Couple of days ago there was a tweet that he was due on the sim this week. Maybe there's been talks in the background, he's seen the plan/driven the sim and like you say gone "Yeah sign it off_
Here’s my prediction: Mercedes won’t be in a rush to sign a driver because let’s be realistic, every driver who’s up will be eyeing that second Merc seat. I think Merc waits out a good chunk of the season to see how Kimi Antonelli does in F2, and give him the seat if he smashes it. If not, it probably goes to Albon or maybe even Ocon. Heck, maybe Fernando jumps ship, who knows. They will have their pick on the market so it could literally be anybody. Side note: how bad does the W15 have to be for Lewis to test it and be like, “nah I’m good bruv, see ya”
@@TonySpike "Everyone is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say they're not, they are Ferrari fans". You think that (besides his great relationship with Vasseur) one of the greatest drivers of all time doesn't want a seat at a team where Schumi, Lauda, Alonso, Seb, Fangio, Raïkkönen, Villeneuve and others drove.
as an Italian, born in late '90s and grown up watching Michael dominating years, I am now as thrilled as I was in Interlagos 2007, as I was in Monza 2019, as I was when Seb got announced for the 2015 season. Please let this be true please I remember how much I hated RB Seb, and I remember how much I loved him afterwards. Identically, I remember Lewis as "the enemy" since his McLaren years, even more at Mercedes, and now I can't wait to have him on board! "Everybody is a Ferrari fan. Even if they're not, they are Ferrari fans" ♥
As a Ferrari fan I literally couldn't be more happier. The greatest drivers in F1 history drove for Ferrari and I think Hamilton knows we love him. I really hope Ferrari can pull this off so we can add one of the greatest of all time on that list of legendary Ferrari drivers.
@@DAGATHire The other teams are being greedy, Especially when half of them bring nothing to Formula 1 and only take away. Stop being a Liberty Media bootlicker..
This is so good for everyone, provided Antonelli actually delivers in F2. - Hamilton gets a chance at another WDC with fucking FERRARI. - Mercedes have a seat for Antonelli right away, avoiding any possibility of a Piasco season 2. - Russell gets the team leader role at Mercedes. - Antonelli gets a chance to prove his worth in a strong works team, instead of Russelling at the back for three seasons. - Sains gets a free transfer to future Audi one year in advance, allowing him to familiarize himself with the team before the new regulations, meaning he'd be more focused in '26.
Well, at least for the time being. I can't remember where I heard it from but Red Bull have some big news coming up. Looks like Pastor Maldonado will replace Max Verstappen for 2025 in the most exciting comeback since Schumacher in 2010. Just trust me bro.
Kimi will be 18 when he made his debut (born on August 2006, 5 years younger than Oscar). Fernando, Lewis and even George would race against 2 'Kimi's.
@@alimantado373 I know Sainz is the one leaving, but I feel Sainz deals with the Ferrari environment better than Leclerc does. Leclerc always looks like he’s one season away from just calling it quits.
I have a feeling that FOM/liberty waited for the andretti announcement so that people would be distracted. They knew people would get angry at them for refusing andretti, and know all people will talk about is hamilton to ferrari
Yeah..they see this news would leaked sometimes this week and just announced the rejection asap, that'll explain the half baked statement that they're called "reason" lmao, oh and their rejection is perfectly timed right after Andretti announces they been testing some models in Toyota's wind tunnel.
On another note... Lots thought Lewis was crazy to leave McLaren for Merc back in the day. That decision proved to be an astute one, and in hindsight showed that he saw something about both cars which forced his decision. Maybe this is a similar scenario??
You can actually still find the Tweets of 2012 where people showed extreme hate towards Lewis for that move saying it was for the money, it would destroy his legacy and that he'd join a mid-table team. Worked out pretty well that one
@@penusliski I don't think it was. He wanted to stay with the Merc PU, which McLaren were moving away from. Yes, McLaren had been successful with him, but that change of engine was a disaster for them. I think it was a decent educated guess that McLaren might struggle without the engine that suited their car so well
Hamilton to Ferrari? Frees up a seat at Merc, and with Vesti being a Mercedes junior, I can see Merc putting Albon in that seat to get Vesti into F1. Given Alex and George are great friends that could be a BIG lineup. Can also see Carlos going to RB and Perez calling time. Carlos and Max would be a huge team too.
Believe it people. I mean it kind of makes sense. Since 21, he’s been playing catch up with the team, he would’ve retired in 21 if he won the 8th. Spent majority of his career at Merc and has previous rumours with Ferrari. Take the gamble, try another prestigious team before the new regulations. Retire with the 8th, or retire with 7 and match Schumacher. As a merc and Hamilton fan, I honestly don’t see a problem.
This is WILD if it happens. Question- does Lewis genuinely believe Ferrari offer him the best go at a title shot, or is it just on his bucket list before retirement?
@@ricardopetrere honestly I can't see that happening. Charles is one hell of driver, plus Max's dominance. It'll take a submissive number two to even sniff the guy. I think this could potentially be a career ender. But maybe Lewis knows something we don't.
What I don't get is, why announce it now before the season begins? Surely this is an unneeded distraction for the people at Merc now having the knowledge he's leaving them. Will they work even harder to give him a winning car to try go out on high, or will they just ditch supporting him to focus more on George who's staying?
Carlos to replace Perez for 2025 kinda makes perfect sense no? Previously teammates with Max and part of the Red bull family, will be closer to max than Perez but not too close
things speaking for this being true: Vasseur was his team boss in GP2 back in the day at ART Hamilton already won 7 - it'd be beautiful to win his 8th at Ferrari and then retire. £40M per year offer - don't pretend like money doesn't matter. Literally all reputable outlets reporting on this. Some say this is already done deal. When it comes to Carlos, he's been rumoured to go to Audi anyway. in other words, this is better for Ferrari i think.
Lewis could be the first British driver to wear all red in F1 since Irvine. 26 year gap. Imagine when he wins a race and hear an anthem combo (British + Italian) that hasn't been heard since 1999.
@@fuzzy-daddy83 Northern Ireland is part of the UK and therefore Irvine raced under the Union Jack. Another notable F1 driver from Northern Ireland is John Watson and if you watch F1 Digital broadcast for the 2002 season you can hear his voice alongside Ben Edwards.
When you mentioned Carlos to Aston i was literally punching the air having seen this news and talking the same way you are in my head lmao absolutely insane. I also Think Albon to Merc would be the best for Merc and Albon imo....
I feel like Lewis feels he needs to prove to his critics that it wasnt just the car and he didn't get complacent at Mercedes. If he can take the fight to Max in another car, he'd be a lot less disliked. He knows what people say about him. The last two years at Mercedes have been a harsh lesson for him and put him back on the ground.
As expected, in F1 loyalty is owed to results and results only. Any Top Team will drop you if you falter and any Top Driver will jump ship if things aren't going well.
Senna was a huge fan of Clarke and Fitipaldi, so when Lotus opened the door, even when they were meh, Senna took it, so when McLaren opportunity showed up he went there. He never was a Ferrari fan
@glockmat he literally sent gerhard berger to Ferrari saying "i need to win a championship thats why im going to Williams this year, next year i will go to Ferrari"
If Carlos is available for next season, Red Bull seriously have to take a look at him. Would be a great win for them to nab him. He's a better option than Perez or Ricciardo who are in the late stages of their career (coming from a Checo fan!)
Beating Schumi's record in a Ferrari would be stuff of legends... plus if you factor in that the record might be broken by Max eventually... Winning with Ferrari would solidify Lewis as the GOAT.
why is nobody talking about antonelli in f2?? he has been an absolute menace in junior series so far, so if he does well in f2 this year he could get fast tracked straight into mercedes for 2025
@Tommo Mate I think Ocon will be Lewis replacement. He was Merc developed driver. Toto was the one who spoke to Cyril to get him that Renault seat. Don't forget the partnership time Merc had with h from force India. Ocon has proven himself on track. Also his contract comes to and end at the proper time.
Feel bad for Carlos but Obvioauly the move makes sense. Feels like they got leclerc signed asap and had this in the wings without potentially saying much to Carlos. To think he’s the only other driver to win a race outside of red bull last season
My bold and crazy prediction: Hamilton > Ferrari Norris > Mercedes Sainz > McLaren Reasoning: Mercedes needs time to develop their car, so younger drivers make more sense. Younger drivers also have more time, and Mercedes has the name to convince younger drivers to wait out the storm. Sainz was with McLaren in the past and did quite well for them, and since then, both Sainz and McLaren have improved. Why not reunite? Edit: I initially had Piastri to Mercedes because he's behind Norris, but his contract goes until 2026 and Lando's goes until 2025, so the timeline lines up so well for Lando to Mercedes.
My opinion on the Merc seat. Sainz is one of my best options, but i think he takes up the Sauber to Audi project. Either of the McLaren drivers are options, but i think they believe in the McLaren project. Albon is one of my best options as well, but it depends on Williams' performance this year. Checo could also be in the running, but i see Checo going on sabbatical. Overall, i think Albon
Since this seems like a done deal by now, Albon, Ocon and Sainz are likely in contention for a Mercedes seat. And, per reports since last year, Sainz, Ocon, Hulkenberg and Pourchaire are in contention for Sauber (soon Audi) seats. Bottas and Zhou might as well already say bye to F1, it's rare that the most likely outcome for a team is a complete driver line-up change but this is one of those rare instances at Sauber right now. And Kimi Antonelli might have just found an easy way into F1 without even racing above Formula Regional as of this moment lol, as I think Albon would be the most likely replacement for Hamilton at Merc, leaving his Williams seat open. Ollie Bearman also seems incredibly likely to drive for Haas next year, it's been announced he will even do 6 FP1s for Haas this year.
Lewis going to Ferrari sounds so.. crazy after all these years of him winning against Ferrari. It certainly would make the silly season absolute madness.. not gonna lie I kinda want to see this haha!
To be honest with you, I felt the same way when Raikkonen, Alonso and Vettel joined Ferrari back in the day. It was super weird at first but turned out to be super entertaining.
I guess at this point we might see carlos replace checo at red bull maybe?? Honestly it would be great to see alex alongside george, I genuinely hope it happens
First question I had was: Has Carlos left? (Audi came into my mind immediately) or has he been replaced. If he's left and Hamilton does join, then what a signing for ferrari. If he's been replaced, then my one question is WHY? I know Charles is Ferrari's golden boy but Sainz was on par with if not better than him last year.
Lol "Lewis is running from a fight" yet he's running to race Leclerc? The fastest man over a single lap? Come on guys, Lewis knows Mercedes isn't building the car and he thinks Ferrari can do it. If he wins a championship with Ferrari he's cemented forever as the GOAT.
So many storylines coming out of this: Where does Sainz go? Do Mercedes go after Albon? Lewis trying to beat Schumacher's record in a team that he revived from obscurity Leclerc vs Hamilton...... who do you back if they challenging for a title? Does Leclerc leave if Hamilton starts getting preferential treatment? What happens to Ferrrari if it all goes wrong?
Will merc pick up Albon and give a Williams seat to a young Vesti/Kimi? Is Toto finding Ocon's phone number again? Or will it be Seb coming out of retirement?
This just doesn’t feel real. Seems like Lewis will retire as a Ferrari driver. Crazy world we live in. Hope this move works for him and he gets another championship, but man, this is just weird.
Lewis is not afraid of George. He absolutely smashed George last year for some reason noone wants to admit that. Leclerc is going to be a much bigger challenge!
This has always been one of those "what if's" given how much respect and such Lewis has had for Ferrari etc etc, it's insane that we will finally get to see this. Lewis will be so much more loved now aswell
Honestly this is such a smart move by Ferrari and Lewis. Lewis gets a new challenge, can potentially return Ferrari to glory. Go against Charles (I think Charles is better and will beat him but it’s still a very good challenge), he’s won 7 tittles so he has nothing to prove and with ferrari. It’s all about getting the personelle to win a title. Charles is amazing but he’s not like Lewis in terms of being a serial winner. Maybe Lewis persuades toto to join in some senior role that’s total theory. I can finally go to Silverstone without feeling out of place because in 2025 everyone will be wearing red haha. Its sad with Carlos coz I really like him, But first and foremost I’m a Ferrari fan so this great news
7:15 but Charles is more likely to follow team orders if necessary compared to George who will only prioritise himself at Merc lol Long gone is the Williams version of "I will sacrifice my race if it helps my teammate"
@@Ricardo_Pickles I don’t remember what race but I think 2021 when Latifi was going to get points and George said he’d sacrifice his own race (strategy+pit stops and pace) in order for that to happen Points for Williams meant so much at that time because they were struggling financially.
