Do they make one for HO scale?

Yes. Even better ones are made for ho. It's a German company, I wish I could remember the name. If you find it, translate the site and use PayPal

LGB do not make them for smaller scales as they are G scale only, however as someone else has mentioned, you can get other brands. It depends on how big your layout is. You can get small sanding blocks which will attach to the underneath of some coaches which help clean the track as they go around.

So you think the track cleaner is the best?

It certainly beats getting down on your hands and knees, but it does depend on how stubborn the dirt is. If the track has been out for some time then it may need a bit of brute force.

Worth the money?

Yes, i'd say so... it depends on what you can pick one up for. I bought mine second hand as it needed new cleaning wheels and a good overall clean. The cheapest alternative is getting on your hands and knees, however, the track cleaner gives you another train and it does all the hard work for you.

What’s a good price to pay for good used one?

That depends on a lot of different things. I bought mine for £150 a few years ago and just looking on eBay I can see nearly new examples going for £400! If you are willing to pay the shipping you can get one from the USA this link : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G-Scale-LGB-20670-Yellow-Motorized-Track-Cleaning-Diesel-Locomotive/352219941994?epid=1624599899&hash=item5201f1cc6a:g:kFoAAOSwUwFaGvoS is one which was sold recently. Keep an eye out on the usual second hand pages or even forums such as g-scale central as they can come up at less than £300.

Railpro and battery power! Deadrail is the way!

It is certainly easier. Plus, you could use the cheap plastic clone track too! You would save a fortune.

Respectfully Sir, I would NOT recommend any of the methods shown EXCEPT for the motorized LGB Track Cleaner. We have over 30 years experience of LGB track in our backyard and ONLY recommend that Track Cleaner for lightly tarnished track OR the Red LGB Track Cleaning Block, Number 50040 for REALLY DIRTY track. This Track Cleaning Block is NOT abrasive, but polishes the track to a mirror finish similar to that which you achieved with the Brasso. Also, it just takes a few strokes of this block to get the track from really dirty to a perfect surface - it is not a long, tedious process and is my favourite "weapon" when running LGB trains. The huge problem you have with the sanding pads you demonstrated is that it slowly grinds your expensive track to powder. Don't ever do that. We have both the Track Cleaner and the red Track Cleaning Block. In summer, we run the Track Cleaner around the track twice before we play and no problems. After winter, when the track is so dirty we don't even recognize it, the Block restores it in very little time. We do several meters in 5 minutes with the Block... It is HIGHLY recommended. PS: I have had my red Block for many years and it has had extensive use, and I am still on the original pad... Never needed replacing yet. PPS: The polishing tyres on the Track Cleaner are NOT rubber, they are made of a similar material to the Block. Don't put Traction Tyres on those wheels.

It really depends on how dirty it is and how often you are using it. Some of my track was outside for many years. Ideally, the Red LGB block will remove most dirt and stains.
