Ric was testing Pirelli tires, it was not the same test. Liam has demonstration tires, impossible to make great times.

It doesn't mean anything. He is not on the right tires because it's a filming day so the speed will never compare to an FP session.

Always means something. F1 teams use every available track time to learn something. The teams are smart enough through data and projections etc.. to test and evaluate things. They would have absolutely had targets for Lawson.

Yup cos part of reserve driver is these tests/filming days. Last year DR drove the RB19 2 days after the SILVERSTONE race… remember. This is exactly the same.

It would be great if he puts in irrefutable competitive times.. It wouldn't hurt his chances. That redbull always sounds different from the rest of the field. Sounds nice in the down shifts

@@Mandykiss4500 there are so many variables, being 2 tenths off some benchmark time they derived based on a bunch of assumptions (including how they *think* the Pirelli Academy tyre will perform) is nothing. Also, given he hasn't driven an F1 car for so long, again, 2 tenths is nothing.

guys, it does mean something just like RIC had test for RB19 last year before he knok out poor Nick the team have tha data of the tire and the waether and ofcourse the time lap of the car, which they can use to compete the data with the driver in the same car even though it's in different day/weather we called it calculate :) and thats how they can calculate and simulate the idea lap timing for every races even for different drivers and also Max has take his turn, making it even more accurate on the data matching I'm even wondering hows Schumacher's lap time coming with tho.

So far, history indicates that only Ric can match Max. Possibly Ric driving style is much more suitable with Red Bull car than RB one.

everyone is focused on the timings, and seems to forget how well he went in his 5 race stint last year. That is the only real measure we can have, some arbitrary targets at a demo day are meaningless, and watching that video, hardly looks like he was on full chat either.

New Zealnd has olympic champions consistently eg Peter Snell, Murray Halberg, John Walker, Danton Loader, Lisa Carrington ,the Evers Slidell Twins, women's rugby 7s team, field hockey 1986, numerous rowers to name a few. We are county of 5.5 million. We have olympic sailing champs Burling and Luke and Barbara Kendall. AND don't forget the All Blacks lost the world cup 2023 to South Africa by one point and it was admitted the ref disallowed an ABs try due to mis interpreting the laws and then later he admitted an error in penalising Ardie Save and apologised to Save on the field but still allowed the penalty kick to SA which Pollard kicked successfully. I read a strange rumour that Red Bull was a bit underwhelmed by his laptimes, as they were 0.2 seconds slower than Max's average laps. I mean, if that's true.... since Checo is about 0.7 seconds off the pace of Max these days they should give Liam the seat immediately, right? But which laps by Max were they talking about? What were the conditions of the track (weather, temperature, not as rubbered in as during the practice sessions or the race, etc etc). How do you even measure these things 😆

Redbull çlosed booking. There is no-one else there. Pirelli supply a prescribed set of soft tyres, but they are not race soft, they are a different compound again. Time comparisons are not real world, but to projected times given the tyres and the conditions.

Was his time competitive, compared to Checo? I'd like to see him take Yuki's seat, with Yuki promoted to Max's teammate. Rumours circling that Checo could be replaced by Riciardo are honestly, weird. By all accounts he's slower than all of them.

Obviously you use -Accounts- that are not factual. He set a time testing that put him on Pole Position in front of Max. This leaves the same driver you claim to be slower than all......faster. If Yuki was to take the seat next to Max, this would have already been done. This is not weird.
