Removing Spare tire just in case you get a flat tire and get stranded in the middle of a bad neighborhood. This is a quick tutorial on how to get in and out.
Great vid. Thanks so much for posting. Very helpful. Just picked up a gx460 this past weekend. Needless to say...your 460 vids will come in super handy. Thanks again.
I was literally about to remove my spare today, got underneath to look and said to myself WTF? Thanks, this video is definitely coming in handy tomorrow. 👍 I'm done for today lol
Thanks. I was looking for instructions on another toyota I own (FJ60 series), and found nothing out there......then thought I would look up GX400 series as my wife owns, and found your vid. Much better than the owner manual, thanks much, subscribed. Hoping to get tire lowered tonight here in five below MN in garage temp.
Hi Mark while you got your spare down you might as well do this also. You can thank me later. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uv4sRv76Q7U.html
Thank you for your crystal-clear instructions. Greatly appreciated. To be brutally honest, I had spent quite some time trying to do it MY way, but it didn't work. Most likely is somewhere in the 200+ pages owner's manual.
In essence, it's at the 1 o'clock angle. Thank God, I've not needed the spare. Now I know, should I need to. Again, thank you BOB for your quick videos/guides..
Thanks BOB for another great video, i wish toyota and all manufacturers make this a electric down/up system it wont be too hard but would make things alot easier for wifes, girlfriends and even a guy like me who never changed a tire in life as of yet lol
Excellent video Bob - appreciate it. By the ways, did you know that you could also maximize use of this video for teaching people about the birds and the bees? Just a thought.
That would be inappropriate as this is first and foremost a family channel. As you can tell, all 200 of my videos are strictly audited by my team to proudly display the rated PG symbol for all viewers.
Thank you for the upload sir! Just a quick question are you missing some tools inside the tool kit? Also I’m curious to know what goes inside the other panel? Mine was a first aid pouch but I saw two straps, seems like something else should be there
not sure if i'm missing tools but if i am, i most likely don't need it. i used the same kit to do the hydraulic jack in my other video. The other panel has my first aid kit and some ratcheting straps in case i need to tie anything down to my roof rails.
@@GXBOB well in your other video how to take the back panel off to redo the camera you have some interesting toys strapped there, not original Lexus parts for sure.
Hi BOB, I just did this and noticed that the front side of the spare tire sits a little lower to the ground than back side when I reeled it back up (a little slanted). Is this normal? It feels tight and snug otherwise. I guess I should have looked how it sits first before lowering it.
Hi Tu, technically you can adjust any way you'd like. All you have to do is keep it leveled while you're turning up back into its space. Sometimes its easier to do it with 2 people so one can turn the bar while the other person eyeballs the tire back into place. Also make sure the thing that clamps around the inside diameter of your wheel is properly set in place, that can throw off the leveling of it too.
Thanks for the video. Just got my first flat tire today. Unfortunately, as soon as I lowered my spare tire, it also came with a severe tear on the sidewall. No idea how that could've happened? I just picked up a 2021 a few months ago.
@@GXBOB Thanks a lot for the reply Bob :) One question, I'm about to swap on some 265/70r18 all terrains on my GX. Do you think that size will fit in the spare area?
@@vadim9342 hey, the good thing about the under carriage spare tire compartment is its not confined to just the oem tire dimensions. The chain that attached the tires swings in all directions. All you have to do is guide it to where you want it when you crank up the chain. Even though the 60’s ride up to my tow hitch, i can easily push it back more if i wanted to.
Hey WEC, Its a chain hoist. Very normal typical chain link. I typically wind it up snug to the point where the tire has no slack to move around or come off its adapter, but not tight enough where the rubber is going to compress against the metal floor ceiling of its housing and cause frictional tire wear over time.
funny thing you said that because i was seriously shopping for rims and tires. I considered going big and thought about the spare tire. I don't think i would replace my spare tire. I would only use the oem spare tire to get me back to civilization and replace the flat one. I thought long and hard. Only makes sense to change out the 4 tires i'm riding on unless you have a tire carrier and u want to show off your Method 305's.
i've never in my entire life yanked anyone's chain. If chain means "sausage", then yeah, i've never yanked one except that time in college me and my dorm mate was curious.
Great to know how to lower it in order to pump up the air in the tire in get rid of the low tire light when the Temps drop about 40 degrees in 24 hours!
Все необходимые инструменты уже есть в наборе инструментов вашего автомобиля на заднем отделении. Никаких дополнительных инструментов вне автомобиля я не использовал.
@@edzed3865 I'm sure you can use one leg to push the big tire in while you crank the tire up to guide it. I never attempted to put anything other than stock so I can't make a fair assessment
I was wondering if you knew how to turn off the tpms light on a 2013 Lexus GX460 I got a flat the other day and got a new tire today and my light didn’t turn off
Hey Justin, don't believe u can do that manually. I don't even think there is a reset button for as long as i've owned all 3 generations. The tires have monitors. If your lights are on and your pressure is good, that means the people who replaced your tires took your monitors? I've never had to deal with it so i may check on the lexus forums.
