I do a complete woofer build, it's really not that hard to do, feel free to hit me with questions. Thanks for watching!! cmdaudio#!/p... www.subwooferparts.com
I am new to reconing speakers and I have watched 100 videos and nobody has broken it down like you and actually explained it the way you do and make it easy for anybody that can read a measurement
Thanks brother you just started my side work I have subs that are waiting for this . Now I will offer customers custome subs and feel comfortable that the shop can produce multiple options and be well built awsome
I dont know your name but thanks a lot CMD Audio. With all the information you provide and what mesurements are needed I was able to mess up a sub and then compete 2 others after. One is still running strong and I blew up the second one I built. So I'm back here again for a refresh course since I need to build this one a third time 😂 this time I'll try to actually follow your directions and build it like a drop in. I was doing it spider and coil into the basket first and if was aligned great then when I put the cone on it pulled to one side a little bit. Just wanted to thank you for this amazing peice of teaching gold this video was.
Great vid brother detailed and down to business that's hard to find. So many vids might contain the info your looking for but u also have to listen to the person yap about unrelated stuff it bugs the HELL out of me I wish everyone who makes a turorial/how to vid would watch this vid to see what a proper tutorial should look like.
Man that takes a lot of patience, great video, I'm not sure if you have any videos showing how much wattage the sub can handle but if not you should do one.
It's been like 5 years but hopefully still have this channel where do you get the clamp rings and you know where to get neo magnets or have you ever made one would neo magnets a whole sub.... Thank you in advance
Thanks for this video. I have done a ton of recones DC , Sundown but never have built one from individual parts well all that will be changing. My biggest question I have for you is will it be easier to build a recone first or build it in place after I get the ring ca'd below the spider and triple joint done.
I planning to recone my 12s with the some 12 spoke basket. I'm going for a 2 to 2 1/2 inch Xmax excursion sub. Had a guy with some nsv3 coils that I will be using. The thing is i will be running one inch spacers do to the long coil. Would this math still work in my case? Also any tips on making extend pole piece?
I have a few gems laying around a Rockford power hx2 15” with a bad coil a 12” earthquake San Francisco 1990 competition sub fully functional . A Rockford power hx2 12 with a broken tinsel lead . Another Rockford power hx2 with a cracked basket Also have 2 12” Cerwin Vega 12d4 originals and a Vega 10d4 . I’m looking to do something either repair them all or improve them if possible like the HX2 I know there’s better options for tinsel leads . I’ve never repaired any speakers though so I’m not sure where to begin .
Hey dude i know this is a while ago but your my only help! , so if a 10" basket has a voice coil exit of 3.5" , can you have a 3" coil and a 10" cone with a 3" VCID?
I know this is old but its a lot of information I have been looking for but 1 thing does concern me on this when you put weight on the cone it pulled the surround down on the former but when you took the weight off the surround actually sprung back up a little so wouldn't that pull your coil up as well ruining your measurement from before with .750 above and below to more like .800+ above and .200 + or - below
hi please >>> can you tell me what is the exact position for the voice coil inside the magnet like if the magnet thick is 4 cm and the coil winded wire is 2 cm thx
the only part of subwoofer builds everybody misses is soldering the tensile leads to the voice coil and how it attaches to the cone. afterwards you semi showed how you notched the cone but nobody else shows that
Springfield Speaker LLC/Simply Speakers both show the full sub build start to finish plus soldering. Simply Speakers also test the finish products in the Vids.
Hi... is it possible for me to use the magnet and basket of a midrange speaker to build a 5 inch subwoofer..? If so please may you assist me.. I have very little experience,, but lockdown has made me ambitious..
I was wondering how you determine the rms ratings for subs you build. I have a basket I want to build on but I don't know what stuff to get to do a nice sub. (1000 rms) HELP PLEASE? LOL
Put the coil in the magnet gap and tap a 9v battery on the leads and if the coil pops outwards then the positive terminal of the battery is touching the positive wire on the coil.
I went to the url for sub parts in the description and it took me to a spyware page direct Apple iPhone support scammers in India . Idk if there is a good working link to get subwoofer parts from if there is please lmk .
I know this is an old post but your math is off. X-Maxx is calculated by how far the speaker will move with the windings still in the gap with a 2-in winding height and 1/2-in top plate you will have 3/4 of an inch of X-Max one way or 19.05mm
They use a ca glue for the vc to the cone and usually a black rubber type glue for the cone to frame and dust cap to cone. Look on the lord of bass website they sell it. But it must be a ca glue for the voice coil right after its glued you spritz it with an activator spray I believe
