@@AlternateArmsSD I’ve continuously been blown away by these. I’ve read a few reviews where people have said they’ve left a magazine punctured for a year and it was still a good seal. My .43 cal mp or ppq will dent solid steel, and puncture a lot different tins and cans and sheet metal. I was skeptical when most of the market is .68, but at close range 6-8 rounds of these will HURT. Especially if you are smart about shot placement, like shooting the legs or face if they have layers. A few new launchers are on Amazon now too. Crazy to see this market pick up.

Its cuz they dont market it properly as a less lethal weapon for self defense. No average adult is going to purchase something associated with or know as a paintball marker and unfortunately umarex is just a big toy company to them. This is coming from somebody who just recently bought 2 different umarex’s for training that had never heard of umarex or byrna was and never bought a bb gun or paintball gun before.

There is a LOT of that in more recent videos. My testing practices have included, weight of the projectiles, velocities, and trigger pull strength.

@@AlternateArmsSD I didn't see or hear any of that, except velocities, in your video about the M17, when you unboxed it? I'm looking for a less-than-lethal home defense gun for the worst -case scenario of 4 intruders, big men, breaking into my home at night. I like the idea of having 30 shots available, and being able to shoot heavier projectiles that will hurt so bad on the receiving end. I would shoot center mass and can put one in someone's face if the first few center mass don't stop him. (I'm a Vietnam combat vet, and one of my few medals was marksman. I qualified with 60 in the bullseye out of 60 chances.) I looked at the m17 cqmf gun someplace (a stroke disabled my memory functions), and it seemed to fit the bill, but I then read that these mods will break the gun down because of excessive pressure on all the o-rings. It would be valuable to me if you did a series on home defense weapons for guys like me - older, unable to purchase a firearm - but who want to feel safe in their homes. Maybe you could find five guns that are modified by someone, that are reliable, that can shoot 8 gram rubber/plastic balls with some energy behind them. One slogan I see online is 30 rounds at 40 joules, which seems like it would SOUND scary in a room full of impressionable men looking at an assault weapon. Then getting hit several times with those balls would convince them to get the f**k out of my house.

You’re on the right track. For a car, I’d go with a fully modified HDP50 for the car. It’s small enough for the glove compartment or console and isn’t punctured until you need it.

The rumor is, if you have one without the F marking, the power 50 upgrade will give you close to 20 to 30 Joules. The downside of that, and this one is already approaching that threshold, is it at first with too much velocity to fire pepper balls. You would be stuck to solid balls and whatever creative projectiles you use. I have not been able to locate one of the states that the test that I know. If it is I do, it will be on the channel :-) Thanks for watching!

Greetings! Yes indeed, the easiest way to remove that is to place a Phillips screwdriver on the other end of the valve assembly and tap it on a table. It will pop that aluminum insert out. It seems a little scary when you do it, but it does actually work. I am working on getting my store set up to sell the fully modified versions as well as do the modifications for people. Greets, you can go with the full valve removal and PK50 installation and still fire the pepperballs if you are using a good quality pepperball. Ammo quality counts for sure. However, the TR50 has a vast selection of ammo it will fire as well.

That would actually be a fantastic test but meat is so damn expensive :-) I’m working on getting a couple of ballistic gel blocks to test on.

You need to add the C02 restrictor after you remove the valve block. It’s very easy.

You can rebuild that mechanism but it’s actually cheaper and easier to just replace it :) There’s an Oring on the threaded portion that might be damaged as well assuming it’s tightened down correctly. They are wonderful! Umarex is actually out of Germany. They have different rules and regulations as to the velocities they can import into the US. Just remember, once you get over that 400 ft./s range, Pepperballs become problematic.

@@AlternateArmsSD Thank you very much for the information. I have the P2P T4E HDP50 which I'm using as pepperball only and am looking to get the T4E TR50 revolver for first strike rounds. I'm thinking for the price and simplicity the 11 Joule version would get the job done and act as enough of a deterrent. I'm not sure I can personally justify paying almost 3x more for the 20 Joule version. I respect how much effort it takes to do the upgrade.

@@servant72 I've got the 11 joule version and really like it. I'm going to fit the Hd24 inner barrel and suppressor kit. My neighbours batch about noise. It's a good way of getting a little more power with minimal work, not having to open up the 'gearbox'. Not cheap but build quality looks excellent. PH

As long as it’s the 11j version you are fine. I am working on a “universal” mod , so to speak. The power kit 50 must have the 11J version or the flow contractor doesn’t fit in the C02 chamber without modifications. On the hdp50 it doesn’t matter but on the TR50, it tends to expel all the CO2 on the first shot.

Greetings, because of the way the valve block was constructed on the 7.5 version, I had to change out the valve block to the 11J version before I could knock out the constrictor inside the block. When I would remove the constrictor on the 7.5 version, it would cause the weapon to release all CO2 in multiple bursts when you pull the trigger one time. However, I have a theory that I’m going to be testing next week. Stay tuned.

Look at the HDP50 (Modified), the TR50 (modified), or the HDR68 modified. They are all very affordable and pack a punch. Thanks for watching!

You certainly can. Anytime you get up over 20J is when you run into issues. You can still mod that one using this exact same method though. If you were to want more power :-)

Greets! Just pull the valve block. I have a much newer video that tears down and rebuilds the launcher in great detail. Also, you might want to change the valve to the new reenforced valve.

Pretty much. It all boils down to airflow. The more constricted the airflow, the slower the projectile. By changing out that valve block, and removing the plug, you can get maximum velocity. The only issue I’ve run into is that, if you do that, you cannot longer fire pepper balls as they tend to explode in the barrel. However, the solid balls fly with ridiculous velocity. Kydex or leather?

Prefer leather but will take anything, willing to spend decent money, I am a bounty hunter and prefer non lethal. I carry many things on me and live in an open carry state so any kind of holster to keep the pistol protected physically and from the elements if it’s raining. I have found holsters for all my other pistols except this one and of course it’s my favorite

Greetings, you’re going to end up getting the same power out of both of them after the modification so either is fine. I would say save the money and go with the 7.5 and upgraded. You cannot fire the burn around so because they are 68 caliber and the TR 50 is a 50 caliber. However, there are many many different manufacturers on 50 caliber pepperballs. I have some as well.

@@ShaneCrenshaw , one thing you’ll learn about me, there’s no such thing as a silly question. You’re welcome to ask me anything you would like :) Those will absolutely fire the max rounds.

You do not have to remove that trigger assembly. The only reason you would have to, is if you make a mistake when removing the top from the bottom of the case.. go SLOW and take your time. The pin that is connected to the trigger mechanism is a floating pin and connect to both the top and the bottom halves.

@@smokingunclefrank6037 yeah, I had tried using the 7.5 valve block and just removing the core but it caused an immediate CO2 release. The first round came out like a canon But then all subsequent CO2 just came out in one long burst.I do have a solution for that, but I haven’t tested it yet. I do love innovation :-)

Youre absolutely correct. If you’ve got the 7.5 joule version, you will need to replacethe entire valve block. When you get the replacement valve block, there will still be a plug that constrict a portion of the airflow in the valve block. That plug can also be removed but it’s not necessary. I’m working on getting an 11 joule version in here to do the 30 J conversion. However, this one fire so hard that I don’t really see the need. Once you get above that 20 joule mark, you can no longer fire pepper balls. Thanks for watching and welcome to the family!

@@AlternateArmsSD After watching your video i thought of how slow the speeds were coming up even after the upgrade and when i load the cartridge from the back the side with the metal pinwheel that rotates said cartridge when trigger is pulled, i get a lot of friction it's a really hard push and think that's where your slow speeds are coming from on that meter. Load them from the other side you get a looser fit and can feel it touch down on the stop if you will. This gun is rated 360 fps on the 7.5 joule and 480 on the 11.

That greatly depends on the ammo you use. The standard balls that come with it are just hard rubber. I routinely test with the rubber/steel balls (which I use in actual self defense) and they are considerably heavier (hence a bit slower). That being said, after the mod this thing hit like a freight train :)

@@AlternateArmsSD I totally understanding, I've been working on my mods for almost two years. That being said, the rubber steel balls from Umarex should still be hitting 280 - 290 stock and around 425 with with the mod that you have made. BTW the way, love your videos, very well put rogether.

The actual weapon modded costs $150 but I’d check regulations in Canada. I have a friend in Canada who mentioned that they had a strict FPS limitation. That sounds great brother! Yeah, the P2P line is absolutely phenomenal. The upgrade ability, the affordability, and the versatility is just off the charts. I’ve actually done a few experiments with different size, cartridges, HP adapters, and CO2 adapters using an 88 gram cart. I don’t do a lot of those on the channel though, as my focus is to primarily keep them as a usable item for day-to-day self-defense. I don’t think I’m going to carry a big HPA canister around :-)

That’s next on the bench :-) honestly, I’m a little concerned though, we have to be very very careful about how powerful we can make these before they start getting regulated.

Ok, that’s up for debate. You’ve seen me get 10 shots out of one BUT one guy said he only got 2. I have no clue if he was real, what kind of ammo he was using, or what C02 carts he was using, but I am going to circle back on that in a video I’m actually shooting today! Stay tuned!

Ok, i’ll break this down two ways. IF you were using the HDP50: If you have the 7.5 version, all you would really need to do is remove that valve block. If you want to install the tuning kit, you may have to upgrade the entire valve assembly to the 11 J version. There are advantages and disadvantages both ways. The advantage to simply removing the block is that you’re going to get 5 to 10 shots at full power. But that’s all you’ll get. If you install the tuning kit, you’ll get closer to 20 shots but they won’t be quite as powerful. As far as a pepperballs, I found out a couple of interesting things that I will be putting into the next video. The brand makes a huge difference. I was actually able to fire pepper balls at close to 600 ft./s using the modified version and they did not rupture in the barrel. Also, I have some 50 caliber steel bearings coming in to test as well. We’re going to put this through its paces and see what it’s actually capable of. At this point, with the modded version you’ve seen in these videos, I have put close to 100 rounds through this with no problems at all. If you are using the TR50: On the tier 50 I have noticed some thing very interesting. If you simply remove the valve block there is so much pressure internally that occasionally you will get, what I call, a locked fire. Essentially, that lets all of the pressure out of the system at one time. Also, I’ve seen it lock up the mechanism to where you literally have to release pressure in order to find the weapon. on the tier 50, you can get away with removing the valve block but you have to put in the constrictor on the valve assembly itself at the bottom. If you’re going to do that, you may as well install the entire kit :-) I know this was a little confusing since I put both weapons in here, but I always strive to give you correct information :-)

Perhaps, but the point of the pepper ball is to rupture. If you made them two solid, they would be just as effective as the solid balls. It’s a delicate balance.

Greets! With this upgrade they fired perfect. I went through 2 full drums with no issues. Now, if you pull that valve block, I don't think you'd be so lucky. This mod pushes the boundaries for sure. They are amazing! I’d look at aluminum rounds as opposed to steel. At a certain point, with a C02 launcher, there is a point of diminishing returns with rounds that are too heavy.

Greetings, I would absolutely pull that out. The truth is, if you remove that valve block, you don’t need the power kit. The horseshoe component is only in the 11J version. In the 7.5 version, it’s actually a full valve block with a little pinhole in the center. Hope that helps :-)

So the only thing I need to do to get 20J plus is take horse shoe out and forget about the kit. then if I want to go further get an extended barrel. However for now the horse shoe will get every I need (as I don't need to open the home defense packet at all 100%?) Just want to make sur ei do everything properly. I ordered the kit now, so could just return it. but want to be absolutely positive before hand from some one who clearly knows what they are doing 👌

@@AlternateArmsSD lastly, is the anything I need to be cautious about, a so hear a lot of people damaging the seals and having problems with the guns after modifying them?

@@techfreaks4134 i’ve probably put 300 rounds through that modded version you saw on that video. I haven’t had any issues that I’m aware of. Also, since they are only pressurized when you puncture the cylinder, the seals are not under constant pressure. I certainly would not leave them pressurized for extended periods of time, you do have a lot of pressure on that seal at that time. However, if you’re going to use it in the capacity it’s meant to be used, it won’t matter anyway. You’re going to fire fast.

@@jaredwilson7803 Oh I agree! Folks tend to forget that the lethal option is always the last option. Not the first. That's the typical argument I hear from the "tough guys" that always tend to jump to lethal as the first line of defense. Another of my favorite arguments is "I can take that and keep coming". Typically, you see folks taking a pepperball and bragging that they can keep moving forward. They tend to ignore the fact that there are 6 MORE rounds coming their way. In a true self defense scenario, you don't fire one and wait for results :) Human life is important. Jumping to killing should never be the first choice. Thanks for watching Brother!
