in this version of the extreme reactors it seems like the chess pattern is not a very good pattern, instead should go for a nucleus of rods in the middle with about 3 layers of just moderators sorrounding, due to some cross-radiation mechanic which is very beneficial even for fuel consumption, still does not change the fact the mod is underpowered in the pack
It will make ungodly amounts of steam though, which can run many a turbine, which in return makes pretty decent amounts of power. It’s just being done half assed here.
@@poelmeister One thing I do wonder and admittedly am not going to try to figure out myself 😁 is which turbine setup -- the Mekanism one like Dire currently has or the Extreme Reactors one -- more efficiently generates RF per amount of steam. (I suppose this might also be a moot point if "steam" is different between the two mods, but if it's the same and Mek turbines are more efficient, he could maybe make his ER reactor active-cooled and pipe the steam to his existing turbine. Alternately, if ER turbines are more efficient, build one or more of those for all his reactors to pipe steam into.)
@@slartimus Well, based on memory, the ER ones I think can get more crazy powerwise but it's a bit of a journey to get the materials to reach that level. The Mek ones are build and done, so less of a hassle. I can't really prove it since CurseForge and FTB went full authoritarian and won't allow play without overwolf bloatware so I stopped playing their packs.
Dire, the 'not being able to brake blocks till you kill the Elder Guardians' thing... is only a slight change on vanilla. In vanilla, Elder Guardians give you Mining Fatigue 3(5 minutes) after spawning & every minute after.
Last I checked the mining laser was not affected by mining fatigue..... not that that helps with the tombstone but it does make the monument easier....especially with freeze
@@ockerspock3432 I knew, I made an ice tunnel trying to enter it, but it won’t work when I close to it, even the destruction tools(from building gadget)
If I were you, instead of just setting a fixed flow of RF into the SPS, I would place a Flux Point on the generators network with a priority between 0 and whatever you've put on the one with the trash can, so any excess goes into antimatter, and you won't run out of power, and at anytime you improve your power generation, it will automatically go into the SPS, while keeping the trashcan with an even lower priority will still be a safeguard against any mishaps
This is something I would do after I tackle one fully first. Swim through it, kill the elder guardian, loot all the treasures and then if I find any more I just plop a quarry or digital miner on top.
Vanilla Elder Guardian give you a mining fatigue which prevent you from breaking block. And their attack also ignore armour which also mean enchantment doesn't matter. You can avoid their attack by hiding behind block. I know I am talking like a vanilla nerd here. But I really not. This is just for dire :). Keep the work
12:34 Sponges are normally found, in vanilla, in ocean monuments. There is a room called the "Sponge Room" in them, which is literally full of sponges. To avoid needing to go through the monument, you can just put a digital miner for sponges on top of one.
Copper works. But it tarnishes and those blocks do not work. Also you are not surrounding the rods on the edge of the reactor with the blocks. The reactor casing needs to be one larger all around. Put Last Stand on your armor and keep 50ish levels on you. You’ll thank me later
Tickles me every time Dire encounters a vanilla mechanic and cant figure out how to deal with it, or assuming its a mod. :P Raiding ocean temples is surprisingly easy once you know the trick.
Best Botania mana source, just throw all the enchanted armour, weapons and tools from your mob farm on to a few Rosa Arcana's then void the freshly un-enchanted stuff. You will need better than the regular mana spreader per Rosa Arcana, even the elven spreader struggles to keep up with one flower.
That's a really cool idea, I'll try that. I was using the nether star eating flowers with an automated Wither builder and killer. That works really well too but I'm tired of seeing the Wither health bars. I guess I could just move that wither spawner setup somewhere else but your idea is easier.
man dire got unlucky with the underwater forts, i can count like seven within 100 chunks of my base lmao, just was flying home with simple planes one day early on and just kept seeing them like oh hey theres one lemmi mark that, oh this one is closer, alright im getting tired of seeing them now lol, safe to say when i do decide to go for one i have many options
Dire just dial it back with amount of rods put in more netherite blocks and your power should be growing your basically at this point wasting heavily on the aspect of design. Checker board patterns are to make a lot of spent fuel and not power you want power to have at least 5 to 6 block around each rod per layer if i had to show you what i mean let use one rod as a example. you place one rod down in one layer to remove the heat it need a block next to it but to get better cooling place a block between the blocks you place making a longgated crystal shape it will dissipated the heat much more and give you more power.
@@Ishsa Yeah, one of the few things I don't like about living in the Pacific Northwest. On the other hand, the episodes are always released when I wake up 🤷
The sponges in the temple are in a room near the top, if there at all, guardians don't drop them. And they are giving you mining fatigue which is why you can't break a block, like your grave, especially underwater. Vanilla mechanics once again. Can a dimension be formed made up of sponges? And if you're going to make drones harvest living wood and stone, why not set up a drone to feed flowers coal when the mana pool is low as well?
Another thing to do to improve the extreme reactor is: Don't use the checkerboard pattern. That used to be super efficient, in the original mod. But in it's current state a solid square core with coolant blocks on the cardinals and empty corners works noticably better. For your 7x7 you should probably have a 3x3 core.
I've never found anti-matter to be worth the cost of the set up. It's too expensive for what it allows you to do, now maybe that could change with mod maker, or in a pack that doesnt have mining lasers or some other type of ore gen, but as is it loses out to even manual mining.
You know... One would think Dire would finally just have a list of vanilla mechanics or something >..> or Perhaps Dire is putting more effort into pretending to not know 'enough' when it comes to the base game...
Short answer: Mining Fatigue from Guardian Temples is a vanilla thing. It's not something people considered because.... well you don't HAVE gravestones in vanilla, so not really an issue....
Cant even play this pack. FTB app dont have a logout button and it says Error: Cannot update, validate or find your profile, please sign in again. SO IM SCREWED! Move this package to an app that works!
in previous ver the best pattern is the + pattern and the worst one is the chest pattern that you're currently using and I recvomend you using the reactor as an active reactor with the whole 5 sides being smushed with ER turbines since you build 9x9x9 it's possible to build max size turbines so you'll probably get ~ 140 krf based from the old ver
that laser is painfully slow mining netherite, a fully upgraded & enchanted, 7x7 fluxbore would be WAY better than the mining gadget, and it doubles as a shovel too
Dire, you have the ability to make a dimension with DT fuel oceans. You could just set up a pump into an entangloporter and use the mekanism fusion reactor, pumping DT fuel directly into it (which you can totally do, it's just not done as often as separated D and T). it might not be as efficient as using deuterium and tritium separately, but fuel efficiency does not matter when the fuel is infinite. you'd be able to get an outrageous amount of power this way. The only problem is that it'd be boring
Just to let you know it's not a mod that disallowed you from breaking blocks at the underwater temple, that's a vanilla thing, however it was a mod that displayed that in chat though I don't know which one nor why.
Dire is right that there is a mod making the guardian temple harder, you do not get a message telling you that you can't break blocks near the temple while the elder guardians are alive in vanilla. one of the better dungeon mods likely add it to prevent someone from cheesing the temple by using a quarrying, or TNT to blast strait into the elders guardian room
Well, let's run through the checklist, early morning comments, coffee, cinnamon rolls, sausage, and Direwolf20! All systems seem good. Cobble works? Negative red rider.... still....... the wait is real......
Hey Dire, I'm pretty sure there's an upgrade for letting your chestpiece charge other pneumatic devices in your inventory- if you aimed your wireless pneumatic charging at your armor, you could then piggyback off of that into the rest of your inventory.
I’ve been enjoying the more technical mods but I love seeing the magical mods. Botania is absolutely my favorite and happy to see it again. As always, loved the video
11:27 If you have a flux point or plug, you can find where is it no matter what because the newest version of flux networks now have the network system implemented, allows you to see all the components with their detailed info.
Dire, why not use a Quantum Entagloporter to move the nuclear waste to the End and process it in Solar Neutron Activators there where it is always day instead of worrying about night?
I know it'd take the "Solar" out of "Solar Neutron Activator", but I kind of wish, for the sake of the "zomg gotta sleep" situation, that putting like a glowstone block or something on top of the SNA worked to keep it running at night.
The entangloporter doesn't transport anything that could cause a nuclear incident if it leaked, but the entangled blocks from Entangled sure can be used to transport them far away and cross dimensionally.
