I am surprised to hear that anyone would think repentance is old school. I repent every day. That is what keeps me in commune with God. Repentance is vital.
YES, sis! The host on the podcast didn't think it was old school at all, but was commenting based on what she'd seen/heard. I'm so thankful for the grace God gives us to repent. It's what keeps me in commune with Him as well.

I like how you said that repentence is not something general like, “Lord, I am sorry if I may have done something that has offended you,” BUT something specific. I also like how you said that you had deep sorrow. This is something I haven’t felt in a long time. Thanks for this message. It helps to quicken me to be MUCH MORE SERIOUS about praying that God shine the light on the dark spots of my soul. Just because I may not walk in gross sin on purpose doesn’t mean there is no deeper sin in my heart that I may not be aware of.

Repentance will never be old school. It's scary to even hear that but I know that repentance is not taught or preached often because sin is easily accepted.
Like where do we stand without repentance?? We are dead without repentance. I gotta have my relationship with my father. Im walking into heaven, old school is me and I am it.
TRISH509 yes we must ask for forgiveness for our sins and repent. Old school is basically saying that we should not repent anymore because repentance was something done in the past but that's not true. We must repent and turn from sin and get back in our rightful place with God.
1obedience it is true that sin is easily accepted these days... It really needs to change, but there are churches out there that take it seriously... although hard to find, they are there.
I said a prayer for you this morning. My life has really been enriched by your novels and your teachings, and I'm so thankful for many of the things that you share. I just repented for something a few days ago, feelings of bitterness and anger. And it felt new for me. I've asked for God's forgiveness before, but this came along with a genuine heart recognition of my error and a need to make it right. I feel like my heart's posture was different. So this video was right in time with things God has been dealing with in me right now. Thank you for sharing.

Oooh I am 3 years behind … but today is a new day. What you speaking about repentance is what I was doing a long wile ago and slowly drifted away. This is so important . Like you say as long as we in the flesh we have to search daily and repent . I think it will take me all day. But this brings me back to sound doctrine . Amen and amen Kim. Repentance should not be considered old school, is making mistakes old school....? No, we mess up all the time, so we always need to repent. When we are told to repent we should realize that the people telling us to repent are doing so because they love us, they care about our soul. When you repent you acknowledge that you have been wrong, and are trying to make it right with God and in future you are going to try not to make the same mistake again... When you repent you free yourself from the shame you feel, and the weight of the sin.

Repentance is a part of the Christian walk. It goes along with confession. Keep your relationship open with The Lord, it’s hard, but so worth it. He’s sees our hearts anyway!
I'm sure lots of ppl would like it to be outdated....a friend of my mom heard me complaining, and screamed REPENT at me...I was offended and caught off guard. I thought bc I was saved, I was good. Repentance is old school until someone does us wrong! Then we want nothing less than repentance. We don't just want to hear "I'm sorry" we want the one who offended us to be truly remorseful and stop that behavior. We can't be in a healthy relationship with anyone without true repentance. Lack of repentance is an indicator that the heart is very hard. Excellent Word Kim!!! :)

I was challenge to repent to someone I offended. Even though the person didn't hear what was said, God heard it. To make matters worse, I didn't even know the person. So immature of me. God convicted me and sent me to that person to repent. Of course the enemy tried to fill my head with all types of lies and put fear in my heart. I trusted God and it was more important to me to do what was pleasing in His site. I repented to the person. She forgave me and I forgave myself and made a new friend. The lady willingness to forgive me humbled me even more. We are supposed to humble ourselves before the Lord. This has changed my life and I give this testimony to others. When we truly love one another the way God loves us, we will encourage, inspire, and lift one another up with love an truth. We will not tear each other down with negative words, thoughts, nor acts. Glory be to God! He’s on it today. I just watched your testimony and then this cane up. Repentance is an old school word in my eyes, but I THOUGHT I had done that! I confessed of some sins and wasn’t sure why I wasn’t feeling “changed “ or “ “renewed “. After watching these videos of yours..... I knew I had to forgive my mother who is passed away. I have such anger on a day to day basis and I feel like I could snap at any moment. When I was 12 years old a gentleman friend of mothers wanted told her he would buy all 4 of her children school clothes if he could see MY private parts! My mom called him drunk one day while on a “date” with this man. She told me he just wants to look at it and you’ll get more school clothes than the others... I said NO. He got on the phone and I said... yes. My mother came to her senses and never spoke of it again. I knew when he would call asking for me because she would lie and say I had gone fishing with my grandmother. I have never been in a boat a day in my life, nor caught a fish. Needless to say, my relationship with my mother was tarnished. I tried to commit suicide at 15 years old. I just couldn’t take living with this woman!!! She ..... was mean, she drank, she was mad at how her life turned out. She did drugs periodically... I just didn’t want to be alive if this was what “life” was about. I won’t fill up this feed with the things I went through but I KNOW I haven’t truly forgiven her. I got emotional when this was on. I know her life was hard but... 🤷🏽♀️ where does that leave me. I’ve tried numerous times to give this to the Lord, but THIS led me to a different understanding of REPENTANCE!!! thank you! I have to talk to the Lord honestly now
There's nothing "old school" about repentance to me! It's part of renewing your mind and it's definitely required from me on a regular basis! lol In fact, I'm so grateful to God for the opportunity to repent and change. Thanks for this timely message, Kim. I love your ministry. :)
Hey Kim! I’ve always heard that to repent means to turn away from but no one ever explained what to turn away from meant until now. Now I understand. I thought repenting and apologizing were the same. Not so! Repenting is so much more. My God!
Kim...yet again the Holy Spirit shines through you. Truth all the way. When I get convicted from within for a sin it becomes clear that sometimes I actually WANT to stay mad at that 'unkind' person...but the more I get to know Jesus the more I hear this question 'is that the most loving thing to do/say?' When the answer is no...I get praying for the Holy Sporit tonrefine me ao I can BE repentant and act with love. 'Just love them and let God deal with it' is very wise advice xx

Hi. Your videos are so helpful for me as form of study and reflection. I am due to have a baby in 4 weeks and struggle to get to church. Your videos keep me gong along with my own devotional. Thank you. *Repentance should be a part of our everyday lives and something that we keep close to our hearts in our imperfect bodies. When Jesus taught on how to pray He encouraged this saying forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, so ten why should we omit repentance due to the course of time? We shouldn't. It must stay key to our walk with Christ. With that said, in asking God for forgiveness, we must first forgive others who have hurt us or done us wrong. Otherwise we are in turn expecting too much of God to do what we refuse to do ourselves.

Your video was next in my subscriptions after watching a new video of Francis Chan. He was speaking about the book of Revelation, how serious God is about the Church and repentance. Five of the seven churches were exhorted to repent. Then your video on repentance. Repentance isn't old school, it's as old as sin. WoW Kim, did I ever need this today...thank you so much for posting this video. Its hard sometimes to realize that even when the other person is in the wrong that we need to repent of our "hurt" feelings and attitude. Compassion and love for the others must prevail. Your video got me thinking of how many hurt feelings and bad attitudes Jesus could have had along the way, but He never allowed those bad feelings to change the objective of loving and forgiving others. Repentance is NOT oldschool. Its the essence of our salvation. Its as the air i breath. I cant even run from it (and trust me Ive tried) because it will haunt me down and steel my joy. I need the joy of the Lord to be my strength in LOVE LIFE FAITH. No strength no power to be prosperous. I cant afford to live a life without Gods health and wellness. I think people who really worship and fear the Lord will automatically be convicted to repent but there are also people that do sincerely love the Lord with praise and gratitude but unfortunately don't fear the Lord through a heart of worship in spirit and in truth. They wont always sense the conviction because it takes the lifting of the scales from their eyes to see Gods righteousness and wrath as well as Gods Mercy and Grace.
All your messages are powerful, but this was the most raw to my soul. I have recognized my sin today, I was actually at work & I instantly acknowledged it and asked tje Lord for forgiveness. Truth be told, yes that word does sound 'old-skool' to me, and yes my sin had became regular in my life. I do not think there is a better word for its definition tho: Repent: it speaks clear to me, however it is definitely way more helpful to understand it's purpose they way you explain it with such grace. Hi Kim I love your videos and your transparency concerning your relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Yes repentance is " Old School", because it seems like know one speaks or preaches about it anymore , however, I try to live a repented life and pray continuously about insecurities in my life .
I've been back sliding for a long time with the sin of smoking, I no longer hear from the Lord and I don't feel conviction from the Holy Spirit anymore.... I feel sooooooo far from Jesus and I'm worried I'll never get back to Him. And the worst part is even though I don't want to do it and I know it's wrong, I don't truly feel sorry about it but I want to.... I'm scared and don't know what to do anymore, please help me.
1 John 2:1 tells us if we sin we have an advocate...... 1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins His is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.... draw to the Lord and cast your cares to Him because He so cares for you. If you have ask Jesus to be your Lord n Savior He will never leave or forsake you. He knows this struggle you are in. Ask Him to forgive you for depending on the smoking more then Him . My thought is that there is something deeper than the smoking . Ask Him to show you the root that has cause you to be in this addictive habit. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into the truth to set you free. I know He will because He did it for me with drinking. He is a merciful God. Father I ask in Jesus name to bring forth healing and wholeness that only you Lord can bring. Thank you Lord for you know the ❤️ that wants to be healed. You have gotten some great counsel here. What strikes me is that you don't think you can hear from the Lord anymore, but it was the Lord who led you to this video, and to post a comment. He sees you. He knows your struggle. He has not left you. If you've been back sliding for a long time, there's likely a lot more involved than smoking. I pray that you go to the Lord and ask Him to convict your heart, to cause you to feel a godly sorrow over the things that displease Him in your life. Ask the Lord to give you a heart of genuine repentance. Don't believe the lie that you can never get back to Him (I think that's one of the devil's favorite lies). The Lord is waiting. He is working even now. Run to Him and know that His love and grace will be there. He is a deliverer. Cling to Him THROUGH this. He is an almighty and faithful God. Praying for you right now.

Repentance is so critical to our relationship with God. It needs to happen daily. My main struggle is that I'm tired of trying to repent of the same thing over and over. It's one of those things that has a hold on me. I want to bear fruit in keeping with repentance, but how does that look when it comes to addictions?
Amen for repentance. Romans 12:1-2. The carnal mind is enmity against God. Romans 8:9. How can we avoid the wrath to come if we don't allow Christ to change our ways which have been contrary to his ways? Matthew chapter 3:7-15. All righteousness will be fulfilled by the grace of God. Matthew 4:4. Selah. God will quicken our body as long as we are believing him in word and the deeds will follow by his grace. Romans 8:11. Hello Kim! I thank you for this video, it really put some things in perspective for me and I plan to post this link on my blog I'm releasing this Friday, if that's alright with you. I don't believe that repentance has gone away, however I believe the term is seen as old school due to the wrong interpretation of it from religious or legalistic churches. Repentance brings to attention the heaviness of the sin and can bring condemnation and shame if not handled well. I believe there should be more teaching on the steps after repentance because I believe the condemnation and shame that some feel may block them from progressing with God afterwards. This is just a thought.
Kim - how about powerful corporations that ruin people’s lives. They know nothing about “ repentance” but yet they get away with crapping on regular people who depend on their jobs. What about that? Does God give them a break or a passage?
I confess my sins but keep doing them even though I try not too xx eg arguing with my hubby ... I try to keep quiet but then I just get so aggravated and argue back ... I no it’s sinful but it keeps happening xx then I feel guilty ashamed frustrated and more shame xx ... god has been so good to me and answered all my prayers ... y can’t I be a proper Christian like u lol xx
Many times we are trying so hard to reach the next best thing or the main thing, in our journey with Christ I’m thinking it’s all the main thing. But we are trying so hard to reach this level or that we are forgetting those things we first learnt with the song This Little Light of Mine, repentance. It’s not old fashion it’s still relevant in my life and to my walk with the Lord. Heck I wish I was like Job repenting w/out even knowing the sin. Hallelujah!!!

I didn't want to wait too long without saying to God what I did was very wrong. I'm celibate and have been for over a year now. An old ex I loved so much I grew up with got in touch with me. He's married now and live in a different state. I knew this man was carnal and had all the worldly ways as we talked on the phone. As we talked for over 3 days our conversation turned to sex. Now what I did was show him my private part through face time and I saw his. I was so convicted afterwards I stopped taking his calls. I asked god to intervene. I had zero interest in fornicating with him but I may as well have by me showing my private part. I repented urgently and told God I owe my ex an apology for my conduct. I allowed my flesh and lonliness take over. I thank GOD for guarding my heart and intervening when I asked him to. To God be the glory.
Hi Ms Kim, thank you so much for sharing this video 🤗🤗 and for letting the Lord use you mightily. 💗 I have a question for you to please help clarify if u can: I thought repentance was a one-time heart change towards God (same as being born-again in John 1-3), whereas believers are called to confess our sins (1 John 1:9-10) since we have already repented once and for all. Could you please explain if there is any difference between repentance and confession in your view??
I believe repentance is very vital, as a matter of fact I need to learn more about it.. I think it should be taught more. Any suggestions of studies on repentance? I have been asking God to reveal to me the areas in which I need repentance.
I love repentance...ok, well, I personally I've been known to resist actually repenting a time or two (ah hem) but really, as you said -- repentance is not something to avoid. It isn't a negative. It's a grace of God! Repentance is choosing to believe what God says is true and thinking like Him. When we think like Him we will choose to walk that out and live according to His will and desire. It allows us to live in freedom and to be who He created us to be. Repentance leads us to intimacy with the One who is life and to live in true abundance. Not repenting has us living in agreement with and aligning ourselves with the one who hates God and us. The enemies of God -- the world, the flesh and the devil and all his cohorts -- want us to live anything but in abundance. Those same enemies distort the beauty and wonder and joy of repentance and deceive us into believing it is something to be avoided. Somehow we think that repentance means we will be denied something. Instead, repentance leads us to abundance. Repentance is something to be embraced. It's a blessing. This doesn't mean it's easy. The Flesh does not like to be brought into submission -- but there is joy and wonder and a sense of God's grace and strength when we allow the truth to reign and let the Holy Spirit do this work in us. Having said that, I need to listen to my own "preaching" and surrender more readily to God's truth and leading and stop letting the enemies of God and my good convince me that anything less than agreement with and submission to the One who loves me is true living. P.S. I do want to say that while we should sorrow and grieve over our sin -- I don't always because I don't understand the full depth of it...however, I think it's important that we don't wait for the emotion of sorrow -- if God has revealed I am believing and embracing a lie and living in a way that causes Him sorrow and grief, if He reveals His truth I need to embrace that by faith regardless of what I feel about it. I can know that thinking and living in a way other than God's is destructive and horrible enough that it is weeping and wailing worthy whether I FEEL that or not and therefore I should take seriously the call to begin thinking and walking in HIS way rather than my own.
