Leadership coach Lisa Strutt lost her childhood sweetheart and husband John (47) to pancreatic cancer. For nearly three years, she helped her teenage children steer a course through the intensity of absence and the darkness of grief. Lisa takes on one the greatest taboos of this generation and the profound loss that threatens to paralyse the bereaved. She gives an uncompromising confrontation with death, opening to questions about how that might lead to living life more fully. It’s a transition from darkness to light and an exploration of new possibilities, experiences, and adventures. Lisa Strutt is an executive leadership coach and a Fellow of the Institute of Coaching (Harvard). Passionate about coaching, she challenges leaders to be purpose-driven, exceed expectations and create a better future for themselves. Following the death of her husband John to pancreatic cancer in 2020, Lisa regularly speaks about her experience to support other people, facing loss and grief move forward. She advocates for better conversations about end of life, death and dying. A lifelong learner, she’s an Alma of Boston College, has a PG Dip HR (University of Portsmouth), MA Hons (University of Edinburgh) and MBA (The Open University). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
