Thank you so much for sharing this today! I am definitely a person who has a problem with sugar. Always have been. The struggle is real! I can get off it and I'm okay, but the moment I walk past a case of fresh donuts at the store.... Kryptonite. Cocaine. It will literally affect me mentally for days to come, haunting me, affecting my mood. Awful. Because I just want a donut. I am not some one who is okay with sugar substitutes. The whole xylitol, stevia, etc trend drives me bonkers. It's a drug by another name. I'm in a huge transition right now metabolically (baby #6 has officially weaned. My body is freaking out), and my husband dared me to go cold turkey on sugar again just to cut that out of the equation and make it easier for the rest of things. This is day 2. Your message is perfectly timed. Thank you again. Is it pathetic that this got me choked up? LOL. You have 3k+ followers because you are good at what you do and you share your heart.

Yes i agree with this totally. I am a recovered alcoholic of 22 years. I still do not frequent bars and have no desire too. I am also a person who has struggled with sugar. I had high blood sugar and cut all sweets from my diet for 2 yrs. Then started allowing small amounts and am back where I started. 🤦 But ! I am cutting out all my sweets once again and have learned my lesson. Thank you!

I have cut out sugar since watching this video, and still occasionally watch it to re-motivate. You really DO stop craving sugar after some time, and I feel incredibly better since cutting it out of my diet. No added sugars, whatsoever. I feel amazing! The 17lbs I've lost so far is just an added bonus :). So thank you for literally helping to change my life!

Love that you tell it like it is!! I quit Dr. Pepper cold turkey a little over a month ago and have no plans to add it back into my diet....ever. I may or may not have loving caressed a Dr. Pepper bottle at Target the other day, but drink it....nope. My adult acne has almost completely gone away since cutting out sugar and that is so worth it. Thanks for the video!!

I've often told people I need to treat sugar addiction like alcohol addiction and avoid it when you can, for the rest of life. I went on a ketosis diet a couple years ago that was so low in sugar (not even fruit, carrots, or corn....seriously low sugar) I literally felt SICK and nauseous when I did splurge and eat too much sugar (which then was still less than I probably eat today) on a given day. I thought I was cured. But months later.....when we decided to homeschool....,stress and emotional eating...I slowly built up a tolerance to sugar again. Sigh. Anyway.....I know what you're saying is true.

Rachel Smith very true, takes months to break free and a few "treats" to be back in the struggle.

This video is so explaining me. I am so addicted to food and especially sugar. I have only successfully lost a large amount of weight once and that was because I was pregnant and I completely changed my lifestyle to keep myself healthy for my baby. Once I was done breastfeeding I completely went backwards and gained all 50 pounds I lost back plus some :,( I lost 30 pounds recently but again I went backwards and gained it all back. I can’t do it! My own health isn’t a working motivator for me because I was diagnosed with high blood pressure before loosing the 30 pounds and I already gained it all back. I am only 27. Between major stress and my food and sugar addiction I feel like I and just stuck.

Ashlee, Thank you so much for sharing. This video could not have come at a more perfect time. I've been struggling with weight for so long- I don't know what diet to try anymore. I'm definitely one who fooled myself that all I need to do is "balance..." Pointing out that it is an addiction puts it in whole different perspective. Tomorrow is a new day!!! Going cold turkey and eliminating sugar from my diet.

I totally agree with everything you have said. I have totally given up cokes/sugar based drinks, limit sugar consumption to bdays and my Sunday coffee at church, and I don't purchase sugar like I used to. I quit making sweet tea daily- I thought all good wives had sweet tea waiting for their husbands- seriously. The only sugar we have at our house now is brown for the occasional oatmeal- butter, milk, and brown sugar in my oatmeal- this is heaven in a bowl. I have been putting less and less sugar in my oatmeal as I am adjusting my palate. Not purchasing white sugar and sugar cereals for my husband/kids has been the best decision in regards to food outside of not eat eating GMO products.

I have had to cut sugar out of my diet due to having candida overgrowth in my intestines. I had to cut it out cold turkey. I didn't eat a ton of sugar before, but the diet limits sugar intake to where honey, and high glycemic fruits are not permitted. It has been over three months now since I have completely cut sugar out. After doing my own research, sugar is so bad for our bodies. We have even cut our daughter's intake significantly and she is so good about it. Grocery shopping, she knows how to read the labels (she is 6) to determine if something is okay for her to eat or not. Since cutting down her intake of sugar, she is able to control her emotions so much better. Praise the Lord for such a simple solution to the behavior issues we were having at home.

I cut out processed foods from our family’s diet, and cutting out added sugar was just a byproduct of that change. A lovely side effect is that now things that we would consume regularly (like Gatorade) are now too sweet for my tastes, and things I would never have enjoyed before (unsweetened tea) are now things I enjoy regularly

Thank you for this video. I have gone cold turkey many times and experienced withdrawal which really showed me that I had an addiction. The problem I have is I am "Alcoholic number 2". I know that the moment I start to reintroduce sweets I get tangled up again. Sometimes I have balance but put many options of sweets in front of me such as at a party and I can't seem to say no or I have had enough. I would love more videos on what you eat in a day or what would be good healthy substitutions for sugar addicts.

Wow. That was like you were looking right in my eyes seeing right through me. Lol This is something I struggle with Soooo bad. I can stop eating fried foods, carbs, blah, blah, blah. But I can't kick the sugar. But it's because I "balance" it. I didn't realize that it was just repeating that cycle of guilt, feeling horrible after, and not being able to be where I want to be fitness wise. I was just telling my husband I'm starting back tomorrow. I'm doing it. I was doing great for 6 months. But I lost the motivation. I honestly don't know what happened. Maybe we got really busy, or I was experiencing burn out. But it's been 4 months, and I've worked out here and there. But nothing routine. Anyways, sorry for the rambling. But this helped me so much. I have to kick the sugar. I want to be a good example for my children. Not to mention addiction of any kind is a sin, and that was hard to swallow. So thank you for the real, and the truth. ❤

I'm definitely a sugar addict! My struggle is knowing what to eat because it seems like so many foods have hidden sugars in them. My real struggle is breakfast. I hate eggs and protein shakes. I have found most breads have added sugar so that's out. Nutrition choices are just hard!

Our Country Life its hard, but the more sugar we eat the more we want it, slowly over time our tastebuds acclimate back to not enjoying sweet tastes. Try a whole wheat piece of bread or Ezekiel toast with a tsp of nut butter instead.

What's your advice on "healthy" foods with sugar? I just got the built bars you recommend in the mail yesterday and noticed the one I grabbed had 6g in it. I, too, am a homeschool mom (of 9!) and my life's busy- so I do easier "healthy" foods. Not like lean cuisine or anything, but frozen zucchini noodles, protein bars, 100% whole wheat bread etc. What's your advice on these "healthy" foods that contain sugar?

Wow! Great video......although that felt like a good slap in the face to wake me up. I literally feel like I can’t stop eating sugar, but if you were to ask me a couple years ago I would have said you are nuts. Any words of encouragement on the subject for someone like myself?

Grace and Grit when I was in my fifth pregnancy I tested borderline diabetic- bedrest and drinking sugar drinks daily don't go well together😁. I could not have any milk products at all as it would raise my sugar. I never had high sugar according to my doctors goals, but I had too high for healthy numbers in my opinion-kwim. I quit all sugar except my occasional oatmeal and my weekly church coffee- and I feel so much better!
