The Dubas crop doesn't really work IMO. It just looks like a random screencap of him blinking. You have to see the full clip to get it. So lame they're not allowed to show it.
I remember watching a Leafs game back in the day, and Harry Neale came out with the great line, "The Leafs have a very good record when leading after three periods."
it's a shame they got rid of the colour guy and replaced them all with stats talking heads....i think that was tsn's fault when they started putting the guy down at ice level then everyone copied.
Trade Justin Holl!!! At least 2 goals this game scored against the Leafs cuz of his play. Lots of goals this year scored against the Leafs cuz of his play. Just please trade Justin Holl
I love how Steve says: "Shut up!...." and he's alone in the room but knows we are all saying the exact same thing at the same time as if all thousands of us are in the room with him!
Yea considering y’all deserved to win that game I feel bad they didn’t even get a point out of it. But knowing your team can come back from a 4-1 deficit is always positive, gg man
When they cut to the shot of Dubas shutting his eyes and turning away after the bounce goal, I thought it was the Chicago GM. Then he turned around and I realized it was Kyle. Just beyond belief.
@@Gl-my8fw While I can't disagree with you 100% on this I do think he's much better on the PK. But he's still better than a lot of players. On other teams he would be on the PP1
After the infamous choke in the game 7 Boston playoff series and last year's choke leading the Habs 3 games to 1, I have come to the conclusion that no Leafs' lead is ever safe
People complaining about Mrazek are stupid and know nothing about the game of hockey. If not for Mrazek the leafs lose 7-5. The dude made 3 or 4 mind blowing saves. Also, lets not forget that Campbell let in 4 in his last 3 starts. Its not our goalies folks. Its our team defense thats been brutal.
Hat Guy / Steve split screen intro... stellar!!! It is also a win. I'll be in Vancouver for the game on the 18th. Another shoot out win/loss??? Either way, I'm their... I win!!! I'm also attending the Arizona??? game on the 19th (my birthday) Go Me!!! Love your energy Steve! Keep it up!!!
Can we please for the love of god send Holl down for the rest of the year or trade him, and actually pick up a reliable 2nd line guy? Every time the Leafs give up a bad goal, it’s almost inevitable Justin Holl is on the ice. If we want any chance to go on a playoff run this year, we CANNOT have a guy like Holl on our team
Holl is absolutely atrocious. I don’t know what happened to that man but he has no business being in the lineup. We’d be better off giving an opportunity to a prospect.
VINTAGE! Great video Steve. Leafs Win! But oh the problems exposed. This is why I and thousands of Leafs fans watch you. Expressing what its like to be a LEAFS FAN! Just do you....side note, great edits by Drew this time. The Dubas insert....the Hat Guy and Steve side by side simultaneously?!?!? NICE!
If each Leafs line scratched and faught every period of every game, the way their 4th line does, this team would stand number one in the league. Talent is only part of the formlula. Passion and work ethic is another. It was passion and grit that allowed Chicago to come back. It was the same passion and grit that fuelled the Habs last spring.
Grit is not in DUmBASs vocabulary. Im pretty sure that Shenahan had to explain to him what fans are talking about and Im sure stepped in and thats when we now have ritchie, simmonds and clifford in lineup. We need grit in Dfence. But based on recent trade, he just traded gabriel for a 5'11 185 lb dman. He just does not get it. My opinion...as long as Holl and Engvall are in lineup and DUmBASs is still around....we are not a contending team.
@@vl68934 And the nonsense starts again that people lie and say a bunch of garbage they know isn't true because they don't like having a GM that has been in the league forever and accomplished nothing and no person should be a gm that isn't currently a GM and the multiple guys on the Leafs that hit, fight and are aggressive should be ignored because it doesn't fit the narrative they want. The Leafs third line is one of the best in the NHL at shutting down the play and pushing teams around but hey, lets ignore that because that wouldn't go along with the narrative.
Yeah, it's a combination of the "killer instinct" we heard so much about and dumbass giveaways. Trying to be cute - either in their own zone or in transition. There's also the Holl-Muzzin pair - good grief! I wonder: for what % of our GA have these two been on the ice?
LFRs stepped up hard, glad youre keeping on doing them. 15 years in and that cold open is among some of the best, standing next to the Fear of the hockey demons cold opening and the original bostunned opening
I'm gonna have to say that in my opinion, what's throwing the leafs off isn't injuries to their defense, or bad playing. I think it's the loss of leadership in Jason Spezza. Anyone else agree?
Funny how Leaf Nation go ballistic even after a win, (hollow win though). Anyways... David Savard of the Habs is now likely up for grabs (hey that rhymes) Let's send them Holl and Engvall. Yeah, he's slow, but he's smart, physical, and D comes first. Holl needs a change of scenery. Once you're in Leaf Nation's doghouse, hard to get out of it. I've always doubted Holl was bona fide top 4, but his play has been brutal, and it gets worse in the playoffs, so......
I think of it as Justin Holl. If he's wearing number 3, then he's got to act like the number 3 who was captain last time of this team. (Hitting, Defending a bit better, and get some shots on goal)
Without Sandin, Marner, and Spezza, the leafs are pretty squishy on Defense And they are sorely missing Marner for the break outs and offensive zone entry like WOW
The answer is trade Holl. End of discussion. Muzzin play with Sandin when he is healthy, Brodie and Reilly is always amazing 1st pair, and play Dermott with Liligren. Best part is you can always mix these guys up to find the best chemistry. If we can somehow get a right hand shot D in a trade for Holl, it must be done. Guy has gotta go, he’s a liability every single time he is on the ice. Anyone agree?
Scapegoating Holl in my opinion. Muzzin has been brutal too. The whole team has lost their defensive structure. I'm fine with moving on from any one of these d-men for an upgrade.
You could be right about Hall, but he knows at any time he could be gone, and he is just a young guy. To me they put up with players that wasn't as good as him for years, & gave good players away for nothing. Give him 2 years and you will want him on the team, like many others the Leafs let go.He has a rocket of a shot, and don't mind pushing back. He is a good size and getting stronger. I think he is playing good under pressure as a kid in Toronto, and will only get better. He must hear the noise about a trade, and I'm sure that isn't easy on him. I hope they stay with him, I am looking at his talent and potential of who he will be. There is only 1 Austin Matthews, and he showed that in game 1
For the most part, I agree but on the point of being a Sandin and Dermot injury away from being one of the worst defensive teams, it should at least be acknowledged that Marner is one of their best defensive forwards and Spezza is their best faceoff man which is underratedly important for limiting chances against. That doesn't even account for Mikheyev who is great defensively as well. So, they should be better but the impact that the forwards have on team defence shouldn't be ignored.
JD Mayo, i have often pondered myself, about this...🤔 maybe Steve's man-cave is sound-proofed. Or maybe Mrs. Dangle has some state-of-the-art new earplugs. OMG. And that sweet baby...😱 Love you Steven!
We're down Sandin, Spezza, Marner, Dermott who has outplayed Holl, two rookies in their third games, and a goalie playing his first game in months The Lightning, the team we're talking about being worried about, lost 4-0 to Ottawa. They're also hurt, and it was a back to back away, but we wouldn't give the Leafs that excuse
@isthatyoubetha It's one game a week after coming off the best month in the NHL and the history of the Leafs. And again, we wouldn't give the Leafs the excuse you just gave the Lightning. The Leafs still scored 5, and won the game. Wasn't pretty, wasn't perfect, there are always things to work on. But given the circumstances, a win is a win Also yeah lol winning a cup a year and a half ago is probably the reason the Lightning lost yesterday
This is actually funny! I seem to remember a whole bunch of people screaming that Marner should have been traded for some used water bottles, for months after the first round debacle!!!!! Marner is out, we're struggling...says it all!!!
Honestly this week has been bad but it seems simple to me. We have to make a move on a better defender with Muzz. Muzz hasn’t been great either but Holl has been absolutely atrocious. Jake will at least but ppl on their ass where Holl is big for nothing as steve says. Idk who they gotta trade or who they will trade for but it’s gotta happen.
Holl played the first goal completely wrong. He LOOKED over and saw the backchecker on the back door Hawks player, so he should have stepped up on Toews. I usually go oh well i have a birds eye view, but for crying out loud he looked over right at the Hawks player being covered and was all I'm gonna give Captain Serious a free shot on a goalie just back from an injury.
Agreed how many times out of 10 Is times gonna miss from the freaking hash marks against just the goalie I'm gonna say once because he missed the net not cause the goalie scored it that goal reminded me of the warm up drills they do before the game
I think this is the first game where neither fanbase was happy after it ended. Like at all. Both halves of my fandom hated this game, the lesser half won out. Ugh
As a hawks fan, I really wish we at least got a point, but im happy with how the team has rebounded from a disaster start to the season. That being said... TEND. THE. GOAL.
As a Chicago Blackhawks fan I consider this episode a therapy session for the both of us. I believe after that kind of a come back, one on which I was about to check out in the second because “yeah right”, turned into a real shot at 1 point. But of course not! WHY WOULD IT BE a point when you can instead throw away the effort to watch a puck hit the glass and land right in front of the net so the former player you should have never dealt can beat on you yet again!!! This team, Chicago, was supposed to be good. Or at the very least improved. They certainly don’t have any cap space left so one might think the investments were somewhat wise. Right? BUT NO! Not even one point.
At least we've been competitive for about a month now. 9-6-0 under the new coach. It's clear we lack the fwd depth (the guys have the effort but not enough skill) and we could use another solid dman but without cap space and a 1st were in a terrible position.
The way I look at it, we're missing our best defensive forward and two of our best young defenseman. Those aren't just random depth players missing. That's different from Kase, or Kampf, or even someone like Kerfoot being injured. Those are major injuries. The defense was gonna fall but when we've had those players in the lineup, we've shown we are a great defensive team. During this time, as long as we keep cumulating points, it's alright. Don't get me wrong, I still have no faith they will win in a round, but a dip in play with those big injuries is to be expected for right now
@@Oldmanflyfishing no I'm not excusing blowing leads and the defensive lapses that have happened over the past 4 games but I'm being realistic. Big injuries like that really affect the game. I'm a die hard raptors fan as well and they've been decimated with injuries this year. I still get on their ass when the play poorly but I also have to remind myself that playing with 3 guys out consistently is challenging. Yeah it's more challenging in basketball than hockey but I feel the point still stands
@isthatyoubetha okay but Tampa is also back to back cup champs. They've won for a reason. And regardless, that doesn't null the fact that Marner, Dermott, and Sandin are incredibly important and good players for the leafs in terms of defense. Tampa didnt win the cup while missing a star player PLUS two everyday defenseman. Most of the mistakes are results of Justin Holl anyways let's be real. It's not like the whole team has been bad.
I felt better after Keefe talked about Holl after the game. I was screaming at Holl like Steve. NOOOOOOOOOO, stay with your man!" PS: you are right about MM. He is great 5v5. But maybe he should play 2nd PP with Sandin and Spezza. Make it even more dangerous.
The worst part, is Holl did the exact same play last game against Tampa that lead to a Tampa goal, he let a guy by, made it 2 on 1, Muzzin went for the guy on the right, and Holl on the back check also went for the guy on the right leaving the guy on the left in a perfect goal scoring sport, which surprise surprise, lead to a goal
You can blame Rubins on the 3rd goal but can we talk about how Holl was on the Ice for at least 3 of the goals and on each of those goals he was covering No one. Absolutely no one. I mean Muzzin was in for 2. Why are we paying $7.665 mil for 2 guys combining for a -5.
Your only 15 years into the 54 years and going that your team has won a silver cup, oh wait that's wrong the Raptors won a 🏆 the Blue Jay's have won 🏆 🏆 the Marlies have won a 🏆 🏆 and the Rock have won many 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 my question is what is desperately wrong with the Leafs not winning a championship trophy
lol hey they figured out how to win the game at least. these teams are all really good and can win on any night. Good win and at least they capitalized on the bounce.
Kids must love this guy, he is better than the three teams in toronto, by himself...I feel like I am watching a very talented guy who broke out of a mental institution... His squeals and shrieks are just completely addicting to listen to. This guy has so many personalities, he would freak out a shrink..
I think this video might actually challenge the trend that Steve gets way more views when the Leafs lose. I am definitely one of those people who has rewatched the Zamboni driver video a hundred times, but THIS. THIS is what I'm here to see, win or lose.
I understand the frustration of blowing a 3-goal lead but what we're forgetting here is that the other team is also an NHL team made up of professional hockey players who won't simply lay down & take the loss without a fight. But having said that, the Leafs seem to be the only team who keeps letting their opponents back in the game like that 😂
@@Oldmanflyfishing true but hes great on pk and only really been used on line 3.i think he has potential.and he may be he fastest skater in the league..they have been using him wrong,if you check out his highlights from russia he can be a good piece
@@supercoupe he’s had his chances on the top two lines, he can’t score. I love some Russian soup too but he’s been out most of the season, we don’t need him
@@Oldmanflyfishing true we dont need him.but i think should be on one of the top 2 lines ,he hasnt had much time there,he scored lots in russia ,id like them to bring ho sang up also...
It's marner being out that is the problem, not being on the bench, great at takeaways, great penalty killer(except when he's throwing pucks over the glass) he's a big part of the team defensively and just as a teammate to get guys going. The boys miss Mitch.
Leafs looked ok in the first and second periods, but my lord they just stopped playing in the third. Once again we see just poor defensive play all around , lots of turnovers , sketchy goal tending at times, they're lucky they got a point out of this game honestly, hawks were pushing real hard in the 3rd and leafs were just done.
@@QRM00 To be fair, thats shot effects and youre gonna see the opposite team come back with a lot of shots when theyre down that much, that early. It was a bad idea for the Leafs to sit back with the lead and try to play a shut down game when the team is a bit crippled there, and Mrazek isn't as proven as Campbell. Im hoping they take a more Avs route where they dont stop the offense.
Fun fact. We don’t blow more leads than other teams (are actually middle of the pack over last five years blowing 3+ blown goal leads) and actually when it happens we win a fair few. We are just so so scarred from those Boston games that we can never look at a game like this in a positive way
@@optimusry19legalgarden38 yup and therein lies the trauma and why we can never view a win like this as “fighting it out for the win”. We have to win in the playoffs for any of it to matter and until it does, we just see this as a potential playoff result that will leave us feeling more pain
@@ericwilliams1845 can't agree more I was out and watching the game I left to drive home at 4 to 1 and I left saying this game is exactly like the 2 day game ago in Columbus I left telling everyone this game is gonna end up 5 to 4 and we will be lucky to win everyone else is like no way it's in the bag. Man I have watched this team for to long you can see it happening and they just can't stop it I have never came across another team that has had this problem as bad as the leafs(leafs fan for 30 years) and I watch a lot of other NHL teams because if my love of hockey
Tampa Bay lost 4-0 to the Ottawa Senators. Do you think Florida Man Steve Dangle is reacting to that game saying Tampa is really good but not good enough?
Have been saying this for years because I have seen this kid play in London. Marner is the key guy for this team. I rather have him over Matthews if it ever came down to one or the other. Look how the team plays when Matthews is injured and Mitchy runs the team, they play above. 650 winning %. Everytime Mitch is gone the team plays sub. 500% Mitch is there number one two way player enough said. As for the defence, there needs to be improvements fast or this team is gone 1st round again. There is no way in hell they are beating Tampa or the panthers in a 7 game series.
I took a break from the Leafs as my medical doctor told me to cut anything or anyone who gives me undo stress. Voila, I feel much better! I want them to do well, but I will do so at a distance! IE scoreboard watch, and highlights.
I don't think they blew the lead this time Chicago battled hard and mrazek seemed rusty at spots and Chicago screened him so well so I think this was less blowing a lead and more old habits die hard! Toronto sitting a lead thinking they can ride it to a win!
The leafs are, at least, not loosing as much when they blow a big lead.... Can we call that a step in the process ? Any coach will tell you, a three goal lead in hockey is a kiss of death... the leafs issue is; they get those leads with way too much time left in the game...
That time of year. The weather's miserable. Everything's wet. It's always wet. And it's cold and wet. 15:17 Not warm enough to do anything worth doing.
