Most of this is from therapies I took from the VA with the S.t.a.r.e group. Watching your emotions go by like on a river and feeling sensations instead of engaging with feelings. To watch them go by and just be a observer, im glad its being taught outside of these systems

I've been doing a technique that's almost exactly like this one for 6 months now for multiple hours a day (I don't plan to do it, it's my intuition that tells me to and it hardly ever tells me to do anything else than this), it's super intense, but my inner and outer world are changing week after week.

Watching the cold shower example I came to the realization that ever since being a kid I've been tensing up with basically any day to day sensations. Pet the dog? Clenching my jaw. Trying to not fail a difficult task? Biting my lips. In a social situation? Tense up my gut. Driving the car? Squeezing the wheel. So it only makes sense there are also problems letting go of anything else

I learned about this concept julian is talking about from a therapist i went to and i have been doing this almost every day now over the last 3 years after the wim hof breathing (because the mind and body are more relaxed). Letting go is not a one time process, there is almost always things you need to let go of, the more you do it the better you get at doing it, and the easier it becomes do it even without the actuall need to sit down and relax (i sometimes find myself do it while things are happening to me and thats ok). @JulienHimself can you pleaseee write a book with all your teachings. I watch a bunch of your videos and I absolutely love your wisdom and how you give it over so clearly. For me books can help me to really internalize information through highlighting specific phrases that are powerful to me. This really helps me hold onto the important knowledge that I want to hold onto. It then serves as reference for me to help me in my personal journey. There are many good books out there but I feel like they are all missing something from what you teach. You somehow tie it all together in a practical way that makes sense. If you wud write a book I know I wud benefit tremendously from it on my journey towards self, and I KNOW many others will benefit from it as well. I know you have a lot on your plate but I beg of you please please consider undertaking this task of writing your book as it wud personally benefit me and many others. Thank you for all that you do! ❤️💪🙏

By far the best explanation I've ever heard on the topic... If you let go of some of the layers of resistance to the actual trauma, does that also lessen your reaction to the thing that triggers you or is it until you have let go of all the layers including the trauma itself that you notice a change and is any sensation during the meditation linked to the trauma you're currently trying to let go of? If anyone in the comments also, has any experience with this, would love to hear your thoughts too...

Hey Julien, I really appreciate the content you’re producing. Can you shed a little more light on the idea of being unable to let go if you are “expecting” to let go? Because from my perspective, the whole reason anyone is even doing this practice IS because they want to let go. So if that is the end goal, then when the emotion comes, it’s difficult for me to not have the “is the emotion gone yet?” Mentality if that make sense. Almost like a catch 22 type of situation. I have to fully be okay with the emotion staying there forever but at the same time the whole reason I’m doing this practice is to be proactive in releasing these emotions.

I believe a more fitting term would be 'surrender' instead of 'letting go.' By embracing what arises within us and surrendering to it rather than trying to forcefully let go of it, we can truly release it. The essence lies in the act of surrendering throughout the entire process, allowing it to unfold naturally, rather than tensing up and resisting. The phrase 'letting go' can often be misleading, as it implies an active effort on our part.

Great stuff mate, really enjoyed getting into the specifics of the technique. I've been doing "somatic processing" for the last 2-3 years and having transformative results. It's similar to "letting go" in that the focus is on feeling into the body and lovingly embracing everything that shows up, but it's different in that it includes a lot of unconsciously directed movement; things like shaking, flexing, making noises (whimpering, screaming, grunting, growling), assuming weird positions, A LOT of crying/sobbing, intuitively talking to different "parts" etc. What do you think of that type of approach/how come you've chosen a less physical leaning? I'd argue the murky, disowned stuff moves much faster when somatic releases are involved (seing how trauma seems to get ingrained in the nervous system/manifests itself as muscle tension), but I'm curious to hear your take :) Also, I'd love to have you on my podcast and talk about your work! Thanks for continually great content

well you can let go an emotion, but emotion have root why you feel like that. it has some maybe childhood memory or trauma why you still feel that emotion in some situations. because emotion is just there so you could heal. it just wants your attention so you could understand it and do what you need to do. how does simply letting go emotion can help if emotion root is memory of childhood or some other memory/trauma?

Trying to use words to describe a process based on feeling-recognition and meta-level awareness is basically impossible, but this is the best explanation I've seen to date. High Vibe Communication is turning me into a social assassin, and now I'm using those same skills of letting go to specifically remove sexual blocks. I've started applying it to those feelings in my body and today alone, I've seen my interactions go 1000x better with MUCH less effort. It's giving them more room to enjoy me, chase me, and the hardest part is getting over the cognitive dissonance of how 'FXCKING' easy it actually is LOL

I've been doing this for years. Most times I've talked about it, people have said it's a shit idea. But, it feels like the only solid thing I have, so I keep doing it. The sensations in my body almost always seem very intense. I don't know that I feel any better from doing this. It's good to hear it being advocated as something helpful, though. The only other suggestions that this was a way forwards were doing Vipassana meditation, and in the book 'The Body Keeps The Score', the author says something like, 'Bodily awareness is the cornerstone of recovery from trauma.'

The problem I have over and over again with letting go/mindfulness meditations is that I feel a lot of sensations but they keep on appearing in different places of my body, I want to concentrate on them one at a time but they flourish in different places. I think that is a form of resistance too.

This is also why pausing the guided meditation at times in order to give you more time to add some "depth of feeling" is so crucial... 🙏

I am following your structure . When I am asking myself triggering questions my stomac becomes so tense that I start shaking . Is this reaction triggered sensations or my body resists to feel something ?

@@funkywarrior3906 shadow questions are questions when you dive deep in your subconcious . You should google them . Also you need to follow trail of whys to dive deep. It is practice when you ask yourself why do you have certain beliefs about yourself to find some core beliefs and fears . Than you can use this practice to let go of them
