I know exactly what you mean,but I sent Eric the track without my original bass part(that was a lil closer to the original). He knew the song well enough to pull this off and add his undeniable flavor! The other undeniable thing is his feel! 🤘🏾

Yes! Why not learn all the instruments? I love it!

if you can play one, you can play the other, that is physically, mentally you have to put the work in. but they are ultimately stringed instruments, i picked up guitar after learning bass myself as well

First time I did a gig with Eric,he was on bass...at age 12!!! He’s playing bass on all of his albums too! Not every song,but definitely more than 1 or 2 tracks! And that’s MonoNeon on guitar,in case you didn’t catch it in the description. 😂

Eric is very much a bass player...if you’re familiar with his earlier work,he’s playing most of the bass on his solo albums. I actually met Eric as a 12 yr old bassist,and I was on organ at a church. He was solid back then! He knows the main role of bass!

@@jackieclark8253 I sure did. Absolutely love and bow down to these amazing musicians. My point was the technique as opposed to someone playing a right handed bass...RIGHT HANDED. Seen Eric several times and he's a monster...! 👊🏾

@@jackieclark8253 As you very well know, there was a great leftie that played a Gibson Flying V left handed..Eric's late great brother, Jimmy. I used to watch him on Beale Street 20 years ago at the Kings Palace Cafe and at BB's. The other great leftie before him was the cool pipe smoking Stax Records Albert King. The destinct thing about those "lefties" to my ear is they get a whole other sound because they pull the strings down when bending where as us righties push the strings up. Otis Rush had it also. SRV learned how to bend the from Big Albert and Eric is out of this world when he's bending those huge 2 step bends...! Very cool to see him just crushing it on bass representing the Purple Prodigy...! I live in Nashville so it's all about the music, but Memphis has that whole gritty, nasty vibe that I just can't get enough of. Keep these cool videos coming. 🤘🏾

Oldskool Funk ...Yep! I tell players that all the time! We’ll never be able to recreate that sound because we can’t pull our top notes down like that! We just have to sit and watch,and be in awe! Hahaha! I used to play with Lil Jimmy at BB King’s when I was the bassist in the house band! Miss that dude terribly man!!! I have some recordings of our shows that I might try and convert to digital one day! I also used to play with Preston Shannon from ‘99 til 2011! Miss those guys! Stay safe brother!!!! ✌🏾✌🏾
