Greets Folks!
This video is an early example of the videos I will have for the members section coming soon! I will be doing all of the upgrades and mods on the channel throughout the week. This is usually never filmed so it should help folks out quite a bit performing these tasks on their own launchers!
I carry all of the launchers you will see as well as the upgrade and maintenance kits. If you are in need, please shoot me an email at Jonreynoldscts@gmail.com.
Have a great night!

Good afternoon! Thank you very much for this tear down! These videos are packed full of value for free! Question for you, I recently removed the restrictor out of a 7.5 joule HDR68 and my first or second or 3rd shot is farting or maybe you would say double or tripple kicking sounds like it’s fully automatic for a moment. I have taken it apart several times and everything looks good any ideas on how to fix this? My only thought was changing the brass valve oring possibly
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 5 месяцев назад
Greetings! I do indeed :) On some of the older generations of the valves, a c02 restrictor in the c02 chamber was necessary to prevent that issue (and stabilize the power between shots). There are two solutions. The easy option is to upgrade that valve to the new reenforced version and that will eliminate the problem. If you need one, shoot me an email at jonreynoldscts@gmail.com The other option is to install a C02 restrictor from a power kit. I have them as well. The valve swap is the best option though as it eliminates future issues before they occur :)

I'd have loved to buy this little devil from you bro (with or without the "powerkit"), i really like the fact that you're sharing your valuable knowledge with the rest of us newbies! Unfortunately I live in Greece, so I'd have to deal with the customs for importing it from the US (thereby, increasing its price), which is a de-motivating factor...so, in the end I ordered it a couple of day ago from a store in France called "Wicked Store"; needless to say, I can't wait to try it! Again, thanks for the great video!

@@AlternateArmsSD Thanks for trying to accommodate the needs of us who don't live in the US. But it's not just the shipping costs (which is not that much more expensive than the 20 euros that I paid to have it sent from France to Greece). Sadly, from my experience, it takes much longer for the order to be delivered to its final destination. For instance, I purchased last year a watch from a US company's online store as a gift and the bloody thing took months to arrive and then on top of that, i had to pay some extra fee at the customs (basically, for no real reason), which, as you understand, has deterred me from ever buying anything from the US that I can get in the EU, because that usually makes things easier and less complicated for me. Anyway, thanks again for the very informative video, as well as for the prompt reply; much appreciated!

I do admit, I enjoyed the bit of drama. Seeing the front sight fall off , then wondering through the entire video if you were going to catch it as you were reassembling the gun. And the cherry on top, watching you completely reassemble the gun without hearing the little white sight screaming "lookie here dude," which meant you would have to disassemble the gun to get things back in order. I am a bit curious: you say "once you do this mod, you'll never go back". Assuming you've tested the modified version extensively, do you still feel the same way after all those months (since you posted the video)? Do you ever get the feeling that it's become weaker over time? The reason I'm asking you this is because the guy behind the Miami Airgun Channel did some extensive modifications to his HDR68 (16J), but after a while he started running into several malfunctions and he also felt that the revolver had become (quite unexpectedly, in fact) weaker over time, and so he made the decision to go back to the stock version, which, in his opinion, is powerful enough out of the box for all sorts of purposes, including self-defense, while being, at the same time, much more reliable. What's your experience so far? Thanks again!
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD Год назад
I do indeed feel this way. I love my fellow RU-vid ally Miami Airgun, and I too love his videos, but our methods differ a bit. His goal is to squeeze the maximum out of these that is possible through hpa tapping, bottle feeding, or extensive barrel modifications. Also, he likes to used multiple types of ammo which, while very effective, can wear out certain parts of the launcher quicker than rubber/steel or pepperballs. My goal is to bring the greatest amount of power out of these while not exceeding the original stress test factors on the launchers. I always tell folks that my methods return the launchers to where they SHOULD be firing from the factory prior to any regulatory restrictions that are put in place by different countries. I have modded, quite literally, hundreds of HDR68's and have never had a failure that wasn't a mechanical issue caused by misuse or overtightening of the C02 striker. That being said, there are runner washers, Orings, and detents that will need to be replaced over time. As with any weapon, maintenance is key. However, for self defense purposes it is generally used when its needed with occasional practice. Hope that helps :)

Does anybody knows why the 68 was a success but the HDR50 was a disaster??? Yes it was 7.5 joules snd F stamped .
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 7 месяцев назад
Greetings, you’re in the right place brother. The HDR 50 has got to have a c02 restrictor installed. It’s a small aluminum disk that goes in where the CO2 goes. They restrict the flow of the CO2 up into the valve block. This is why every time you pull the trigger it is just farting out all of the CO2 because the valve like it’s just releasing everything all at once. Fortunately, you have a couple of options. You can either just install the disc itself out of a power kit, or upgrade the valve in that HDR50 which I highly suggest. Shoot me an email at jonreynoldscts@gmail.com

@@AlternateArmsSD Hi Buddy, thanks for the reply. When you say reinforced valve do you mean the valve pin that comes with the powerkit? @AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 5 месяцев назад
@@garethmccaig8674 No problem man! No, the valve is the aluminum piece that houses the valve block you remove. Its attached to the C02 chamber using a "crimp" method. The new valves are threaded to make them MUCH stronger. (I have videos up on this). The HDR68 doesn't have the C02 gas out issues if you run it without the restrictor (Like the HDR50/TR50 does). However, if you run a restrictor, you will get more stable shots each time you pull the trigger. The pin your referring to is the firing pin that is mounted in the bolt. ROFL!! I know, it looks like a couple people cut that :-) easy to put back in, though, you only had to pull the front three screws.

For home self defense, which one would you choose? HDP50, HDR50, or HDR68? Thanks!
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 8 месяцев назад
They are all wonderful. I’d go with the 68 for home defense though for the sheer size of the round and the payload in the pepperballs.

@@AlternateArmsSD I took a chance on the one from Charles on the Mercy Less Lethal website. Says it’s modified up to 32 joules. I’ll try and let ya know how legit it is.

Hi Jon did you ever find out if this works without the power kit? Thanks 😊
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD Год назад
If you are on HPA you don't need the kit.. BUT, if you are on C02, you must have the C02 restrictor.

Yeah, and I thought about that as well. I would certainly never go all member nor would I let my regular content suffer. It would just help me expand the channel and keep moving forward.
