Quick Tutorial on How To Fix Your LG Washing Machine with Drying Issues. Issues like damp clothes after dry cycle or being wet. We also cover washing machine maintenance. DHE error, HE eRROR FIX
Paid an LG repairman to tell me after 5 years and now not drying there was nothing wrong. My handyman followed your instructions, and my dryer is fixed. Thank you.
Just had to comment to give another thanks! Was freaking about having to send it in, but this did the trick! I did replace the pressured water with boiled water (so I could do the procedure inside), but it worked out perfectly fine.
Exactly it’s embarrassing. Kudos for the guy showing all this though. Only reason I bought LG is that it was the only one narrow enough to fit, but in 4 years I have almost never used the drying functionality because it’s useless. With the electric prices as well I just dry my clothes in my bathroom and living room instead.
Thank you very much ! this worked really well on our 6 year old machine, we always used many drying cycles to get the job done and we though that it was normal to have damp clothes at the end of the washing+ drying cycles thinking it was our fault rather than the machine dryer being clogged on the inside with lint
Excellent tutorial mate! Let me ask you. At the back of the tank, the machine leaks water because of very tiny perforations made by the water friction from the inside. You might know what I'm talking about. Do you think I could fix that using some kind of plastic weld or something? Cheers!!
Nice video really helps me. We have to dry so much since our little girl was Born. But has anybody an idea where to find the heat fan as a spare part? Ours seem to be defective too
To thoroughly clean the condensate chamber (white chamber under the fan to the bottom rear of the drum). You must remove it and use a long brush. The part has small chambers that are filled with lint. This is unfortunately the lint filter.
I just did this and whilst there was a little bit of lint in the tube, the biggest issue I found was the lint stuck to the fan. Took a little while to clean the fan, but that baby will be blowing much better now.
Great walk-thru. Figuring this may be my issue. I have animals so I am frequently getting errors and cleaning the bottom out. I have the US version, but they seem to be basically identical. I also leave clothes on top of the unit which I'm now thinking they probably tell you not to do in the manual but who reads those! That will also help.
@@askmrwashywashy I opened it up. Being the American version it had one less screw than you mentioned. Everything else was the same. Lint was crammed in there, I needed a flathead screwdriver to pry it off and boy, does that paint come with it. I was hoping that would do it. It dried a little better, but a full flush of the system as described is required. Just hate this thing leaking on my laminate floor or lugging it outside, so going to get a hose and male-to-male adapter at the hardware store tomorrow. Thanks again for this! Wish LG made a better product, but it's my fault for expecting this with BestBuy reviews.
@@RoyHemphill Exactly, LG should have a much more accessible system to handle build-up of lint. They could even add a built-in high pressure lint wash cycle so it wouldn't be necessary to dismantle the machine unless there was an unusually bad problem.
This is definitely useful information to have, but my issue is that the machine is pumping water in and not pumping all of it out. I think it's the water level sensor. Do you have a video on that?
Nice video, quite detailed! My machine stopped drying and also there's water remaining on the rubber after drying operations (but not after washing, then it's completely no water on the rubber). Is this an indication that the condenser might need cleaning? or there could be something else blocked?
@@askmrwashywashy Thanks for the reply, I opened it up but unfortunatelly it is slightly different and i cannot access :( . There's no removable container as you have, it is "embedded" into the tub. Once i unscrew the fan on the top, there's a faucet (the water inlet) preventing me to remove a filter that could give me access from the top (not that i could do much from there). I cannot remove it, no access to the screws (too close to the edge side cover) and even if i could, the faucet is longer than the space available (i have no idea how to remove it). Seems i cannot spare the ~150 euros to call service :(
Hi, thanks for the video. I cleaned out a lot of lint and loose paint. I noticed some caulk like silicon(?) grey sealent near the heating element and sensor. It is damaged by taking ik apart. What type of sealant is advised to use, I imagine some kind of heat resistant stuff? Thanks
@@dnhawkins9275 try and use the cupboard dry setting. That way it wont overheat/overdry the clothes thereby having burnt rubber smell. Whats the model number of your washer ?
Having this issue but fan/lint looks good. However my heating element is not getting hot, any ideas? Getting the DHE error whenever it enters dry cycle.
Hi you would need to replace the dryer heating element but before you do that check the wiring that connects to the heater to see if it’s loose or has broken. On Lgs it’s the red one on the left near the water dispenser
Thanks so much for this video! I tried it twice now, but unfortunately the second time it doesnt seem to work. I dont have access to high pressure water so I poured water through and collected a lot of lint by hand. The heating unit works. Any other advice? Im not getting an error message but my laundry constantly stays humid. Thanks!!
Ok. Have this unit just about.2 years and I have to hit dry cycle 3 times on one load. Just followed these instructions. Not difficult for my old self at all. Doing a load now. Let’s see if it worked.
@@askmrwashywashy my goodness. It worked! I didn’t blast water as I’m indoors but I shoved a vacuum hose as far down as it would go then poured water down.
@@Oglulubell Thanks for the advice. I did the same. I wasn't going to drag a 150 lbs machine outdoors to save my back. Now clothes are nice and hot as they should be. I can see why the machine wasn't working properly. alot of lint in there.
Hey thanks for the video! We've been having trouble with our washer. We did everything that you mentioned in this video and it's still not drying our clothes. Do you have any additional troubleshooting suggestions?
hi sorry for the late reply. Yes. 1) You can remove the top cover and run a quick timed dry cycle. halfway through the cycle pause it. turn it off and unplug from wall socket. Put your hand on the heating element cover* careful its very hot, this is just to check if its getting hot enough. Should scolding hot. 2)Another thing you could try is switching off the water supply when running a dry cycle as the water inlet valve might be constantly dosing water into the drum during a dry cycle. its only supposed to do this intermittently. how long have you had your washer ?
Does this washer dryer you use have the drum clean function ? If machines that does, would it prevent this from happening? Or drum cleaning doesn’t wash away the lints that get stuck here ?
Followed your steps and didn’t have much lint however a more peculiar issue arises. When starting the dry cycle it kicks on just fine runs through the tumbling and draining process. As soon as it takes the cold water in for drying and attempts to kick on the heating element there is almost like a clicking noise in the control panel. I took the voltage tester to test power to the heating element, power goes on and off. The display in the front is also flashing on and off in the same frequency as the heating element power. I tried replacing the high limit thermostat and that did not help. Do you think it’s a bad motherboard or a bad heating element. No codes show up on the display asides from the it flashing on/off
Hi. Good on ya for going through all that diagnosis. Might be a faulty heating element. How much voltage are you getting when you attach the test meter ? I have a fisher n Paykel washer dryer that does almost the same. No fault code. Tested heating element Twas faulty. What resistance are you getting when you test the element ?

Hey so just had ordered a motherboard from eBay. tried the dry function again and the same issue occurred except this time I think it ended up messing up the new board as it lost power after trying to kick the heating element and never came back on. Continuity is good on heating element, voltage I cannot read because it only feeds the power briefly before turning on/off in a cycle like a blinker. It is possible that the board I got was had but I’m thinking you might be right and it’s the heating element. If continuity is good does that mean the heating element is fine? Could this be a power supply issue
@@askmrwashywashy unfortunately the screw from fan motor is very rusty and I can't apply lubricate to motor. It is very close to get broken. The fan is clear but the motor is noisy when is working. The problem is that i don't know how to search for replacement parts for this devis. Any tip will be highly appreciated. Thanks again
I just bought this brand new and it won't dry, just got it installed and tried to use it. Washing was good, drying was pretty bad. It's been 5 hours (2 1/2 in the morning, 2 1/1 at night) and the clothes are still dripping wet.
hi my lg washer combo direct drive is not drying my clothes. A guy came and clean out something with lint, and he put in a new pump, and it's still not drying. The clothes are warm when it comes out but soak and wet. What do you think is the problem? It's a 7-year-old machine.
Hi. Disconnect the cold water valve electrical connection that goes to drying part. The water valve might keep putting water into the drum during the dry cycle
I’m having the same problem and my machine is brand new. Online it said that it has to use water because it’s ventless and that’s part of the problem. It also said that you can wash a full load but you can’t dry a full load. So instead of me doing laundry every week I now gotta do laundry every 3-4 days just to stay on top of it
You keep hearing water as that's the self cleaning mechanism which is supposed to wash the lint away in middle of the drying cycle. Except when too much lint has built up, the cleaning fails, and instead moisturizes the lint, which the again moisturizes the air in the condenser instead of drying. Arguably, the water pump driving the cleaning mechanism has far too little pressure to do the job it's supposed to.
@@askmrwashywashy it not giving me any error, the only thing is that not dry. It could be like you said that maybe its dirty or did you think that I need to look the sensors to see if the turbine its not working well?
but what does the DHe error mean? I have cleaned out a gigantic amount of lint from this machine before and it worked for a few more years. This time, after cleaning a minimal amount of lint from the condenser (and fan unit), drying works for about ten minutes before giving the DHe error. You said you'd tell us how to fix the DHe error?
Hi. Try it again when it gives the error turn it off. Unplug it and feel the heater. If it’s warm the heater is working if it’s cold it’s not. Another way. Unplug it take multimeter and put it on continuity setting. Put one lead on one terminal on the heater the other on the other terminal on the heater. If you get no continuity the heater is broken
@@askmrwashywashy Surely the way I have been doing this all these years isnt wrong? By maneuvering the drum sideways, you can uncover the condenser securing screws and simply take the condenser out? then clean it out in some sort of sink. Forgetting to put a lint trap in a dryer must be the absolute worst design mistake I have ever seen! Especially when rather than admit their mistake and issue a recall and fix the problem, LG withdraws all their technical support to stop people asking them about this gaffe. I will never buy another LG product.
Honestly, who wants to put up with this bullshit? I’m as handy as the next person, but every video I’ve see on this contraption is a work-around for shitty engineering. The unit is loud, doesn’t dry, doesn’t clear the detergent dispenser, takes forever to cycle through, and only fits about 3 pairs of clothing. All joking aside, I’d rather have a regular washer and dryer in my living room, as goddamn coffee table, than ‘save space and energy’ on this POS. I moved into a unit where this device existed BRAND NEW. My first thought was, “oh, that’s cool!…Hah, would you look at that?!” That feeling quickly changed to, “hmm, this thing sure is loud and it takes a long time to wash/dry a load?”…”hmm, after 3 hours, these clothes are damp-damp?”…”Okay, I only loaded it halfway, why the fuck is it still not drying?!”…I hate this machine so much, I’m going to pull a ‘Michael-Bolton-taking-a-bat-to-the-printer’ on it before I move out and gladly pay for a replacement washer AND dryer for the next sap!
I own a home where the only option for my space is a combo washer/dryer and I had the same experience as you. “Oh this is neat!” to “I’m going to burn this house down with this godforsaken appliance in it”. I shouldn’t be having to contemplate taking my clothes to a laundromat when I live in a damn house. LG can suck me from behind for this one.
I feel your frustration. Problem with washer dryers is they are first a washing machine then a dryer. So it’s a wet environment. The other thing is the drying is condenser drying technology which is better but takes longer. If they used vented it would be quicker to dry
Horrible investment. I wished I never brought this crap. Now instead of doing laundry every Friday I gotta do laundry every 3 days. I understand about the load thing BUT I washed like 4 pairs of jeans. Dried for like an hour 20 minutes and it was still damp. I’m so frustrated. When I get a chance I’m giving this piece of shit 1 star every chance I get.
So are you suggesting that my tiny sister lift a 300 plus pound unit and carry it downstairs and outside???😮 This is the worst machine ever made. Do the engineers still have jobs??? O wonder customer service is so horrible on a 3 week old machine. ITS A 🍋 LEMON!!!
