Is removing the valve restrictor better than installing a powerkit?

@@jubyerhashin8214 Doing both is the best method. Installing the kit after pulling the block adds 5-8J and an average of 5 shots per C02.

There are 10 round tunes that we have been using in the paintball industry for decades for speed loading. They cost about a buck each. You could cut the excess to turn them in to 5 round speed feed tubes.

Absolutely agree with you. Thats what I wanted was more power so it would actually stop someone. I haven't got to test the pepper balls with its full power. Thanks for showing they won't burst in the barrel. Just have to find some good solid rounds to alternate pepper/solid.

Greetings! Absolutely. The 7.5 is perfect for the pepperballs. Once you get into modifying these things, they can actually become too powerful for pepperballs. Of all of my nonlethal’s, these are definitely one of my favorites for upgrades.

It actually exists in both versions (They look a bit different) .. The 11J version has more space and a smaller block but it does constrict air. You can pull them from the 11J version as well for this power mod.

I prefer the aluminum or steel/rubber rounds myself.

@@AlternateArmsSD thanks for replying! Any way you could elaborate, I've studied my model and the only seal seems to be the green seal at the bottom of the push pin where it screws in. There's no seal formed around the tip of the cartridge from what I can see.

@@Panda_96 That is correct. The C03 cart is not held against a seal (As they are in the T4E launchers.) The C02 has a lubricant in is for the internal mechanism (The Oring where the firing pin seats) and there is grease in the internal parts. They dont require much maintenance.

@@Panda_96 The only other "seal" you need to watch is the seal between the C02 chamber and the valve body. As long as you don't over tighten the C02 cap or leave it charged for extended periods, there shouldn't be an issue. For a period of time the valves were simply crimped together. This would case a failure point at that connection. If you ever have that issues, I carry the new threaded versions of the valve blocks available.

Brother, I actually do :-) I’m one of those people that burns the candles on all ends. I have the flea market, we do trade shows, and gun shows, I have the RU-vid channel, and I hold down a 40 hour a week regular job. I’m hoping at some point the RU-vid will take over and I’ll be able to do this full-time.

They certainly do after the upgrade. They are MUCH more powerful and much louder :)

The difference is negligible and you'll find that a semi in .22 LR recoils more. As long as you mind your grip, you should be fine shooting either.

@@AmbuBadger Agreed. It’s far more powerful after the mod but doesn’t have a recoil to speak of.. It is considerably louder though :)

Not just the weight, it's also releasing MUCH more Co2 per shot. A stronger drive spring behind the striker may also give more power not that it needs it.

Actually, this one actually does take six rounds. However, in the fully modified version, I suggest five in the gun and five in the speed loader. That being said, the HDR is a magnificent weapon as well.

Well, the rubber, steel combo, aluminum, or even steel balls, are the hardest hitting kinetically but don’t forget to use a good quality pepperball.

You cant really go wrong with either. The Walther really looks the part. It fires VERY smooth and VERY accurately. Run with pepperballs, its very formidable. The HDP50 is just a beast after the mod. The only real downside is the loading. It takes some time and only loads 6 at a time. (Whereas the Walther holds 8 and is an easy mag swap).. For power, the HDP has the title. The real key is practice. Any of them will be effective if you are familiar with, and know how to use, your weapon. Practice, practice, practice. :) Personally, I carry the Walther alternated with the Byrna from time to time.

I also forgot to ask what your thoughts are on the pepperball "flashlight"? I know less capacity and less of a firearm manual of arms, but seems somewhat discreet. Might be tough to carry.

@@jackreacher4326 I have actually done a review on one of them. I am working on getting a pepperball lifelite to test but if you look back you can see one. They are pretty cool. You are limited to a few shots but have the added functionality of a flashlight.

@@jackreacher4326 The accuracy is amazing! All of the T4E line will fit in the same "pancake" style leather holster. I also LOVE the grips on the Walther. they are the best I've found of any of the pepperball guns to date.

That’s a very interesting question and it’s the reason I ended up doing this modification instead of using that power pro. The regular pro power 50 kit is designed for the 11 J version. At first, I thought something was a little strange to when I tried to use the kit on this and it simply would not fit. they do actually make a specific kit for this version but I was unable to find it. I did some testing with different types of “pressure valves“ that I created. You can use a standard aluminum plug with a small hole drilled in it or you can even use the top of an old spent CO2 cartridge. Thanks for watching and welcome to the family!

Greetings, on the HDP 50, you do not need to lubricate the CO2 as there is no pressure directly on the tip of the CO2 after puncturing. Once you remove the block and upgrade these your shots become extremely powerful, but slightly less consistent. That might explain the audible drop off you heard. They have a new valve available for these, and they’re very inexpensive, that is a full power drop in that comes with a CO2 restrictor in the chamber. It’s a sacrifice of one to two joules but It gives you far more consistent shots.

Well, I can’t speak to the molecular make up of pell gun oil, but I can tell you that stuff is extremely invasive. If you put the slightest drop on a table, it will spread to silly proportions. There are many different brands of oil for PCP and c02 air guns though. Umarex has their own brand in fact and I’ve been using it quite effectively as well.

I’m working on that. There isn’t a lot of modifications that can be done but I’m looking in to some options.

Correct, this is nothing but the CO2 restrictor being removed. I have not had any issues with any seals with this weapon yet and I have probably put 300 rounds through it. However, changing seals is extremely easy in this weapon. It should also be part of your regular maintenance routine.

Graphite has a tendency to bind to the grease in the gun.

Greetings! No, that is 100% incorrect ;) I have one that I've put hundreds of rounds through and its still strong. If you are using the rubber/steel or aluminum rounds you will be fine. When you use steel bearings, you can wear out the detent but its an easy and cheap part to change.

Hey Brother. The FPS depends on the weight of the round you fire.

Well, that depends. For pure stopping power If suggest either a modded HDP50, a pepperball tcp, or a Byrna. You can’t go wrong with any of them for stopping power. If you want speed, functionality, and looks, go with the Umarex Glock 17 gen 5 or Walter PPQ.

Greetings! That’s pretty interesting. I’ve modified about 40 of these, I’ve got about 100 of them, and none of them hold more than six. In fact, just to be sure before I responded, I checked Umarex‘s website and all of them state that it holds six rounds. Is it possible that you’ve got a 43 caliber version instead of a 50? That size difference could be the difference between six and eight. Answer your question, before the modification you’ll get between 20 and 30 shots out of the gun. after the modification you’ll get between seven and 10. Depending on the ammo you use. What I meant to ask was - how are you only able to load 5 balls (if you check my original comment again, you'll see me say "I have two and they hold 6). But in the video I saw you put in 5 multiple times and it was full... So you basically cleared (most of) my confusion. As for the shots. I have the 11 Joule version and it almost invariably gets 18 shots out of a capsule. I was curious how much more the 7 Joule version could do. Thanks again for your reply. I will try your modification on one of my two HDP50s. Hope it works the same for the 11J version.

This is ONE tool in the ltl toolbox my friend. You never put all of your self defense eggs in one basket (so to speak). That being said, taking a fully modified HDP50 shot to the chest is like getting hit with a sledgehammer and a headshot, groin shot, or neck shot will end the issue.

The spring? If you are asking how long you should leave it pressurized, you should fire the rounds and expend the C02 when you picture it. The idea is that is gives you full power from a fresh cart when needed.

Yes they are still less than lethal. Unless you go nuts like some folks do and HPA tap them you are good.

I have a GOD to answer to when I die , and I really don't want someones death on my conscience . that's why I had to ask the question . and I cant afford the best less lethal gun , and have on idea witch one to choose , but am leading towards this one .any idea of a less lethal gun under 100 bucks ? amazon wont sell me one because I live in NJ , but eBay might . @@Truth... there is one rubber grommet on the inside of the weapon. Have you done any sort of modifications internally?

@@AlternateArmsSD nope, not a thing sir. I noted that the aluminium screw plug on the other side of the cannisters was lose, so I screwed it tight but still the same leak. Is it possible that the grommet is already damaged or worn out, even though I haven't used the weapon very much? Is it simple to find and replace?

@@Truth... OK, charge it again and note if the leak is coming from the back of the gun or the front of the gun. You should be able to put some sort of substance over the charging pin that pops out of the back to see if that’s where you’re getting the most pressure leakage. Generally, that’s the seal that will leak if it hasn’t been used for quite a while.

There are actually two different kinds brother. There is a rubber that is coating a steel ball and then there is the steel infused rubber. I actually prefer the latter. They are not sticky at all.

Would love to modify the power output to 8 shots per capsulet

I’m trying to work out a mod on the T4E line in general. Since the valve block is in the magazine, we have to work on the hammer stroke and duration. Stay tuned!

@@AlternateArmsSD that will increase the length of time that CO2 is released but I would think we want more volume without increasing the time that the gas is released. More time could be useless if the round is already on its way to the target

I would also like to mod somehow to release the mag spring when it is inserted.

Hehe No worries. The hdp50 will always hit harder than the Walther PPQ. That is, until I come up with a mod that increases the PPQ over 18 J and we are working on it :) Now. The TCP or TCR can actually have the velocity adjusted as the weapon, but you’re also paying four times as much. The PPQ, with a modder magazine, it’s going to hit in that 9 to 11 to range, which is fine if you were using a high-quality pepperball. (Which you should be on any launcher you choose)

@@AlternateArmsSD I do the same with solid and rubber rounds in my hdr. But yeah the only steel core balls on Amazon are ridiculously overpriced. Careful using pepper balls in the modded one by the way, if you go too high in power they start busting before they can get out of the barrel.

@@pauljameswatt Well, if I were going to keep it on my nightstand at the house, I’d go with the 68. If it’s something I was going to carry in my glove compartment around my person, I would probably go with the HDP50 modded. Now, the Walther PPQ does have a quick Pierce magazine that you can buy as well. That way, the CO2 is not actually punctured until you need to use the weapon and it works quite well. If you look back on my video for the TPM1, I actually demonstrate one.

@@pauljameswatt ROFL! A crossbow?!? That makes a ton of sense doesn't it! :) Yeah, I'm a huge believer in non lethal self defense. There are very few situations that call for a "lethal response" and we dont live in the "gunfight at the OK corral".. That being said, we are always our own first line of self defense and too many countries tend to forget that. Perhaps they will come around someday but in the meantime, Ill keep trying to improve on what we can get ;)

Yes it is, at 4X the price. This is a fantastic budget option. After this mod, it fires harder than the FSC as well.
