One thing I find surprising about Ed - he was married to the same woman all his life.

Martin Short was surely channeling this woman in doing his Jiminy Glick routine. . . . Embarrassingly fawning all over Rory Calhoun, praising "Capitol" co-star Richard Egan's Jesuit priest brother, whom she didn't know is dead -- resulting in awkward "dead air," repeatedly touching Ed Nelson's leg. My God. Her interviews are a time capsule to the '70s and '80s; fun to watch, "a kick." But sometimes she truly becomes a female Jiminy Glick. I'm surprised her producer and/or director didn't "rein her in" a bit. Wouldn't it be great to be a fly on the wall at the "Capitol" set the next day and hear Constance Towers, Richard Egan, Deborah Mullowney (Farentino), Ed Nelson et al reminisce on their "interviews" with this character? Elsewhere via RU-vid I watched her John Hillerman interviews during "Magnum, p.i."'s heyday whereupon she asked him the same line of questions, year(s) apart!

Capitol was similar to Murder She Wrote in the sense that a lot of its main regulars were yesteryear movie contract players.

Seems like so many of these great actors of their generation died from emphysema aka COPD. Everyone smoked. Sad!
