I've been to about 40 games in my life and this was the craziest thing I've ever seen. We were down 7-2 and we Made it 7-8. At the end the leaf fans were miserable. They all expected to lose, hell i expected them to lose. I introduced my friend to hockey tonight and I couldn't have picked a better one. LGRW Leafs are good too!
You know when you turn the difficulty down in NHL21 and nearly every shot goes in? That's what this game was....especially that third. And Marner is on another level since his return from injury/covid!!
To be fair to Mrazek, he sat for 2 hours then he had to go into a game where the wings were gunning to tie it. He made some nice saves on the penalty kill after Kase scored
I actually think by eye test that Mrazek was the best goalie in this game, although that's not a high bar. Also it may be a bit of recency bias since Campbell mostly did do really well until the 3rd (dang-it aside)
Now that I'm in BC, I have the luxury of not waiting for the morning. So right before bed I either get to laugh along with Steve after a win, or feel better after listening to him after a loss.

I remember looking after the game knowing that Tavares didn't have a goal thinking "right but on 10 goals he at least put up some points".... wrong! 10 goal night and he had 0 points. Then I said "wouldn't it be funny if Lyubushkin had a point"... sure enough he did.
Tbh people have been too hard on JT and I'm getting a little Larry Murphy scapegoat vibe from it. Dude is clearly playing through an illness, I've watched him enough to know this isn't how he normally looks out there. Also 48 points in 51 games. He's fine. When he's healthy again he'll be fine.
It's unfortunate that the gong show tonight overshadowed a chance to talk about what a great game Nick Robertson had. Lots of great looks, physical, and a real factor on that 4th line.
Some vibes of that game where Ottawa had the flu and were just stomping the Leafs through 2 periods but by the 3rd they had like 2 defenseman and 4 forwards on the bench
I was at bowling league and keeping an eye on the game. When I left the bowling alley it was 7-2 for the Leafs. When I got home I turned the game on and somehow thought that my body had warped back to 2009 because it said 8-7. Have you ever watched the series Dead Like Me? That look that George has as that toilet seat is falling out of the sky straight at her and the last thing she says before it just turns her body into applesauce she just blankly stares at it and says "oh F@#K". That's what it's like to be a Leafs fan.

Mrazek is a bad contract (Thanks Dubas), Campbell is not. You're not trading your coal for other people's diamonds. (And oh btw, other teams are prospecting as well). Marner has been on fire since the 15th of January. (There was a six game stretch where he averaged two points a game). Mathews, bad mustache (pr0n stache)and all, is untradable. Nylander is too much value. That leaves one player (who they will not trade because Dubas overvalues his own guys), who is severely underperforming relative to contract. Back to Campbell, he's either gone, or the Leafs are paying 6 million plus a year. (He will get that on the open market). Reilly counts 8 mil towards the cap next year, Muzzin five million. Add that up and you get 56 million for seven players. This Leaf's team, as currently "built" isn't hoisting the Stanley Cup. Oh, they'll win a lot of regular season games 5-4 (and 10-7), but they'll lose come playoff time. The Sword of Damocles. "Doomed". Dangle called it back in December. This team isn't winning against TB or Florida. /shrugs. Dubas will make some minor changes and run the "Core-4" back next year with a couple of additions. Insanity
AGAIN, you can't win a playoff series with these 2 goalies. It's Marc Andre Fleury, or just pack it in and go golfing now. That 3rd period was the worst goaltending exhibition I have ever seen. You could have put cardboard cutouts of goalies in the net and they would have stopped more shots.

Starting goalies not in the playoffs right now: Sorokin/Varlamov Matt Murray Jake Allen Connor Helleybuck MAF Reimer I don’t see any of those as possible moves except maybe Reimer. And I don’t see Reimer as an upgrade he is at best a lateral move.

Where to even start, I’ve never seen the Leafs score 10 goals or even all 4 goalies play. It looked like I was watching a chel game with some of those goals. I thought the 8-6 game against Carolina was crazy but this blew that out of the water. I’m concerned about our goaltending but right now I’m just enjoying the win.
I’ve been trying to say this for like the past month Jack hasn’t had a good game in a month I just don’t think he’s ready to be a starter he got too big of a work load and Peter is has been awful all year.

I looked down at my phone after waking up from a nap and saw the score was 7-2. Felt good. My gf who knows better says that lead isn’t safe. I laughed and brushed it off but cried internally cause I knew she was right 😭
I have said for several years, no lead is safe with the Leafs on the ice. Until the number of minutes is lower than the number of goals to tie it (assuming the goal number is more than 2), the lead is not safe. It doesn't even matter who's lead it is, it's just straight up not safe.
To be honest, becasue Tampa and Florida are so good, I think you need to be greedy at the trade deadline and just hope Jack pulls it together, because if he does, it will be the best use of their cap space. If you replace the goalie, you might not have enough defense or fire power to keep up.

Leafs suffer food poisoning. Somehow, losing 7-0 would've been better. People would've had sympathy. They heroically score 10, but get vilified. The most leaf thing ever.
We do NOT need JT miller. We have Nylander, Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Kase, kerfoot, Bunting. We need Defence…Not another forward. Unless we absolutely fleece the Canucks for miller which won’t happen. We acquire a guy like Chychrun or Manson or even a klingberg. We look very solid. It could be a defence who isn’t even a Twitter favourite like a Pysyk.
Jack can play good we have seen that. he just doesn't forget how to play most goalies go from great to bad to great to good to horrible to good. You see goalies all the time get big contracts then suck then find there game again and win best goalie. goaltender are strange sometimes. I think we ride with jack. We could trade for best goalie in the league then they suck for us you see it all the time teams sign a goaltender that was best player in the league the with new team there one of the worst. Jack will find his game well one of the leafs goalies will we know they have it in them.

Get Carey Price and keep him on LTIR until the playoffs. Voila! I'd say the Habs might even keep some of the Cap hit, but they are already paying for 3 head coaches. Care about next season, next season. I am a Habs fan, but I think it's important for hockey that the Leafs win.

If I were Dubas I would do NOTHING at the deadline and put the pressure on the guys you have now. Do they need goaltending help? Yeah Think so. But last year they blew a 1st round pick on Nick Foligno who got 1 assist in the playoffs and bolted after the 1st round exit. I hated that trade when it was made. I hate it more now. Do nothing. No matter what Leafs are looking at a 1st round exit as we cannot beat Florida or Tampa and a trade given the cap issues will not change that.
I stopped watching the game to FaceTime my girlfriend halfway through the 1st period and told her it's okay that i leave cuz we are blowing them out already..... I came back at the start of the third and laughed cuz I knew it was my fault for saying that lol
He was never a starter before...this year is his first try at being a true starter. I think he is somewhere in between how he is playing now and how he was playing then.
