Adler always treats you like dirt, never the same, but Perseus treats you like an equal brother and he compliments you like a son. no wonder the bad ending is more appreciated than the good ending.
@@luizviniciusvieiraalexandr4979 so does Perseus until you nuke europe, Volkov saying you are "damaged goods" and Araj attempted to murder you (even tho at that point you weren't even brainwashed) this idea of: they might be terrorists, but they treat you like a brother, feels like cult talk
Commies gonna commie. USSR was shit, that's why it doesn't even exist anymore. Now Stalin 2.0 is trying again and getting stomped out. The Perseus organization literally betrays you in the beginning of the game. 🤦🤦 Or did you not pay attention?
Now one might say this is evil... But imagine you're Bell. For your entire life, you valiantly served in the Soviet Union as a high ranking soldier, even being in close contact with Perseus. Then, you get betrayed by an "ally" who wants to get you out of the picture for personal reasons, and to top it off, you're being captured and brainwashed by the literal enemy, tricking you into thinking you're on their side. But apart from the fact that your memory seems askew, no-one really trusts you. Adler is the only one who does, who seems like a guiding figure, but the more frustrated he gets in his pursuit of Perseus, his real disposition towards you starts to show. You're an asset. You're not a friend, or an ally. You've been thrown in there to do your job, and that's it. And then you regain your consciousness: in a moment's notice, you recollect everything mentioned above, and you lie there, in front of Adler, looking him straight in the eye. The one who keeps you from returning to your former life, who even got you into this mess, and who would most likely kill you once your job's done. And you now have the choice. Do you stay in your place? Do you do what you are told to do? Do you continue your alliance with the one's who "saved" you? Or do you return to your true self?
This is what I thought of when I played the game as well, genuinely tough decision... I personally decided to stick with the West, I thought if the world got nuked and innocents died, it'd be terrible. I thought maybe just maybe they will trust me after what I've did for them, and maybe they did. I became a defector to the West.. But after it was all said and done, Adler had to kill Bell... I understand why, tying loose ends and all but it just hurts, I just really hope Adler meant it when he said "Nothing personal." Really good campaign, shit multiplayer + zombies though lol. Again, this is a REALLY tough decision to make playing this game, great comment btw..
He wasnt serving as a high ranking Soviet Solider his entire life up the point of his betrayal.....maybe 8-10+ years service to be within the inner circle of Perseus' influence, but his entire life he was a son/daughter of Russia, a citizen of Russia's Central Committee, only joining the service once he was grown
@@AshwickGrove cant speak on multiplayer but coming from an og cod zombies player i would like to say cod cw zombies are damn good. but to each their own...
"wait i forgot that it was s'posed to be solovetsky" then the final mission's actually puts you in the shoes of a bomber pilot, who survives the AA because plot armor and stops the nukes
Ngl, I don’t see this as an evil ending at all. I see this as a “revenge” ending. They brainwashed the man, made him fight and kill his own people, use him as a pawn, puts him through a torture session of trying to break his mind for information, and then after ALL THAT, they are SURPRISED he “betrayed” them? Edit: yes, this is most definitely an “Evil End” however, the fact you get revenge on the people that used you as a tool, that never really even cared what happened to you, that will kill you when you are of no more use, that (figuratively((?))) cut your brain open and shoved their toys into your head to get you to March to their tune, that you get revenge on those people, and that you use their own weapons to do it? Well, that’s a level of irony and cruel justice that can’t really be properly expressed tbh
Something can't be both evil and revenge? Is getting revenge at the cost of millions of lives not "evil"? Imo the whole point of decisions like these are to see whether the player would act with dignity and say "My character is strong enough to endure what they have and still have the strength left to sacrifice themselves for others" or "Fuck everyone else and their suffering because MY suffering is greater". Point is games love to push stupid "all or nothing" decisions, and in reality I'm sure that after all of the brainwashing and shit that Adler and the others wouldn't have just blindly trusted Bell without any backup plan whatsoever (let alone Bell radioing an ambush while standing 10 feet away from 6 other people, all of whom conveniently forgot that Bell is hardly in his right mind).
@@Blahblahblaafmn nah, this is the good ending The other one gets you killed, this one sets you on the path that you believe in aka Bell. To Bell this is the good ending.
@@Blahblahblaafmn I mean, you're right, however the nukes were American, meaning they already planned on killing thousands if they swerved towards the soviets. In the end there are no good or bad people in a war, just different shades of shitty
Whats also funny is how they kept talking about throwing Bell away, even the "good" ending they end up doing that after everything Bell had sacrificed.
I felt this ending was far better than the other one. The other ending was far too predictable and cliché. This was a huge flip to see that you could actually side with Perseus and get pissed off about the brainwashing.
I completely agree. But I wish for the mission to be longer. This mission only had the outside area and a little cutscene in the inside. All that could be done in like 2 minutes tops.
After finding out what Adler does to Bell in the first play through, I *personally* made sure that all the campaign actions/puzzles was in Perseus’ favor
yeh, honestly, wouldn't mind a story supporting perseus being followed after this ending, it is a genuinely good ending in the sense of damn i actually felt good that i did that
The only kill I regret in this situation is Lazar. He at the very least felt sympathy towards Bell, noted by dialog. Lazar was a good man serving a terrible man. Adler, my only regret for him was not using a larger caliber.
Adler is a terrible man because YOU caught the short end of the stick, but gunning down several innocent operatives and nuking Europe because the mustache man wasn't as obvious about using you is a better alternative? People say Perseus treated you like a son, but they're ignoring the fact that the KGB uses you in just about the same way. Players don't care about what's really right, they just know how they feel.
If the guys at COD are racking their brains around what kind of campaign COD could have, they could do an alternate timeline which tells the story of the consequences of this particular choice. Technically they did mention the aftermath of this, but it'd be better to see it play out by ourselves. I honestly think it would make for a great story, especially for something that hasn't been delved into enough, which can help regain ppl's interest into the franchise.
@@notagenjimain3699 maybe some sort of terrorist/rebel organization who are technically good but still harm many innocents, letting you choose if you want to be loyal to the soviets or the rebels
@@notagenjimain3699 Maybe something like C&C Red Alert but less goofy? WW3 with the soviets could be a fun game. They could structure it like the old WW2 ones where they jump between perspectives. Alternate history is a better direction to take the series in than shooting robots in outer space.
"help regain ppl's interest into the franchise." The only people still interested in CoD are fanboys. You arent going to get people who were raised with Big Red 1 and Modern Warfare 2004 to play these modern CoD games after Advanced/Infinite Warfare.
End of Credits. Epilogue: You wake up to find your son running to you with excitement in his eyes. "Momma says we're going to get ice-cream by the metro Papa. Do you want to come with." You kneel down and look in his eyes, a single dialog option comes up. "Of course Artyom." *Metro 2033 Guitar plays in the background*
I mean, your (new) friends didn't shoot you after the mission is done, so I say that this is the best ending and also opens a much rich storyline then "murica stopped nuke going off because murica"
dawg this ending is you deciding whether to kill millions of people or save the world. you choose a blank slate man who doesnt speak over the lives of millions in this ending i think ur insane
The game may be terrible in its regard, but this part was very well done. Depending on which answer you give, Adler will react differently. As you can see, whem Bell says the base is in Duga, Adler hesitates for a moment and realizes something feels off. He never considered Duga an option and he seems to try to connect the dots on how could he could have missed it. When Bell says it's in Solovetsky, it's more like it was somewhere he thought it could be the real place and reacts like: "of course! It's Solovetsky!", like this place made sense to him because his intel probably considered it a potential hotspot. Some nice details.
Its kinda ironic that if you go for the 'good ending', you actually get betrayed even after proving your loyalty. Whereas in the 'evil ending', you get vengeance for what they did to you. Your comrades then welcome you back as a brother, despite everything you did.
The morality of setting off a shit ton of nukes and killing millions is just a matter of perspective? Man the games campaign is cliche, with the whole murica save the day russia bad storyline. But my god the amount of Soviet cocksuckers here are mindboggling.
It's a bit hard to make decisions for Black ops Fans and some player's like those two characters to be alive "Wood's"&"Mason" . If this Ending connect continue then there won't be no BO 2,3,4....
@@gt6562 both of them will die anyway. I'd like to see new call of duty where you can make a choice for side. The Call of duty wich will be about evil SOVIET russians, fighting with american imperialists in post-nuclear world.

@@JarthenGreenmeadow Dude I love the time and effort they put into these games! It’s totally not a money grab at all, they clearly really care about the experience…

3:10 you know what I love about this ending? In their effort to come to save you from Adler they fire a rocket 2 feet from you that they didn’t need to fire almost killing you and missing literally everyone else they’ve been sent to kill
im not real sure how i felt about this campaign. it felt like a big fever dream lol. The cutscenes are what makes it amazing to me the most though and i loved being Bell though. I still dont know how i like the ending though. either get killed or kill your friends.
yes because I didn't played it but I feel like there is no good ending either you die either you become a monster killing thousands of people with nukes
Well to begin with they're not your friends. Yeah you care for them but at the end of the day they always meant to kill you. You aren't "one of them". You're an asset and a tool.
Yeah so you're just gonna take millions of life just to save yourself? They sure betrayed you but atleast you could save people by sacrificing yourself instead of taking millions of life being selfish

i havent played much COD campaigns other than 2019 and cold war, i definitely like this one. 2019 was also really good but at least here they put on a good cold war vibe
Typically an alternate “Bad Ending” option makes you feel sympathetic to the characters you betrayed. I felt no sympathy for killing the main cast. I did feel sympathy for those who died in the crossfire though.
The best thing about a blind playthrough of this game is the revelation. Your first playthrough you’ll do everything to bring down Perseus, decipher all the codes, kill all the members. Then you learn that you have actually been destroying your own organization as a member of Perseus. Then you do a second playthrough, cautiously choosing every option to be in the favor of Perseus, it just makes the Soviet ending more satisfying in my opinion. I feel like the US ending was deliberately made more cliche to bring up the Soviet ending, obviously Adler killing you still has weight to it, but the US mission is so bland in comparison to the Soviet ending, it’s a generic CoD final mission, with two or three objectives, destroy the thing, Bell do this, Bell do that, good work Bell we destroyed the evil Russians, another win for the USA as Adler puts his sunglasses on with explosions in the background. The Soviet ending is short and sweet, it’s more cinematic than gameplay focused, it’s a cathartic experience, even more so when you already knew the truth, taking out the remaining team members that manipulated you as their plot armor is finally stripped away, watching Adler bleed out and being congratulated by Perseus at the end for your efforts, planning the next stages of the plan for worldwide Soviet domination, it just feels good, I’d kill for an extension to the Soviet ending.
I'm happily surprised Perseus didn't kill Bell like an evil cartoon villain, Well done, Activision, well done. Very mature. This is definitely the good ending in my headcanon
I mean how could you trust a side who already shot you once? Does everyone forget that Bell was literally shot first by an operator of Perseus, and not even for national security reasons or treason. But for some personal bullshit.
I've never seen this ending and im pretty shocked ngl. Its also interesting to know that you learn that Perseus is a group and not just a person, whereas everyone else that doesn't play the campaign learn it at the end of the cold war warzone story when Stitch is killed.
Without the fact that we just detonated nukes, I personally think this is the Best ending for Bell. I mean this is the only ending where he still alive and is not bretrayed or lied too
@@bobsempletank5362 Araj dies from Adler, Volkov is player determined (also Bell doesn't recognize him as a former ally yet), Charkov is player determined (and on the hands of Belikov) and the only one he could "get revenge on" after he remembers his past is Perseus leader himself, but for that it would lead to the ending Bell dies
@@live_ng1805 arash literally only betrays bell because he was jealous of bell being more popular to perseus. it wasn't the soviet union that betrayed bell, it was literally only one colleague of his that was salty of him getting all the attention.
One thing to note, while I love Mason as a character, I find it crazy how onboard he was with brainwashing a soldier GIVEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM! Like, he LITERALLY knows how evil and terrible it is but goes along with the lie anyway. They are not heroes, they are soldiers willing to do evil for their country. This ending is a lot like the OG black ops, but from the Soviet perspective.
I remember getting lit asf at a mates house and playing this when it was brand new, I was half expecting to die and half expected a cutscene but to my surprise woods got fuckin no scoped from across the map, we blew up mason with a couple hand grenades, then proceeded to point blank range Adler with a sniper the second he said his last line, shit was comedy gold at like 3 am
Somebody had the presence of mind to give Igor the company idiot a toy RPG, otherwise he would kill all of them, including Bell, at the very beginning.
While both endings are kinda shitty (either you save the world but die at the hands of your own handler, or you resist the manipulation and make your own choices, but bring down nuclear hellfire), the way they are implemented is done really well. Both twists are believable and logical. I really like this new type of CoD game that's basically a Tom Clancy novel made into a game.
The best thing about this ending is when their names go from blue to red like a hostile right after you lie to them about where Perseus is, it’s just cool detail
I love how choosing the Duga option causes their names to become red, but in the last second of signaling the ambush you can see Adlers name still in blue. Never a dull moment in modern gaming development.
Good, evil.... I think we can all agree that this ending is ten times more badass than the other one. Saving the world just felt like a generic CoD ending but I'll never forget the feeling I got when Adler asked me to light his cigarette and I just shot him in the face instead.
I loved this games endings because it really felt like two conflicting endings You could betray adler and detonate the nukes. This ending was awesome for your character, you get revenge on all the people who backstabbed you, and get to work along side someone who respects you. But the world burns Or you can side with adler. You don’t get any respect, and your story ends with you possibly shot, but you’ve saved most of the world. It’s a difficult choice, mostly based on how Adler makes you feel like shit for saving the world
I appreciate Treyarch having these alternate and different endings. Infinity Ward always goes the cookie cutter american hero story route with america good and all else bad
