? Where have we not seen humans fighting against aliens before? People lose interest. But add the identity of warhammer, the religion to a god emperor who may or not be there, space marines who are so strong that it is debatable if they are even human anymore, the tech priests that act more like a computer program, and the fanatical battle sisters who are still very human. This is the flavoring I want to see, not some dime a dozen sci-fi paper backs with an unoriginal plot.
@@MrTetrisz It took me awhile to become a 40k fan, and largely that happened because of a friend and the need to fall asleep after all night shifts, so the soothing voice of Archwarhammer helped me pass out. I think I basically got hypnoindoctrination by listening to hours of Arch and Luetin whilst sleeping. Warhammer 40k has ruined Star Trek and Star Wars for me, and I agree. Still, the two options I see are either go for an inexpensive to produce show, or a show that eases into the setting. Have you seen Space: Above and Beyond? That's the kind of grit I could see in a guardsmen series. I do think playing around with both 30k and 40k is a good idea, because 30k shows just what was lost for 40k. Maybe a series based around an interrogator in service to an inquisitor? That could have few expensive shots, and since a lot of the inquisition is like a combination of horror and sherlock holmes, it could be awesome.
Dude you nailed it, if anyone should produce/direct a 40k movie i vote you. you did it justice; i was surprised partially when i saw the space marine. p.s From the guardsman I was thinking the same thing i would love to see the space marine (see his human side) and the guardsman get out happy ending, well (40k style).
Guardsman was a VERY good short, my thanks for it. Hope it get you something more than appreciation. One point though - your flak armour (according my friend) seem a little bit plastiq-like. Floppy little bit more than it maybe should. Eitherway - GOOD film and crossing my fingers for you in your further projects :D
I wasn't aware at all of there being a SM, and when he finished the sentence.. holy mother of shivers. Pure joy. And while this of course varies a lot from person to person, but only thing I didn't like about the Space Marine was the helmet. There are so many different visualizations of it of course, but I just didn't like the really wide mouth/vox intake. DeviantArt user Joazzz2 makes 40K models for GMOD/SFM and those are imo some of the best renditions. Another DA user being fonteart. As for the finale, Keep it like the later stuff. Ep11 and 12. Ep9 style isn't bad either, but at least not the low frames.
Man, even despite the fact that I already read the book, I can't wait for the last part of Helsreach! I got more hyped over this than any shit Hollywood's been putting out these days!
How about a animation with chaos like hellsreach just with chaos would be so nice. Guardsmen really good nice details , like the eyes of the guardsmen that means from Cadia right ? A animation about world eaters would be soo great. BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOD
I remember a video from chapter master valrak where he discussed a document of shareholders and the future path of GW, and I remember a segment that the company wanted to explore live-action or sth,,, If you can confirm that and get in touch with GW and show your work you could get a shot IMO
Your right you need sa team to spread the load of creating other stories and that means creating income to support that goal and more importantly protecting that private life outside of the Warhammer Universe. Its exciting to think of what you could do but what the fans don't see or consider sometimes is""the cost of A Dream" and that doesn't relate to money its more the coast on a personal level and what it takes from you and aaway from other things such as family life.. I hope GW wakes up and brings together people such as yourself to faithful recreate Warhammer stories i the visual medium and backs them with appropriate funding because you and others have proven your faith towards GW now its time they repaid the faith and dedication.
I would personaly liked the most that the first 40k movie is set during unification wars, this way you have like "mad maxian" intro in the 40k univers it would be much more appealig for wider public.
New Mexico has a lot of cheap avenues for filmmakers that could help a lot for budget as well a lot of folks that could do volunteer work and the like.
In your opinion is there a possibility for a big movie company to pick up and make a Warhammer 40k film? I honestly dont understand why its never gotten a modern big picture adaptation besides for that animated movie. is it because of GW in some way? Overall great work keep it up if you can and I would love to see some more 40k stuff.
After we saw what Blizzard did with WoW full blown film, which did not do well outside of the hard core gamer, I doubt we will see a WH40k film from GW. However, a DVD release of an animated 40k film moderate budget might make more plausible and business sense.
Mike M (below) has it right. It would only appeal to a narrow audience. Big Hollywood wouldn't touch it, but a DVD release for his animated version would probably do amazing.
robosoldier11 In the eyes of (very liberal) Hollywood, Warhammer 40k endorses fascism, intolerance of the “other” (xenos), and religious discrimination. It doesn’t matter that this is meant to be a theme of how lowly humanity has fallen, in their eyes the fact those 3 things are at heart in the humans and they are supposed to be the *good* guys will turn them off. This is especially true given how many Hollywood producers are Jews and are extra turned off to something that seemingly endorses those 3 things. Plus, non realistic movies in Hollywood right now, be they superhero flicks or sci-fis, apparently *must* have a snarky protagonist and childish humor, which is something that would clash with 40k. And that is why a major production will never happen
What other Black Library books do you like? Both ADB books and other authors. Love the idea of sisters of battle movie but it comes down to the characters; audience needs to be able to connect to them. Not sure what the best Sisters stories are.
Hello to all) It's nice that foreigners are also a fan of the Warhammer 40000 universe) What do you think should have shot the film “Marvel Universe vs. Varhammer Universe40000”) Hello to all) It's nice that foreigners are also a fan of the Warhammer 40000 universe) What do you think should have shot the film “Marvel Universe vs. Varhammer Universe40000”) I would watch this movie)
Do flight of the Eisenstein!, or Aeonid Thiel and the underworld war from the audio drama Censure! It would be a good size audio book but not too great of a burden!
So I got a dumb idea of what you could try after Helsreach - Orkz! I just bought an audiobook on Audible called Prophets of Waaagh!, and it is funny as hell. If you haven’t listened to it, it’s basically about a crew of Ork Mekboyz and their Stomper, Fat Mork, trapped on some desert planet after the Great Rift knocked their fleet out of the sky. It’s a fairly simple plot, the voice acting is great, it’s funny as hell, like I said, and the story itself is already segmented into three 20-minute episodes for roughly an hour’s worth of footage total, so you won’t have to do another twelve segments. Honestly man, you need to look into it - it gives a funny and insightful perspective on the Ork mindset.
Not sure if anyone has suggested it yet, and I know I'm tarty. But have you considered doing "The Black Legion"? I know Abadpn is as menacing as a Cabbage Patch doll, and his head looks like a titty with a tassel on it. But that book is just so fucking epic. I'd throw a gigantic amount of shekels to see that happen.
