Ιt's a leaf type tweeter and high cut midrange. Magnets on one side only. Just like Philips and Stage Accompany made them in the 80's

Those look like something i saw in a studio moniter about 20 years ago . The magnet motor looks hefty.

Short but still nice video to watch. At least if you are into unusual loudspeakers. So, thanks for this one anyway.

Seems like one can disassemble the units easily without destroying anything, I like that better than the B&G units

yes , its a nice thing to keep in mind when making such a thing it does depends on the budget though

Also some Fountek Neo CD/X series tweeters seem to be built with the same concept. I've heard some loudspeakers mounting one of those (must have been one of the least expensive I believe... very cheap actually) and they sounded not bad. Quite detailed but not at all harsh or edgy.

Just as he pulled that wire I said to myself "Those are pretty F'd", then Joppe said it too. Ha. That is a great idea mounting two drivers as close together as possible. Short of a coaxial that is as good as you can get. Maybe a DIY version could reduce the gap further. That would help the vertical off axis response.

well my DAP panels do kind of the same, but in a different way, at least the tweeter is really close to the mids, but i can reach lower on my tweeter then they can with both of these. might be they opted for that of been save. who knows :) or even better dispersion

More interesting than most! Thanks Joppe. This is not necessarily an old design. It is a reasonably expensive design. Check if the Kapton is actually Kapton. Colour? If it is browish or black it is Kapton. Yellow, it is not Kapton. Mark

Looks brownish

@@joppepeelen Then it is Kapton. Interesting how they tried to go single ended motor and increase the Length of wire in the motor. If you had a second side neodymium magnet as a buck magnet you could use wider conductors and increase the power handling of the motor. There is never a free lunch, but there are choices on the lunch menu. Mark

i once had a pair of piegas where the magnets lost their nickel coating, was like sand behind the diapraghm but at least they easily disassemble. keys and other metal things are a real hazard for these, they attract anything that comes nearby, i would have at least put grill infront of it.
@joppepeelen
@joppepeelen 4 месяца назад
that would be the neodymium versions, some neo's had trouble holding there plating indeed :( got a box of huge neos with that exact problem :(
