I had my 48" C1 since christmas eve last year. No issues here. Not even any burn in even though I have OLED brightness set to 100. just make sure to have "screen move" feature on in the OLED panel care menu. i love the TV so much!!! no regrets!
@AKR for me yes, I've set the "peak brightness" setting to high. Still loving this beast of a tv. Especially when gaming on PS5. I think Lg updated it a lot since my last comment here.
@AKR yes. Since your getting the c2, the brightness is a little more brighter than my c1. As long the room you are watching movies on is dark, youll have no problem. Also you'll need to calibrate the settings to maximize the brightness feature once you get the tv. It'll take lots of tweaks to get your "perfect" settings.
Yes. Stunning TV. I'll wait for the C3 or whatever LG decides. Bought the C1 last year and it definitely does not fail to deliver with PS5 and especially PC gaming. Doesn't make any sense LG releases the same ol stuff yearly instead of every other year. Also, the only difference is the C1 from 2021 and CX from 2020 doesn't come in 42 inches. C1 is basically 50 inches in a 48 inch chassis.
48 is not redundant it’s perfect for where my tv is in an alcove that can only take maximum 50 if I had a bigger one on the wall the light would reflect too much.
Great review man! Got the 55 inch C1 last week as it was on offer in John Lewis and certainly don't regret my choice. Also, I chuckled at the same time with the way you finished your race. Anyway, enjoy your reviews - keep it up!
Happy to hear about the pre-calibration results. The C1 caught a ton of flack for poor pre-cal settings. If I'm spending an extra $500 it's going to be on a better model or bigger size TV, not a pro calibration. I think most people feel that way that aren't in the .5% of people all-in on this stuff. Glad to hear I can just go for the C2 and be good enough.
I know I'm a bit late, but I asked this TV for Christmas and my birthday. Can't wait to receive it. 55" was to big for my TV stand and my place. 48" seemed to the perfect choice to replace my 50" Samsung Full HD. Granted the C2 48" is just a little better version of the C1, but I hope it'll be a great choice. In fact I didn't choose the TV myself ^^
I cannot wait to get my C2. First upgrade in 12 years. I'm coming from a 48 inch Sony 1080p TV. This will be awesome once it arrives. I think they ship Monday, the 28th of March.
Ended up getting the C2 after much debating but a 42 inch model was just made so much more sense for me, hands down no other TV has even come close to the look of this
@@Roadwarrior92 yes still exceeds my expectations however I have one singular dead pixel which isn't noticeable unless I'm directly Infront of it while the screen is bright. Used it loads and no burn it at all though.
@@ConnorrHoNkCan't you return it when you have dead pixels? I've heard many people say that that's the case. You should look into it so that maybe you could receive a new model :)
@@kime5776 quite possibly if you have it insured or during the manufacturers warranty but I've had mine too long now plus It really doesn't bother me that much still only that one dead pixel and no burn in at all
Thank you for the review.. I sold my 48 C1 and 65 C1 and I've just received my new 48 C2 for my gaming/entertainment room and I will also be purchasing the 65 C2 for my living room.. After doing my test, I would 100% agree with you that there's no major differences between the 48 C1 vs 48 C2 ✔️
In my case, I have an older u7300 43" LED TV that's 5 or six years old. It's still working fine. I am looking at the C2 as an upgrade. I'm in a low-income affordable housing unit. The bachelor apartment is about 450 sq ft total. So, I can't go too big or else it will take up too much space. The other factor I like about C2 is they have significantly reduced weight. Given that these units were built to council house standard and have aluminum structures I have been hesitant to try, and wall mount my existing TV. But the C2 with its lower weight might be an option for this. So 48 might be a good fit for my needs and the needs of some of your other viewers and a nice step up for my room environment without going too big. I and others like me might be where this 48" is aimed at not people moving from a C2 which is something you might want to consider in future reviews.😊😊
I dont know whether Im going to get a C1 or a C2, but the 48" is definitely not redundant as a size. I cant accomodate a 55" as a bedroom and gaming TV, but sit too far from it for a 42" to be optimal. Any thoughts on how long the C1 will be sold alongside the C2?
I had a 55inch b6 bit too big and now its sadly burned out lol 2016 OK I bought it around 2017 before they bought out the 2017 model had it for 4 years before burn in started to happen or it was less apparent
If you have bought a C1 from John Lewis in the last 28 days then make sure you do a never knowingly undersold claim. Richer Sounds is offering to 48" for £850 and the 55" for £940. I paid £999 at JL but they matched the price today so got £150.30 refunded. So C1 48" cost me £850. I was so lucky I noted it as was on day 28.
and the 48" c1 is not even in stock anymore, so the c2 replaced it. 55" is mad large and 42" is too small I doubt anyone would wonna buy that size. 48" is perfect size
@@Chief81 yea, idk but I’ve been hearing the c1 is more picture accurate compared to the c2. But yea there’s no more in that size, so I guess c2 it is. But I’m annoyed that they didn’t give the 48” the new body like the 55” has.
@@Chief81 I bought other lower end TVs and returned them, tryin to find a good one that time. Then I went the Oled route and bought a Sony Oled. You just made me a happy man! This is why. I got the LG 55” C1 OLED 📺 early this month in March. I haven’t open it yet because I’m waiting to move in August and then I will open it. I seen the new LG 55” C2 OLED 📺 on Amazon. My Amazon 💳 credit limit wasn’t enough to get that C2. I was going to send back that C1 if I was approved for that C2. Now you’re saying the C1 is better than the C2. I’m a happy man and glad that I didn’t trade my C1 for that C2. I’ve subscribed and hit the like button. Thank you for the great video! Stay safe
Im a owner of the 48inch C2 and im am very happy with it I bought it for my room where a 42 would had been to small for gaming and movies but a 55inch would had been to big and would had been to bright and create more eye strain so please keep that in mind cause even watching at night I change the picture setting to Dark room also keep in mind the 42inch was using the old WBC panel which isnt just about brightness but the main features that really matter is 1.Burn in resistant's 2. longer life which you get with a WBE panel on the 48inch C2.
do u think that if a casual user that sometimes keep the tv turned off for a week would have problem with deadpixels? I just sold my five years old QLED Samsung TV and was perfect with my usage. I'm afraid to go to OLED and have to baby-sit it
No i dont think you would have any problems with dead pixels with prolong shut down these new TV'S have such great technology that every time that you turn off the LG C2 it take a few minutes to check the panel for any and all problems so shutting it off and leaving it off is a good thing just make sure you leave it plugged in or it wont be able to do its panel check.

Given that LG confirmed 42 et 48 sizes of C2 will miss the brightness boost of 20% available from the 55 sizes compared to C1, so you're wrong by saying they'll be only "slightly dimmer." at 2:20.

I purchased the 48" C1 about a month ago as a monitor for my gaming PC and I love it!!! I am glad I didn't wait for the C2 as I would have gone with the 42" but now that I have used the 48" I will never go smaller. I have moved both my PS5 and Switch dock from the TV room to my C1, so I am in gaming Nirvana. My PC gaming experience is now like the console experience but with better graphics and performance. I use a large harvest table as my desk so I have plenty of room for the 48" panel...plus my C1 has the EVO panel so it should increase it's longevity over the alternative panel. I wanted a larger screen with 4k and true HDR so the C1 satisfied all my wants. For anyone with a GPU that has 2.1 HDMI, I highly recommend the C1 as a PC monitor.
Congrats mate, welcome to gaming paradise. I have been playing pc games on an OLED since 2016 so i can relate to how awesome is to have a setup like yours!
@@beammeupscottsp7952 I switched from a MSI MAG274QRF-QD 27" monitor to the C1, so for me it was a huge leap in size. I have only been PC gaming for just under a year now, and I always felt I was compromising with the smaller monitor...now I finally feel fully satisfied PC gaming.

ATT, what I want to know and others will agree here is, have they let you push the peak brightness to "high" under game mode? this is going to be a huge deciding factor for some
I'm wondering if I'm better off just getting the 48 inch over the 42 inch, It's only a $100 more for the 48 inch, but at that point I might as well just get a C1 for a lot less money.
Is it bright enough? I mean it's 48 inch... I compared the 48 and the 55 version in the shop so i couldn't see if it's bright enough only that the 48 inch version has better image quality. Maeby cuz of the pixel density. And 1 more question is it true the smaller models like the 42 and 48 inch are more likely to get burn in because of the heat dissipation.
LG has said the 48 and 42 doesn't make any real use of the EVO panel. They are too small and pixels space is tight. The processing is there, but with out that extra brightness it might not be as evident either.. I think the 48 inch become kind of useless now with 42 inch. It's just there in an awkward middle. Why not go 55" if you have it in a room for movies and TV shows. And why not go 42" for PC and small room. This likely explains why 42" almost cost the same. For bigger difference from C1 go 55 and 65" even more so.
Have just picked this up, for £799, amazing compared to launch price. Already own a 55inch CX and a 55inch Samsung S95B. The LG OS is so much better than Tizen
Unless new meaningful technology advances there’s no need to change your tv every 1-2 years. I think > 5 years more like it Will keep my B9 2019 for a while longer. Still a beautiful picture and I watch my TV mostly at evenings/nights
That pedestal stand is the best stand i have ever seen on a TV Other than samsung’s stand LG’s C series stand is really something special imo Its a shame they reduced it to more conventional stand like the q90 series on samsung side And other models have those boring side feets that almost all TVs have Never liked them Looking for a new TV this year and there are quite big option so far

I want to point out 2 things that i learned from certified ISF calibrators. The black Crush is normal on any brand new Oled panel. They need a few hundreds hours to settle to reveal more shadow details. The more important point: if you only use a colorimeter without a spectro they always will report too much red in the readings with woled (wrgb) screen. The colorimeters have calibration variances up to 3 Delta E between them. You can offset it by a bit by using the wrgb oled EDR offset in calman in the meter menu. Not the rgb oled its not for these tv its for non white pixel oled using rgb only like a smartphone. I hope this help you and people here. Also because of the wrong meter reading wrgb oled have a tendency to look more green after a d65 calibration without having the colorimeter profile from a spectro. Its needs to be profiled from this specific screen at a Time due to panel variance. Cheers i love your room!
Regarding Picture in Picture, I've gotten it to work on my LG C1 (UAE), but only in specific modes. I was extending my Mac screen using Airplay (in the small window), and having a HDMI input source (Android TV box) as the main input. It doesn't work with console - tried opening Xbox instead of android tv box and it took me out of PIP. How to: 1. Start the screen sharing via Macbook. 2. Click the Blue button on the remote 3. Change HDMI source to input from external source (not gaming console). Hope this helps!
Just ordered a C1 48. I game and use as a monitor so im hoping the sub pixel layout doesnt effect my text too much. Currently running TCL S421 which has no sub pixel and works well as a monitor. I was on the fence vs TCL 646 as it seemed to have far less black crush and better white as the VA panels get better the blue in whites of my S6 tablet and A52 5G phone shows up more, factor in mini led brightness with lack of crush and HDR may have some advantage. In the end I decided the OLED response time would be better for gaming on PC and Series X.
Totally agree, why didn't they stick with new design. Especially it's a smaller TV. Was sold on it. Definitely not anymore! (got the 48C1 last year) was hoping a newer design.
Hey! How have you found it after a couple of months? I am upgrading from a very old 40 inch 1080p to display 😊. This feels like a good size to me but how have you found it?
@david the TV is awesome bro and I think it's even cheaper now too! I have it mainly for my PS5, it's sooo crisp with all the settings, VRR, 120hz etc. the TV really pops! Also I watched the Qatar World Cup in UHD and it was just so damn beautiful, even my wife who never compliments anything Tech related thought it was amazing so that really says something! If you got the money or you're reluctant, I'd really go for it, you won't be disappointed and the new one will get released soon and will be more expensive, the C2 will likely get discontinued. Let me know how you get on 👌🏻
@@Gattsu1986 thank you so much for your take on it! i picked it up earlier today and am so incredibly happy with it. switching from a backlit LCD to an OLED was perhaps one of the biggest noticeable changes for me, but the quality of the picture and the size is a noticeable but perfect upgrade for my room. watched a few movies after calibrating the settings :) and it was fantastic
Vincent from HDTVTest mentioned that BFI was removed when playing at 120Hz. So you might want to wait until the Sony specs come out if this is important to you.
I hope my goal to make this quick pans out... I have the 48" C1. I stream 4K off if Xbox Series X and upgraded my UHD BD player to the Panasonic DPUB-9000. If I had a concern its that as your 48" C2 review stated the OLED panel ..pixels size of.. will not perform as the new C2 55" and above. I installed the C1 48" and found it darker (faces of characters facing the canera) than I wished and I love inky blacks (Test : opening scene of Pitch Black or Avatar ) and not as big of WOW factor when I bought the LG OLED E6, which really taught me about High Dynamic Range, But with the right adjustments and viewing distance was I blown away with the detail and color of UHD Star Wars The Last Jedi from the 4K Bluray Disk on the Panasonic 9000. Pixel density, and sze matters when choosing viewing distance. Do you think you could explain how these apply to new brighter C2 55", 65" or 77" or more and the new chip/ECO Panlel. Hi, great video! Just a quick one: Have you ever experienced temporal image retention due to the HUD in most games? I am thinking about buying my first OLED and worried about that. My gaming sessions are between 2 and 5 hours, normally. Thanks!
Hey there, I have a Sony A8G OLED, I have the Best Buy burn in 5 year warranty so I throw everything on my TV under the sun. I’ve only had image retention like 1 or twice. I have the Apple TV so it goes into screen saver mode within minutes after activity. As long as your mixing up your usage burn in is like a thing of a past very difficult now they the newer tvs implement such features to keep burn in away!
I have a C1 to match with my PS5 and TV box for 6 months. Apart of everything awesome, the only drawback which frustrate me is the brightness of the TV, it is TOTALLY unusable in day time if you play games like Resident Evil and watch movies with a lot of dark scenes like Batman.
I upgrade every year, and every year I'm blown away by the next model. The C1 blow the CX out of the water, the CX destroyed the C9..... see where I'm going here?
What is the height from the bottom of stand to the actual picture on the display past the black bezel border. Have a soundbar which is 2.5 inches in height. Need to see it will block any of the picture past the black bezel border.
@@allthingstech I upgrade from the C9 to the C1 in your review you mentioned the extra detail you get on the C2 over the C1 I noticed this in the C1 downside being it highlights poor quality content more showing more grain
I believe that the LG C1 does upscale comparable to Sony's televisions, but then again, some people may not think so. You have to be sure to turn the upscaling feature on under the general settings menu. The Sony has their processing on by default, but the LG does not depending on the mode. While Sony has been known for their upscaling capabilities, most of it is hype. When it comes to anything being output at 4k, people will say the same thing, but there will be more discussions about color and accuracy at that point. From my perspective, the C1 handles 4k content better than Sony televisions, but Sony may be slightly better at upscaling overall. The difference between the A80J and the C1 with the setting turned on are too small for any real difference to be noticed to me. In the end, they both handle both very well.
Sounds like your initial excitement for the 48” C2 was a bit premature. Maybe I should return my 48” C2, Still boxed, and order the same size C1 instead and save a bit of money.
I still really like it I just think the 55" is better value. If you want 48" then it's not that much of an improvement to warrant the price difference.
@@allthingstech The 48" is for the bedroom. The 55" would fit but maybe just a big too big to look right, and if I went for a 55" I'd most probably look at a QD-OLED as this tech is making a lot of noise for 2022
oh well, I’ve just placed an order for the 48” C1 from John Lewis for £899 so now I have both. Obviously, one will go back but for a saving of £500 for the C1 the C2 would have to be something special and all indications so far, its not.

Have a 55 C9 at the moment, but thinking of upgrading to either c 2 or Sony a90j.. motion handling not great on my c9 so thinking of moving over to Sony.
C2 should be able to reach higher FPS but I didn't check it properly. Also, the 42'' size (or even 43 if it exists) is suitable for getting a "cinema size without moving your neck" experience in a ~90cm deep desk (you need a desk this deep, so you can reach Retina separating your eyes to the screen 84cm or just to separate yourself even more from the screen if you want less screen getting into your pheripherical vision) whereas the 48'' C1 is too big even for a big desk.
I'm Lg fan I want to upgrade from a Lg C1 55" to a Lg C2 65" but not sure if it's really worth it, I been thinking the new Sonys that they are coming out this year
I don’t want to pull the trigger on a c1 or a c2 until I am able to see how the 55 and bigger stacks up to the c1. Looking forward to when you can do that. Any idea on when you will be receiving the 55 c2? Thanks for the review!
Just buy the C1, period. Edit: Sony upscaling is not better than what the C1 offers, and anyone willing to sell their televisions every year just to get the newer models is stupid and insane. Unless you are reviewing it, then you really have no good reason to upgrade. Of course, this mostly has to do with people and their vices to have the latest and greatest. I actually have OCD, and I do not struggle this much with having to have everything. Also, anyone saying that the C2 has "more detail" than the C1 is insane. Every side by side comparison I have seen shows the C1 looking better than the C2 when it comes to sharpness in 4k. The reason for this is the brightness being the preliminary factor this year. It is not like I am saying much, but I think that 4k content on a 4k screen is more important, but sure, trying to make everything look as 4k as possible helps, but that will never truly happen. If you can afford a C1 or C2, then you can afford higher quality channels that will actually make a difference, but I see no use for lower-quality broadcast anyway, at least in my personal opinion and for my personal use ( I can understand wanting to save money, but why at this point). If the C2 looks at all sharper, then it is only on content that is 720p or lower; they use temporal methods. Even then PPI and other factors can come into play, so none of this is actually conclusive. If you are using a console that is outputting at 4k, even if a game or Blu-ray is not native to 4k, you will not see a difference whatsoever, as the television is not doing any sort of upscaling from there. The problem is that the C2 may actually look worse, because it seems like their native 4k processing has taken a small dive. Also to mention: brightness makes no difference between sizes. All C1s, no matter the size, will have the same brightness, even if the measured nits on smaller models may be slightly lower. The only thing that would make a difference here is panel variance, as the 48 inch WBC panel I have pushes the claimed brightness of the 65" version. The difference is 20 nits between a 48 inch C1 and a 65 inch C1, but the 48 inch model can still push 840-850 nits in vivid mode. The smaller the pixel, the less measured brightness you need for the same luminosity. The pixel aperture ratio and PPI allow the image to be more refined and sharper on a smaller model as the pixels are smaller no matter how far you sit from the screen. The detail should be all the same, as the processing should be exactly the same. In this comparison, the C1 looked much brighter in many of the shots, but this could the camera, off angle focus, and the C2 still burning in it's pixels through use. This barely makes a difference, but LG continues to claim at least a 20 percent increase in brightness behind their larger models. This is another farce, but they marketing they claimed to begin with was a 30 percent increase; the only place I see this is in their largest G2 model. The smaller C2 model shown here is only pushing G1 levels of brightness at most. The C1 is already bright enough, and image processing is more important to me, and honestly, I prefer the colors and contrast I see on the C1 better. The C1 is not only cheaper, but it seems that you get the better image-processing and overall image quality. To my eye, the C1 looked better in terms of contrast, detail, motion, and sharpness, so I rest my point.
Regarding the "Always ready" feature, is it only limited to the TV itself? As in, if I connect the tv to the Google Assistant, can I use that to turn the TV on or off?
Are you happy with the new LG C2 or was the C1 just as good? Incremental upgrades are just a way to charge more money for almost the same TV basically.
It is better because of the current price, and it is better because it appears to look better in 4k. The image appears sharper and more detailed on the C1, while the C2 is more about adding a slight brightness and color volume boost. While the upscaling may overall be about 5 percent better, this does not translate to content being output at a native 4k resolution. This is my opinion, but it really depends on your priorities and what matters more to you. At this point, we are going beyond what a traditional OLED is, and it seems to be more gimmicky that a real marked improvement.
LG Account is separate from Google / Facebook/ Apple account hosting, cos it’s limited to LG diagnostics, it should be an additional feature for WebOS an option to use, it then again you don’t want The Four companies spying on what you are watching and then again your email that is logged onto Netflix and Google RU-vid does it freely. I’m looking forward to the 55inch, enjoy your weekend mate.
