Well done and definitely needed by the Umarex community. How about a technical video on how the CO2 moves through an HDR68 (or similar) showing where the air is under pressure and held until the trigger is pulled opening up the valve sending the gas through the launcher? This might help us understand leaks and how to fix them. Good work!

@FLAlesslethal
@FLAlesslethal 8 месяцев назад
Hey Jon, I think I will be ordering mine from you very soon. Hey quick question though. Does the little screw thing you put silicone on and put in with that long duehickey keep the CO2 from releasing until trigger pull??? If not what does if everything is removed???? Got my head spinning right now but going to watch again now. Please let me know and thanks alot My Man!
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 8 месяцев назад
Hehe No problem man!! OK, the CO2 cartridge goes into the CO2 chamber. That’s the chamber in the handle itself. Once the cartridges and you screw down the puncture cap until it is tight. You do not want to over tighten it at all, or certainly don’t use the Allen key. Just screw it down until it stops. The CO2 is not punctured until you strike that pin which drives a small metal pin up into the CO2 cartridge and punctures it. This is a great since you don’t have to worry about your CO2 leaking over time if it’s pressurized. The only thing that needs to be removed is a small aluminum valve block which restricts the amount of CO2 that comes out with each shot. That’s the piece you see me knocking out with the screwdriver. However, I actually sell these fully modified. If you don’t want to try this yourself :-)

Very nice video, thanks for all the info and instructions! Got my HDR.68 today (7.5J version). I always thought there was a restrictor in the back of the tube for the CO2-capsule "ex factory" (as one of the measures to limit the power output to german legal 7.5J). The "power kits" available mostly do offer an alternative restrictor, and I had the impression that these had a bigger passage and were meant to be installed instead of the factory ones to get more power. However, when I looked into the capsule tube of my HDR, I was quite surprised to see that there is no restrictor at all and that it is actually completely open... I assume, the restrictor included in the power kits are there to prevent a blow-out of CO2, when the valve block has been removed. Can you confirm that?
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD Месяц назад
Greetings, that is correct. Now, the HDR 68 is not nearly as temperamental as the HDR 50. In most cases, you can get by without having to have the restrictor installed. However, I would definitely make sure that you’re using the new reinforced valve block. For a period of time they were just crimping those CO2 chambers onto the valve block, and they have a tendency to break at that point. The new valves are threaded, crimp, and sealed,

Well, and this is hit or miss, on the HDR68 it’s optimal to some extent. I’ve had a couple models that absolutely had to have an in place, or on the first trigger pole. It would simply fire out all the CO2. However, the majority of the time on the launcher, you don’t actually have to have a restrictor. It’s always better to be safe than sorry though. It’s guaranteed to work with it, and “most likely” guaranteed to work without it :-) I hope that makes sense.

Do the flywheel supose to be free to turn when is on? when I use it with rubber ball shoot 2 with no problem but i can see the weight turn the flywheel it back shooting on blank on the next click.
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 14 дней назад
NO, if it is free then you caught your spring on the front of the barrel between the two halves of the case when you closed it. The barrel should move freely and snap back when you pull it out with your finger. That reverse pressure is what puts pressure on the drum.

Thanks . Yes the spring was off . Alll fixed now 😊

If you were ever to do a in person class on modifying this canon, let me know I will be there, I'm legally blind and it hard to watch on video...
@AlternateArmsSD

I could certainly do that for folks in Fort Worth. If we get enough interest Id be happy to.

I'm blinded in my right eye, which sucks when you're right dominant both eye and hand. Former Marine Expert rifleman, but no longer trust myself to throw lead downrange if I'm not certain of rounds on target. So, got myself one of these and the pump shotgun. Mine are already customized by an awesome couple in northern Wisconsin, Less-Lethal Defense. I'm traveling the country in a camper, but with enough advance notice I could swing through for a class.

Does this add power? can you link the parts please
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD 6 месяцев назад
On the HDR68, all you need to do is follow the instructions here and remove the valve block. This makes them MUCH more powerful. I do sell the fully upgraded models as well (With the new valve assemblies). Shoot me an email at jonreynoldscts@gmail.com.

Love watching u .but the T4E is trash. Didnt have qn seal .leaks .its trash. Could get it back back together so I just crashed and his peace is in the box if you don't charge that much to put the piece of junk back together I'll send it to you but if you want you can have it I would never buy another one they're trash only paid $139 from eBay but I'll never buy another one I would like to get a good home defense weapon you're going to have to spend a couple Grand to get something powerful and then you have to worry about taking apart to replace the seals and that's a pain in the ass once that trigger spring popped out it would never set right I spent an hour trying to get it done as it's trash Lake watching you but I don't think you should recommend people buy that because there's a piece of junk I know I have one and I went all out

Brother, I have built and modded hundreds of these without any issues. If you bought it from EBay then it’s quite possible you got a launcher that was messed up before you got it. I’d be happy to fix it for you if you need help.

friend I have seen all your videos and I have a final question, which is the best model for the defense of my home, the hdr 50 11j or the hdr 68? And I have another question, have you tried comparing those models with the HDP50? Which model of the 3 causes more damage on impact?
@AlternateArmsSD
@AlternateArmsSD Год назад
They are both great. Whichever you choose, MOD IT. For pepperballs, and if you’re not carrying it, I’d go with the HDR68 for volume of pepper on impact. Carrying, the HDP50 is much easier to conceal. Either way, mod them for sure. Thanks for watching!
