03:30 "Only accessible by licensed professionals and does not give any personal information" Yeah right. That might be for now, but eventually people will learn how to hack this system just like every other internet related thing. Think about it, some creep who has access to one of those cameras mounted on his car sees a woman he is infatuated with and uses this system to gain info on her.
The tag belongs to the state. The repo companies were using them BEFORE anyone else. There is no private info added, just where the tag was scanned. You can't do anything about it it doesn't track you or your car. You won't ever rid of it, because the law uses it to find where they scanned a murderer's car, or something to that effect. Also, camera car drivers scan at least 30k plates...a week...Easily.
Illegal tag searching that isn't ordered by the courts to make this legal!! Unwarranted searches not by a judge to order this legal is a violation on private property!!! HUGE LAWSUITS can pend on the company and the drivers of the tow truck or unmarked car with cameras!!!!
I can’t believe as a nation that values our freedom above all else we have allowed law enforcement an repo company’s to use these the Supreme Court in my state has upheld them makes me sick
I was selling cars in 2010, this guy buying a brand new Camaro was showing me how his repo truck works. It scans everyone it sees and instantly notifies driver of a match.
@Lawless you pay taxes on it so you don't own it just like a house you never truly own it even if it's paid off if you don't pay the taxes it's seized
@Lawless doesn't matter what you say or believe once you leave your house and go outside you have no privacy and your cellphone has more information about you that is sold to many businesses
No private citizen or entity should be allowed to have this type of equipment. Private entities never have a right to engage in government style surveillance of the general public. Actually, the US constitution does protect against unwarranted search and seizure. It is called the fourth amendment and it makes no distinction between government and private search and seizure. It is time our courts stop making excuses for private lowlifes and their abuses of our rights.
@Peter Miller THE FOURTH AMENDMENT IS WHAT IT IS REGARDLESS OF ANYONE PERIOD IF ANYONE INVADE YOUR PRIVACY..THEY CAN BE SUED OR INCRIMINATED PERIOD ..DUMB ASS!!!
Dude if you have something that belongs to someone, in a contract!!! they have the right whether they are any kind of entity, to look after it, or to retrieve it, and by all means ...I'm not disagreeing on the equipment or tactics they use, all PEOPLE have the right to POSSESS what ever they want as long as they do not harm the PUBLIC!!!..just dont envade my person!!!!
This story is incorrect. As an ex repo agent myself, I’ve used these cameras to spot vehicles that were up for repossession. We do not store that data on any computer system and we can scan thousands of cars a night. Or during the day sometimes. When we get a hit, we pull up the repo order. If we don’t have an order, we make a phone call to get one. Never the less, that information is not stored anywhere but on the truck or camera car.
Hey the data is actually stored in drn network. So when that vehicle actually does come up for repo it's called an advanced alert. This is a real job 💪. Good money and you should try it sometime.
No it is not, but when you sign that contract, it states that I have the right to get the collateral by any means necessary, as long as I do not breach the peace while in the process.
It is there business that's how they find out if you ain't paying your vehicle, stolen cars etc. Its private info and if you haven't done any you got none to worry
It's still creepy...we had a guy with a not so nice car and these cameras taking pics on our street....going slow by the houses...tried to tell me he was with Google maps...but then I found out Google cars are marked not unmarked. Creepy
Repossession is not legal, that's why they have to act like thieves and basically steal cars from consumers. If a consumer were to call the cops, the repo agent would be made to release the car. If it were legal, why don't they just knock on your door vs showing up at 3AM unannounced?
@@chelle315 Repossessing property while avoiding confrontation does not make it illegal. Also, no, calling the cops would not require the repo agent to release the car. The vehicle is owned by the financial institution or lienholder, not the driver.
Start taking off your rage if you get pulled over. Tell the cop. The f the cop still fines you tell the judge. You or I can’t go to the dmv to get info on a tag. Repo comp a s a private company and should not be able to do this.
I think it’s time to people start taking their license plates off their car is that they own and then if they get pulled over by the police and get fined for it you just go to court and tell the judge you don’t like your privacy to be on some repossessed companies database because you do have the right to privacy
The lienholder should report the car stolen, and only law-enforcement, received those plates, and if the vehicle is recovered they will be paid, but their won’t have any information
You'll be able to get 5 mi down the road before you get pulled over for no license plate. And incited and maybe told for whatever violations you have. You just asking to be pulled over.
I missed this reports on this and I've seen some of the cars around town. Can you imagine a nefarious candidate paying one of these companies intel on specific cars. Then paying criminals to sabotage peoples vehicles...slippery slope. Nothing like heading off rivalries as they say...
Yeah I saw a guy in one of these cars sketchy as f....I chased him down and said Can I help you and he tried to say he was with Google maps ....wrong..they don't have unmarked cars.
I think they should be part of the Federal Trade Commission Repo Is classified as a stolen vehicle, and every car that is recovered the repo company receives money Repo companies if they want more money They talk to the Federal trade commission
Sometimes banks have cameras on their exterior. Is it a violation of your rights that the bank videos of people walking along a public sidewalk. Would it be a violation of the bank's rights for you to video the interior of the bank if possible from a public sidewalk? This is something that one of those Constitution testers have to try. Stand on the sidewalk be sure you're not on bank property and start videoing the interior of the bank through their window. If the police come or the bank people come out ask them if you're doing anything illegal if they say yes ask them to take the bank cameras down.
Omg, we gonna have to outlaw photographic memory too,, cause if they see your plate driving down the road it violates your privacy and all. (Sorry I don't have a sarcasm font)
This is a violation of privacy and for those who can't understand that try removing you're head from youre ass !!!! Towing company's whom ever they are working for don't have the right to be taking photos of youre car period !!!! This is just another over reach of authority !!!! Only bad things can come out of something like this !!!
@@kevinhoward6607 my neighbor parked his pickup in my barn for over a month and the repo company couldn't find it. We had roles of hay stacked in front of it so even if they did happen to find it they couldn't get it out. He did get the payments caught up but none the less the repo man never got a dime.
@@Brett235 yep in your barn however if a replevin is issued in court the issue will then be handled by law enforcement or the repo agency and police assistance. Best advice if you do hide it and don't pay it. It will be had one way or the other
Yeah I'm a repo guy who works for myself a camera system cost you about 12 Grand little too pricey for me I just do subcontract work places like InstaCredit AutoMart TitleMax few crappy car dealerships down in the city of st.louis i get anywhere between 9 and 17 cars a week for 200-300 a piece sounds like a lot of money but then you start to realize half of it goes to insurance repairs fule licensing registration and just keeping your tow truck running and then another big chunk goes to taxes what you got to keep receipts for everything so you can write off as much as possible at the end of the year cuz you're going to get 1099 but after it's all said and done I can clear about $1,000 a week sometimes a little bit more sometimes a little bit less but I get to be my own boss I have nobody looking over my shoulder and I only work about 3 days a week if I work a full 5 days I work a little short half days...... Easiest fastest money I've ever made was a repossession of a pickup truck about three blocks away from the dealership The car lot owner was threatened with a baseball bat by the debtor for calling and harassing about his payment and he told me to go get it the guy wasn't even home but because it was a dangerous situation I charged six hundred bucks for that one and was done in about 30 minutes..... The camera plate readers work like this you buy the system you pay a monthly fee to access the website car dealerships that pay a monthly fee to that website can't put the plate number in of vehicle's they're wanting to repossess the tow truck driver just drives around and when you get a hit on a vehicle you stick a magnetic GPS on the vehicle then you contact the dealership or lienholder and tell them you've located that vehicle this works great for people who try to run out of state so now you found a car in Colorado that was purchased in Missouri somebody thought they could move to another state and never be found so as a tow truck driver you work up the cost for the repossession and the delivery fee to wherever they want the car dropped off and negotiate with the lien holder once that is all worked out you use your GPS to relocate that vehicle and go get it picking up a vehicle and having to move it and drive it across a couple of states can be like a $1,500 paydayor more depending on the make model and type of car if its was like a really nice new Mercedes or something I would charge a whole lot more then I would for say a Chrysler 300..... Also a lot of times the lienholder would like photographs of the car just to make sure they're not agreeing for you to deliver a wrecked piece of crap and it's worth the repossession...... Their carwas photographed and 9 separate times now how many times was it photographed by a police car with a plate scanner it's the same system..... And it's a news vehicle so that means it's going to be at accident scenes where police cars are present and reporting is going on..... Just something to think about
I’m not worried about this. I’m not a criminal, and I pay my car note. I like how Jason Demento is worried about privacy but he puts his REAL name out there and blasts himself on tv wearing a trump shirt...... that’s a lot more information about someone than a plate reader could ever get, durrr.
Repo companies get a limited information I can look up your license plate online I can get your name your number your email address who live in the address online repo companies only get a limited information so what's the problem it's not the repo company it's the information you can get online
I worked for crs in n.c i can definitely say apartment complexes generally arent considered public property. I was scanning around 10k plates a night while out running accounts.
Good thing people's personal information isn't on their license plates and is safely secured with the government. Otherwise people could buy these scanners and extract our private records.
we dont care about you only the vehicle, if your making your payment then you have nothing to worry about otherwise we are just mapping historical data
As a LPR/ Spotter for a repossession company in Texas. If your car/truck/bus/motorcycle is up for repossession my company will get it. We only use it for that purpose only. It only shows Make/Model/Year/VIN number/ LAT# and LON# and the order number. When we get a hit.. we call the financial company that the vehicle was financed through and give them the lat# and lon#, and last 6 of the VIN. Then I aquire a repossession order from said financial company via email. The email is then forwarded to my company and the wrecker driver.. At that point I own the car. Sorry just doing my job. But heed this warning... YOU don't PAY, WE will TAKE.
@@JaneDoe-or8nr We are the Dirty Dawgs in the industry. Every job has a Suck value. I'm sure your job sucks too. I run both LPR and a Tow truck but due to this Covid-19 crap... The Repossession industry will be the one that's hit the hardest. I've been out of work since March.
Lane Johnson Actually my job is lovely💕 I’m a well kept housewife whose up far too late watching YT videos. Sorry you’re out of work. Maybe it’s time for a new beginning🤗
Mine got repoed the day I took it out of my locked garage and showed up to work at a new job. Came out for my lunch break and it was gone. Lolz. I get that y’all will find it using the LPR, but, like how did they get it SO FAST? I hadn’t told my bank about my new job. I since paid the car off and got it back but I’m so curious….how did they get it in less than 4 hours?!? 😂😅
I am a repo car scanner that's my job if I'm not doing someone else is taking my check its just tag pictures for repo some people not pay there car payments s for many months and yrs too 8 months they just dont give cars away. Pictures go in data base for government and cops to find bad guys too FBI and CIA and cops for stolen cars scanning in Oklahoma I need 3 more cars or I lose my job you have to get repos if you dont you lose job
