LG OLED G4 Xbox Series X VRR issue

My 77” CX has no issues, it’s labeled as a G4 issue…

Any updates?

Set monitor refresh rate to 120 hz in console settings. Vrr then will cap refresh rate lower at 60, but if some frametime spikes occurs then monitor will be able to get above 60hz refresh rate. Had the same problem on AC valhalla with vrr on then switched to 120 hz and no issues.

That’s not the issue, I’ve tried that.

Different hardware and different firmware, I have a CX no issues for years.

List the games you’ve tried because not all games are VRR and even with that some games it’s hard to notice. Also did you update the tv?

You see this on ps5 or xsx? I never saw this on my ps5 on the g4 when i used VRR compatible games and checked info to make sure it was enabled.

@@marcaston924 yes I am. Still no patch to fix it but I am hopeful LG will patch it at some point.

Don’t know but as you can clearly see screen tearing with XSX when VRR enabled and shouldn’t see that. Not sure if it’s a G4 issue in general or my unit.

I have the LG G4 77 and I can confirm this is an issue. I am using a PS5 and there is definitely tearing. No matter what settings I change. It’s a bug that needs to be patched. ASAP.

@@DaFlava_Games yes. I have bad tearing using PS5 on Destiny 2. It has to be a software bug in the TV.

Still an issue for me, my friend gets his g4 next week and has both consoles to check. No one on avsforum has this tv or tested on an xsx yet. Would be great if you could test. I’m on holiday for a while but for now setup a replacement for end of the month.

Hows your G4 so far with XSX? Just got back from holiday so gonna do more tests but still see the issue.

No issues at all, there was a firmware update the day I got it so that was maybe a fix for it. I have used it daily with Xbox series x play warzone in 4k 120 and been perfect. I read same guy having issues when use hdmi 2, if your running your Xbox via an amp through to hdmi that maybe your issue

@@nicholasparry2521 I’ve tested in 120 and 60 multiple hdmi ports and cables. Ive also tested through my marantz amp and directly connected to the tv. So my thoughts are it’s a hardware defect so far. My friend got his finally and talking to him today going through tests he hasn’t seen the issues.

Did you get a fw update? Its always worth doing a factory reset, that can fix most issues on LG oleds.

Not sure what that has to do with all this, it’s not an HDR/DV problem. I’ve tested with both, it’s purely a handshake VRR issue.

@@marcaston2740 i have a replacement coming Monday just to be safe. Also have a friend getting his this weekend he can test.

Thanks for letting me know. If you could provide an update that would be appreciated. Need to exchange if it’s a unit issue. You don’t expect this from a top end TV like this.

Or neither,Get a Sony or Panasonic,They are kings of picture and processing on top of Panasonics superior settings and gaming features now compared.The rest are knockoffs.

Not looking for issues, it’s pretty obvious and clear when I play. I’ve had a CX for 3 years no issue like this.
