Random SFEX2+ fact: Because this is a true 3D game on a 3D playing field, there are certain oki situations where certain buttons on jump-ins can have a chance to be unblockable cross-ups when the opponent is getting up, even if you're doing what seems to be a normal jump-in in front of the opponent on wake up. This is due to the fact that the opponent on knockdown has a slight tendency or chance to stand up facing backwards and away from the opponent, and because you cannot block incoming attacks from behind. Hard knockdown setups after Excel combos leading into ambiguous unblockable cross-ups is a very big emphasis on match-ups in this game.
2:30 urien was probably trying to get cr HP xx sphere xx HP aegis, cr HK -> some followup. It can lead into the best 1 bar unblockable vs twins but you can also just turn it into a juggle that builds most of your meter back. The sphere choice can be tricky, since you want it to hit just right after the super flash but not so late that it doesn't combo, so depending on distance/matchup you sometimes do LP/MP sphere and on rare cases HP sphere iirc. I don't think HP sphere is a thing vs twins tho.
I always interpreted Yang and Yun's level to be a sort of make-shift performance stage, built on top of construction material in a construction lot within a big city. The main reason i think this is because you can see the heads of the people in the crowd on Yun's version of the stage (and also barely in Yang's). they're clearly at head-height, so i dont think the fighters are on a roof of anything per-say, but they're also clearly not at ground level. it also could be like a farmers market or something (similar to the 2i stage), and the metal/wood is literally like reinforced tents or something, but iunno cuz these dudes are slamming each other on the ground idk if a couple tents could handle a KKZ or something so idk how realistic that would be.
40:07 not a dudley player so I may be misremembering, but I believe what's happening here is dud taking advantage of the Normal/chain (NC) cancel window at the end of the cr LK recovery (there are 3 NC frames almost at the very end of the animation). An NC frame allows you to cancel into any normal (I believe even on whiff?). So you do like whatever normal and kara cancel it into SA. I believe Yomoda uses this to confirm from ranges where two cr LKs wouldn't reach. I'm checking the frame data on baston and according to that, it would be a 16f reaction to confirm like this. EDIT: cr LK is +0, it does not link like someone commented.
Hey here's an interesting question: on old Selected Scene vids, I'd see Yuns pop raw GJ against Chun, and sometimes get punished by SA2. Is there a list of what can punish raw GJ activations out there? Also, will you do a Bad Balance on Chun? Nobody has ever covered why she's so bullshit in 3S in depth and she has no losing MUs.
32:12 it's easy to get EX sphere on accident when trying EX aegis cancels like that. Also the recovery on EX sphere is really bad. I think that move *may* have very niche uses for like an anti air or chip out scenario where you don't have charge, but in general it's definitely useless
12:20 he can't cancel every normal. For instance far HP and towards HP can't be canceled into anything at all. In the case of far HP, it has so little recovery that it can look like you cancel it
9:51 urien can do neutral throw -> LP aegis -> dash and if twins quickrise you get a dash through glitch into an unblockable. They messed up the timing here tho
