Let's Talk About Stars Align...(ROBLOX)

Original and high effort roblox game try not to get stuck in development hell due to scope creep challenge (99% Fail 🤯):

I'm glad you called out the amount of reworks world 1 has gotten. Like i get that reworks are meant to make it better but when you spend years seemingly just reworking the first world over and over then it kind of becomes a long-term development issue for the game in general, what about the other worlds?

The game is not canceled and never has been, games just take a lot of time and you dont know what goes on behind the scenes, it isn't really fair to compare us to other teams when you don't even know any of the context behind the decisions we make When Scarlet and I were given ownership of the game we were left with a horrible foundation, outdated concepts, terribly unoptimized assets, basically no story in place and a ton of other issues which we had to somehow scramble to fix after the devlog 3 trailer dropped (which was published pior to our leadership). Yeah the game has been in the works for roughly 6 years but current day Stars Align is a completely different iteration of the game made under a mostly different team of people, its not like the same exacty version of the game has been in the works for over half a decade.

Yea... I cant imagine how it was being a fan waiting since 5-6 years, have been a fan of it only since 2020, and ye... The game is still at stage 1.

Sometimes, things should be let go, laid to rest. The dev team seems to struggle to be confident and feel satisfied with their product.

I don't know anything about stars align, so maybe everything I'm about to say doesn't apply, though from my experience roblox games that undergo lots of revisions are a HUGE red flag the truth is that unless everything goes perfect, many fragments of old code and ideas are going to remain and make the game a mess while new ideas pile on faster than you can add them all. The bigger and messier your game is, the more random bugs you couldn't have possibly accounted for start to appear, and after a certain point fixing bugs just causes even more of them to appear. Couple this on with roblox' crusty engine and roblox updates that cause even more bugs and you've got a recipe for disaster. it's not as simple as "stop revamping the game", though. The rough thing with making a passion project is that passion can very quickly run out. If they stopped remaking the things they don't like, there's a high chance they would've ran out of passion a lot faster. ~~or maybe none of this is the case i dunno i'm running off anecdotal evidence~~ Personally I feel as though making an emotionally charged video on the topic isn't really helpful, especially when it derails half way through. A lot of this could've been talked through in DMs, I think.

Kudos to you for pointing out the world 1’s numerous reworks, the fact of the matter is we’ve already gotten to play world 1 twice (once under af3). They should have focused on the other worlds instead of constantly thriving for perfection on one world.

honestly, after looking at both sides of the spectrum with this video and everything else… i’m a bit more inclined to believe that this could possibly be the end of stars align. of course, I’m not saying it’s going to be cancelled, but you made some valid points about how they’ve been stuck on W1 for so long… and speaking from personal experience… I literally haven’t touched anything related to stars align aside from the engine demo ever since the demo came out… I know team nova is working hard, and I’m not really a developer, but lowkey things have been really stale recently, even with the small and brief weekly updates (which stopped ages ago) so it’s a bit hard to invest anymore time on it. stars align is feeling like the “sisyphus pushing a rock” of roblox atp

Roblox has a current problem where it will show your most recent “Models & Packages” on your profile regardless of your privacy settings. I don’t know how or why this happens as it clearly seems to work for some people and for others it doesn’t. It became enough of a frustration that we just ended up using Save as File instead.

i was watching this video with sinusitis stressed af, because y'know, having your nose itching is not something that makes you happy. It's clear as crystal at this point Stars Align just doesn't know what to do anymore, it's completely lost on it's fame and has developers repeating stuff all over the place wich is a TERRIBLE image to give to clueless people who don't even know what the game is all about, in fact Stars Align fans gotta have some rope attached to them to still stay loyal to the game after seeing W1 previews lots of time and be like "yay i'm finally gonna pla- oh they're revamping it again guess i'll have to wait more then". Chances are Stars Align just lost itself because it just wants to be perfect so bad that it ends up messed, i'm not familiar with the SA community or whatever related to the game but from what i heard people have been saying "oooh you don't know game development" when in reality their own devs don't seem to know it too. It's just unexplainable, you have THOUSANDS, not hundreds like most platformer games, but THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE waiting carefully for a GLIMPSE of full, released gameplay for them to chew on after being so hungry for years. You could feed them any official, released content (SA probably don't know what that means) and they would explode in happiness, wich is something they don't seem to understand, their game is already well built, enough to be a platformer MVP yet they wanna make it even better, just keeping the cycle on and killing their own fans with nothing but a terrible waiting state that will end in at least like, a gazillion years. Regarding the chair or the inventory picture, ANYBODY could do that, but because YOU showed it Scarlet was like "HOW DARE YOU SEE MY PUBLIC INVENTORY PREVIEW" and just reduced your existance to atoms. This is a great way of gatekeeping your game, if you don't want people finding things about your game why not just remove them for trying to do so? Now, the chair thing might've been an internal joke that could've been treated in a better way but ofc because it's SA they will just ban you for saying something they didn't like, yea i know it's way easier to ban people rather than talking to them about their actions, it's really much harder to type in your Samsung Galaxy J2 "hey man i didn't like what you posted can you remove it and not do it again?" As a final message, SA is just barely a grown up game, if the devs act in such a childish way (not all of them ofc, there's some who still got some respect) the fans will certainly act the same way, for the surprise of 0 people, they do. I still respect anybody who does like this game even after having their butts kicked with yet another revamp, but i'm not crazy excited to play it, if it is to hold me into an eternal cycle of waiting for the bare minimum, i will just play a front page game.

After some help from Siomai Siomai, this game is obviously gonna stay pretty alive.. Now the Devs just have to keep working, but idrk how they can just do that after 6 years.

Game will not be finished ever. They have been working on W1 for 6 years. Imagine having to wait for however many worlds the game has. And bonus worlds. Like I would be fine with Adventure Forward 2.5 if it was finished. July one was amazing but idk. If they cancel it the engine demo is more than enough.

I loved adventure forward and other creations made by explosive. When I saw Stars Aligned, I joined the server around maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Never checked on it and had a bad feeling about development after the first rework.

Hii! Spunky Team Nova person here! I mean no harm in this but you have almost zero knowledge on the process or inner workings of making a game, we are people too! As we make the game our skills grow to allow us to make a better product, the world we are making is definitive and (shocker) takes time to fully complete. Along with this, when we say "hiatus", that does not mean a game is cancelled, and your arbitrary definitions of hiatus causes nothing but harm and misinformation! That's all I really have to say on this for now, hope this helps!

Imo I’ve always had so much happiness from ttg, and the story between it and gameplay stuff. I do also think about the hub and other worlds. However, the devs also have to work with personal and work situations so sometimes they will not be entirely able to work on their passion project. I think we should still give the devs the time they need, even if is has been half a decade, and even if they’ve been remaking ttg. We only need to have faith in them .

Ranting about getting banned for the entire last half of an update video is going to cast doubt on how harsh you were about the actual stuff that Stars Align fans care about. I agree with some of the stuff you said and I have better things to do but I got a pretty good hunch that all the shade you threw at the Stars Align crew and game might be to some extent fear mongering or unfair criticism.

I'd rather have the game be in the most perfect vision than some bullshit but that me though. I said this before on a video about oddity, silksong, and fnf pre-update, but man. Triple A's can be secretive as hell, no backlash Indies will go in hiatus or not post shit and its the end of the world for some people. I tell people be patient, who knows whats going on behind the scenes. Until we get shit, lets not make assumptions.

sa discord mod here (lee), these are my personal opinions i just want to say this video is based off of pettiness because of your ban within the discord server it’s okay to critique the way the game is managed but your pettiness is clearly coated in your ‘fair critiques’ we banned you for very valid reasons and we have receipts. you’re treating this like drama when there was no drama to begin with. i don’t care how many people you have on your side, it’s just nice to know that you’re still so fixated on a community you’re rightfully banished from especially if you’re that petty you obviously have no concern for the game or community and you exclaim your points like you do - anyone with a brain wouldn’t intake this as actual, fair criticism as you don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes.
