I pick up a new rod and reel from my local Walmart and head to a pond to see how it casts! Come along and let's check it out together! It's a little chilly out so you may want to bundle up.

*Used this rod recently on a river hike in NH. It performed beautifully **enjoyable.fishing** recommend as I had hoped it would, on a whole heap of river smallies using tiny torpedoes and tubes.*

I am watching this because I found this rod with the reel the rod was kinda behind our house which is a lake and it was mostly dried is we just went down there and found this rod with that reel so yeah clean it all off and it still works after being in water and mud for awhile idk how long but a while for sure The Rod quantum torsion im6 rod

Budget rod & reel combo, Made In China. Having said that, the Lew's Xfinity is of very good quality. I own 4 of these and use them in freshwater as well as saltwater. They surprisingly hold up very well to salt, with no corrosion after several years of use. I clean and oil them regularly, which is a must. I am very pleased with Lew's, good choice.

Love the gear by Lew's, from the most expensive down to the affordable ones, they all rock. Medium-Heavy fast action rods are the most versatile of them all.

I just got the same set up brand new on clearance at walmart. 2 different stores. 1 had the reel for $40 and the other store had the rod for $15. $55 plus tax total. I'm stoked to have put together a great deal on what should be a great all around combo ! Thanks for the review. Will do one of my own this spring ! ✌✌

I just picked up this combo on clearance from Walmart. I'm impressed, esp for what I paid. I have a Mach 1, Mach Smash, Laser TSX heavy and this. Tomorrow is my first trip on the water with it. Pretty sure it will perform close to the Smash. The Mach 1 and TSX are in a different category but highly enjoyable.

I concur, it casts quite a bit better than the Ozark trails otx pro(my 1st baitcaster). Just got given a new pascifun torrent. So I have 3 now. Hope it cast as well as the lews

So I personally really like expensive reels but I’m not that big on expensive rods due to the fact that they are so prone to breaking, that being said the least xfinity speed stick is one of my top recommended budget rods. I currently have it paired with the shimano slx dc, so the sensitivity of the graphite shank paired with the metal construction of the reel, you can practically feel the fish looking at your bait. The one complaint I have is the line eyes are easily cracked and bent out of place, other than that it’s GREAT.

Lew's is a good budget combo for sure. I haven't been able to bring myself to buy a Shimano reel, but would love to at some point. That would probably be a game changer for me! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 🎣👊

I had that reel for my first baitcaster. But sold it to get a bass pro qualifier 2 when they went on sale black friday. The Lews was a great reel..

Pro quailfer reels are good been useing them 4 yrs starting to mess up,got them on sale 50$ each not worth fixing im switching to lews

I think its awesom.i just bought one first time ive seen it,i havent tried it yet but i have a few of the classic pros and acouple of the lews bb cranking reels ,nice rod to ill look for them next time i go to wall mart

Right On!!! Just got this rod not the reel. Loved the way it cast......then I caught my first fish with that pole. A 6 pound stripper. Snapped the pole in 2 like it was nothing. Still landed the fish though. Have a great day.

Nice review. I never understood why RH baitcaster users do everything with the right hand then switch after casting. Im right handed and I use a LH baitcaster and can cast more without having to swap the rod back and forth between each hand.

Thats a sweet deal for $100! I love the combo, just caught my PB Largemouth on it if you haven't seen the video. I've got mine spooled up with 20lb Power Pro braid with about a 6ft 12lb Trilene leader. 🎣👊

What's the heaviest leader you've used and with what connection knot?

I'll generally go with a 10-15lb Fluorocarbon leader and use a double uni knot to join to my main line. I'm no expert by any means, this is just what I use. Thanks for watching! 🎣👊

Worm hook would've been better for sure. That was a 3/0 Hammer Hook by Googan with a 3" Zoom Beatdown Finesse worm. I really should've used a Ned head. Thanks for watching! 👊
