You should all realize... unless you just like doing a bunch of work for nothing... Stick your head inside the dryer, remove the filter mount and the moisture sensor. Unplug it. Remove, replace and you are done. I'm not sure who made this video but they get paid by the hour I am certain!

Completely agree with you. I did this myself without dissembling the entire machine. It takes 20 minutes or less when you unplug and stick your head inside the dryer to remove the filter amount. I would not try this method if I was to be a larger person.

Yep, three screws holding the grill cover, two screws holding the sensor assembly, then unplug and remove. Absolutely no need to remove the entire door.

I did this in less than 10 minutes!! 4 screws, 2 wires, replaced and cleaned and WALLAH! YOU DON'T NEED TO TAKE APART THE WHOLE FRONT END, just the gray lint grate. Shop vac the extra lint you now can get to! 😉

Good video, but why did you only replace one of the two moisture sensors?

so much faster and easier to just open the door remove 4 screws and your home. but there's always more ways i like this one because you can clean everything thoroughly.

Good Lord! This is a job you need a small woman to do! Why on earth would you nearly completely disassemble the entire dryer to do a job that taking out 4 screws could have done in 10 minutes! OMG! Crazy!
@repairclinic

That's why we didn't do it that way. Unless you are small, that method is extremely difficult.

Not at all difficult. While inside the drum, you have places to rest your flashlight also.

Taking the dryer apart makes sense to clean out all the lint that can’t be reached, but yeah, not necessary for this sensor.

I have a Maytag Intellidry Dryer (model LDE8606ACE). It recently has stopped automatically shutting off during the Intellidry setting. It drys, but won't shut off. It works on the timed setting, just not the Intellidry setting. Is it a bad moisture sensor? If so, where is it located and how do I change it? (I'm pretty handy, don't be scared.)

If the moisture sensors are bad can it cause the dryer not to heat?

Is there a picture of how and which way the connections are connected to the metal prongs on the humidity sensor? I'm having issues getting them connected. I took my lint thing apart to clean it out. A picture would be fantastic of a closeup of the connections please anyone! Thank you!

Would a faulty moisture sensor cause the dryer to prematurely switch to cooling mode? I turn on the unit, it dries for about 5 minutes, beeps several times, then switches to cooling mode.

squirrel1179 There isn't a test, but they can be inspected to see if one of the sensor bars are damaged or missing.

I started researching because what should have been a 50 minute long dry time stopped in 10 minutes or so. I started the load again and watched the time jump from 48 min to to 19 then to 5 in less than 5 minutes.

Brand new whirlpool dryer. Sensor shuts off machine. Outside of bedding is dry, the padding inside still wet. So I duct tape aluminum foil to the sensor bar. Will I break my machine with foil duct taped to the sensor bar? I really don't like this sensor bar. I don't use high heat and I time my stuff perfectly (sometimes I time it bad and slight dampness... in which case another 10 minutes solves the problem). My machine keeps blinking sensing instead of wet. Is there a way to trick it to wet instead of always sensing?

Make sure all the screws are tight, and lined up with the holes. Don't strip them.

If i have replaced my Heating element and my dryer is still not drying clothes fully (Humidity kind of effect) could this sensor be the cause?
@repairclinic
@repairclinic 9 лет назад
***** Probably not. Normally the problem with a dryer taking too long to dry has to do with poor air flow like a clogged vent or the vent is too long. A thermostat could out of calibration and cutting the heat off prematurely, but we would start with check the air flow.

While this repair can be done without removing the bulkhead, we thought it might be easier for someone with less experience to see what they're doing if it was removed.

what you should have done is tell everyone how delicate the pastic clips are that you connect to the sensor bar. I spent 30 minutes trying to rig this after I cracked the plastic casing trying to make sure the sensor was securely attached to the bar. So the plastic clip broke. I put electrical tape on , replugged everything. Power works . Sensor light comes on. Im ready to throw it in the street.
