Erh, but they don't, do they? Sure, if the current economy was physically possible going forward, they'd probably ace it, but it ain't. Look up 'deep warming'. It doesn't matter if we retain solar heat with CO2 or supply it directly to the atmosphere in the form of heat pollution. The atmosphere will warm regardless of the source. If we continue to grow the world economy for a century going fossil free tomorrow wouldn't save us from climate chaos, as growth and rise in energy demand is inseparable.
It's only because the big corporations didn't like what they heard in their big meeting with Trump a couple of months ago. We're lucky he's an incompetent dictator wanna be.
Powell is a Republican. Reading this is so depressing for me!😕 In the 1980's I tried to warn people that Reagan was paving this road. 4 decades later, here we are, just like I said. Now I'm again trying desperately to warn people that is the party, not just one idjt. I'm getting about the same reaction. Wake up America! Wealthy Elite Capitalists are the problem. Fascism is a result of Capitalist Greed and Competition. Don't repeat the same mistakes. America.
Wake up America! Wealthy Elite Capitalists are the problem. Fascism is a result of Capitalist Greed and Competition. Don't repeat the same mistakes. I will vote Progressive for progress/positive change, then vote Blue down ballot for harm reduction. Remember how Beau said a number of times; "Dems are center-Right-wing." Only Progressives here are even Centrists. The Left has No representation. That's a massive problem.
I live in California and I’ve been taking a photo each time I buy gas. Always the same station. It’s down nearly $2.00 per gallon over the past 18 months. I’m happy and I pay the high gas tax.
@@rylian21 where in Washington ? State or DC? I just checked my gas buddy app, and the highest I saw in Washington State was around Walla Walla …at $4.89, in Seattle the highest I found was 4.69 as Washington DC it’s under $4.00.
I was in southern California this weekend (Imperial Valley mostly) and it was in the 4.75 range, which is definitely down from a couple years ago when I saw 6-7/gallon a lot.
I’m a long time Democrat and they definitely do NOT “always deliver.” If they did, a strongman like Trump would’ve never become popular or have been elected as president. Know your history.
@@Newbie-mu7uf Forget the representatives. Send a message to the big CORPORATIONS by speaking with your purchasing dollars. Supply and Demand still rules, and they have a fiduciary responsibility to obey!
Jerome powell is a republican and has been trying to cause fear in people all along trying to make Biden administration look bad! Beware ! Do you realize the federal reserve is a private bank.
Exactly. For those who haven't heard. The Department of Justice is Sueing Real Page. Real Page is a company that got apartment owners to let them price fix. If you go to the DOJ website on RU-vid it's right there. I hope this is not the last. I've heard the meat industry does the same thing. Bottom line Biden/Harris got this ball rolling, a little slow but rolling in the right direction.
@@WBS001 This is a "both / and" situation....We need to let the corporations know both with our wallets AND with our comments....AND we need to have more contact with our representatives in order to hold them accountable that the rules and laws apply to all corporations across the country. One corporation at a time won't even make a dent....
He deserves partial credit. He's done things that help the economy like infrastructure and support for unions. Decisions made by OPEC, those affect us. Trade policy in foreign countries is important. And it needs to be repeated lest we forget, the pandemic caused awful inflation. The best thing Biden does for the economy is to let Powell do his job.
No they won't 😂 history will look at him as the only enabler to a genocide. The only leader who backed children being beheaded. Joe forced there to be no primary then backed out when it was too late to do anything. He will go down as one of the 5 worst in history. Kamala and tim are his only hope for any redemption at all.
In Phoenix AZ, I saw gas at 3.39 a gallon. A year ago, it was well over 4 bucks. Once Putin gets his butt kicked by Ukraine, and the summer blends go back to standard (maybe in November), I'll bet a box of donuts from that shop in Georgia that Shady Vance visited that prices will drop to upper 2's.
This mindset kills me. People act like Biden and Trump drove around and set gas prices and the whole time big oil is posting records on profits year after year.
I know we have economic issues but take a good look at the rest of the world since 2021 compared to the US... We are crushing everyone else's growth numbers, wildly in most cases...
Inflation!!!!! MAGA nuts crying about inflation need to look at the global post covid recovery..... The Biden administration did a great job all things considered

I find myself looking forward to Belle 🐎 saying, "Y'all have a good day!" because she's so real and genuine. I find myself smiling before she even says it, because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. 🏹 Beau, sorry, but when you say the same, it just feels like a perfunctory goodbye. You deserve respect for making such an excellent choice, though. 🇨🇦
I love her, she’s really gotten good at this progressively (lol). I’m probably older than her at 48, but I think of her and Beau as my people, almost like family.
... been pretty happy overall with how the Fed has stayed calm and focused on the major stuff and doing it's job and not headlines, how our government should (but generally doesn't) work...
I'm so glad things are falling inline. We still have much work to do, but maybe those who believe "It's the economy, stupid" can sit down and vote Harris.
That's the spirit! We need to convince well-meaning people (or at least they think they are) to vote with love for their fellow man and woman and thus in their own interests. Fearmongering should be a sin.
What makes me laugh is seeing Trump comparing the price of gas when the country was in shambles after his mismanagement of the Covid and now, when every country in the world went through a tough recession, but where USA did much better than any other country.
A cut of 0.25% should be the right amount. Rushing to cut rates is not good for long term stability in the markets, even if it does make more money for those who profit off of volatility. Most employees and employers do best with stability. .
cuts are almost always at .25. i'm not gonna go back and check, but my memory suggests that .5 adjustments were for times like the internet explosion, or the great recession, when the economy was shifting suddenly and massively.
@@vforwombat9915 0.25% is the size of a standard rate cut/increase, but a lot of people are claiming that the Fed needs to act more aggressively. These tend to be the same people who have been claiming that the Fed needs to cut rates for the at each of the last half dozen FRB meetings. .
@@roguemedic "that the Fed needs to act more aggressively" yeah. i don't follow economic news that closely, but i remember this argument all the time every time a rate adjustment comes up. way back in the 90s durirng the internet boom i was subscribed to newsweek, and so i'd see that argument every few months, over acting aggressively or playng it safe. so you're right, i get your point, but i'd say we're probably gonna see a .25.
So much of the investor class got addicted to easy borrowing the whole time the rates were at/near 0, they're going to wail from now on that anything that doesn't cut to zero means the Fed isn't doing enough. We all just need to get used to tuning them out.
I had some troller screeching that a 7% mortgage was unsustainable. I reminded him that 6.75-7.25 was normal in the late 90's, but the real estate bubble in 2006 to 2008 was so much higher. He squawked,, really loud when I mentioned building EQUITY then re-financing a mortgage (gasp-common sense).
These people know and do stuff well above my pay grade. Glad it seems to be working out. I haven' had to adjust really at all to the higher prices. I'm not spending like there's no tomorrow ether. I guess I just live within my means.
Hello 🤗 dear Tom! How many youngsters do you have to work with in disasters? Or did I mistake that as yet a desire to do? 🤔 It's hot here & muggy 🥵 I'm sure tho nothing compared to where you are. My best! 🫂
Howdy sweet Victoria! Smooth, makes me miss operating street sweepers when Smooth Operator was new on the radio! Thanks for the memory!@@victoriajohnson-parratt6975
Price stability sounds really nice. Especially if you've been price gouging for a couple of years, and you can now keep your prices artificially high until the market eventually catches up. If it ever does. If almost all of what you consume is produced by a handful of corporations, that can take quite a while.
The pandemic issues were abused heavily afterwards, and I wouldn't like to have seen our donalds figures just now if he'd won in 20, careful work by your administration reaped benefits. The rest of us a jealous🏴
Belle, I know it was probably hard to jump in and fill Beau's shoes. Keep up the great work. You seem more comfortable and natural every day. I hope Beau is enjoying his new change of pace.
Well my first thought is that if Biden didn’t win in 2020 the economy would probably have collapsed and it also wouldn’t be our only problem!!!!💙💙💙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
He's not perfect, no one is. But Biden is easily the best president our country has had in over 50 years. Policy > cult of personality. Most Dems need to stop being ignorant about policy, too. I will vote Progressive for progress, Blue for harm reduction. Remember Beau's words: _"Dems are center Right-wing."_
@@victoriajohnson-parratt6975 : Yea. It made me too mad to cry at first. So what if he had a really bad sick day? People so easily forget what Beau told us more than once; "Dems are center Right-wing." Or they blocked it out like Red Scare made most people block out how they're scared to just read a single Leftist source, and yet they insist the USSR was, and China is, Socialism. Or even more ignorantly; they call it "Communism." 🙄 The DNC wants to keep Trickledown.
The Fed seems to have a good view of what is going on and are taking the right actions. (Don't let trump or any president nearer to the Fed than they are now!)
Keep up the great coverage and topics. I really enjoy and look forward to your next uploads - you're wonderful to listen to. I hope Beau is doing well and taking it easy. Just feeling appreciative and passing it along from Massachusetts.
High inters rates have kept people from buying housing. Rental companies have been able to use that against their renters, raised rates exponentially. Hopefully, renters will have options now that rates will slowly be dropping.
Side effect-people that want or need to move, but must get a certain amount out of their home when they sell have been unable to find a buyer. Rate reduction helps them too.
Unrelated, just wanted to thank Belle for recommending “Session 9”. Great flick! They maybe burnt excessive daylight for a one week deadline on a two week job with a ten k bonus on the line, but I get why for the story.
Technically aren’t we feeling the economic effects of Trumps presidency now? Usually when it comes to the actual prices on goods its a delayed effect. Two terms truly shows the positive or negative impact economy wise.
