@@marmelos9453 They're actively working on updates every time they post; it will happen. They've actually been making steady progress. Plus, they are a small team. Things will take time, that's just how it is. People can't expect games to be announced and then immediately released soon after. For bigger game companies, sure they have the team and power to do so quickly. If you want quality, you gotta be patient. No one wants the Sims 4 again :/
@PoppyMack There are a lot of things, first of all there is after all this time by being so hyped no real gameplay trailers - I think 90% only the construction mode is shown and thats it. the developers are unknown and might as well scamm; that's not the case with Inzoi and LBY.
@@marmelos9453 they’ve been pretty open back when they started about who was added to their team to help the main guy who started it all. Also don’t think anything is really set in stone, which is why they have no date yet for anything; how it should be. Otherwise like a lot of with LBY gets pushed quick and kind of rushed, I’m more worried about LBY than Paralives for that. I think it’s best if games do take some time away rather than showing us everything and rushing development.
@@VampyAngelx trust me I know, all I'm saying is complaining about the situation won't make any difference, they don't care like you said so not much point to complain about anything hoping they're change 😅
When LBY was delayed last time, me and my friends were like "ah, they have learned from CS2". But this time it's weird. They wanted to allow content creators to do early access videos from the end of May so something big must have happened for them to delay it again so close to the date. I hope they can shed light on the reasons, maybe that will appease the community a bit.
They know they aren’t ready, based off of the feedback they got on their most recent videos. There’s no rocket science in understanding why they’re delaying it again.
I think it's them fighting with the publisher to have this delay, but they still greenlit the creator vids and others just in case the delay wasn't approved. And now as we can see, they got their delay. We all can clearly see the state of the game right now. And I can feel that the LBY team are very passionate & genuinely want to make a great game, so they definitely would not want a bad release to ruin their future (like it did with Cities Skylines 2)
@@NopWorksThis looks like very much the opposite. Rod Humble didn’t even do his usual thing, the CEO announced the delay. Seems more like they were moving ahead and they got stopped, not the other way round.
I don't mind the game getting delayed as long as we get a good final product. I just hope they don't end up giving another date and then delaying it again
same, I would rather they take as long as they need to give us a good final game at release, i dont know why they give specific timeframes when they aren't ready, its totally fine to just say "coming soon" until they know for sure when theyll release
@@oceanegougeon3025 they probably won't because they said an early access date will not be set or given out in the future. When they're ready for Early access they will release it.
I figure it would. These new simulation games don’t want to be talked about like The Sims. So, they might as well wait until there is no bugs in the game.
@@aubreyhuff46 The game appears to not be ready. But I still believe that they wouldn’t want to publicly present a game that could be mediocre compared to The Sims and yet still get backlash because it wasn’t up to par.
@@DetoxMyLifeWithTNichol I was disagreeing with the reason for the delay being the bugs. I don't think it's the bugs specifically. I think it's a combination of factors, including reactions to how Cities Skylines 2 released as well as some other inside issues.
Their original release schedule always seem far too ambitious. When the game was announced I was expecting we'd probably be able to play it about two years later, it's a huge game and will need a LOT of time in the oven. I'm not surprised at all now that it's been delayed again.
Yes. I'd rather wait for a truly kickass game that will blow EA right out of the water than get a mediocre, non-competitive product. It really sucks to wait, but oh god does EA have it coming.
I had a friend who was an engineer, who use to say "quick, quality, and quantity, but you can only pick two. There is no such things as all three." And what he meant by that was you can have a lot of things quickly but it won't be quality. You can have a lot of things with quality, but it won't happen quickly. And you can manage a quality thing quick, but it will only be one, not a plethora of features. You can't have all three.
It’s not quick though. It’s been in delevopment for a long time. Maybe they are fine tuning it and make it for higher end specs which I want. This isn’t for people with potato 🥔 CPUs
@@graceroxburgh8891 It's true that some simmers with coding experience can make really great CC. However I'm pretty sure if you asked they'd tell you it didn't happen over night. If the CC is high quality or there are a lot of moving parts, it probably took them a good while. And if they did it in one afternoon, high chance there are bugs or comparability issues. That's just how it works.
Shame, I’ve been seeing updates on this game for what feels like ages now, it looks and sounds good but I am glad they’re delaying their game until its completely ready 👏🏻
THERE'S A NEW ONE! New studio, Midsummer Studios, comprised of ex-XCOM developers and previous director of The Sims, is making a Life Sim game to compete with The Sims. It doesn't have a name yet, but that is one you should keep on your radar.
Life By You doesn't even have all the ages done. IDK why they're even doing early access without all ages of the characters made. The characters still all look ill and deformed, the lighting needs work, and I see nothing really fun to do in the game.
@@alanaramaactually interacting with customers would be a start. In both James Turners videos and Dr. Gluons videos we see the characters go to stores (James as a customer and Dr Gluon had a job there). In both cases, the place was empty and things looked pretty boring and uneventful. The crafting also didn’t look like anything better than what we already have in the Sims Series. Which could have been fine, but certainly not a selling point.
@@TheDawnofVanlife I agree with you on that, I wasn't sure if that was a case of they hadn't added enough people yet but you're right we absolutely need shopping to feel as social as it does in life. I know what you mean about the crafting but I'm not sure of alternative types of crafting, most of the games I think of crafting it's usually a similar system so that's just a case of my horizons not being broad enough and knowing alternative ways of crafting, were you thinking like a more interactive style of crafting rather than recipe selection style? It'll be interesting to see what changes or additional things we see put in during this time.
@@TheDawnofVanlife Correct me I'm wrong but I wonder if the emptiness had to do with the fact that we could fill the world with our own npcs/townies? I thought that was one of the things they were advertising or was that another life simulator game I'm confusing it for?
It seems like management in Paradox is going through a crisis. Which makes sense, they have really been bungling up their game releases. Somehow turning what should have been a big success, Cities Skylines 2, into an epic fail.
If Cyberpunk 2077 taught us anything, it's don't release your game until you're completely satisfied. I 'd rather wait 2 years for a game as perfect as the devs can get it than pay for a buggy, boring mess that's missing features. I don't know why they dribble info too soon. All game developers do this. It's a mistake. The time for hype is a few months before the game, not one or two years.
The purpose of early access is to let the users discuss and provide feedback on what they want a full release. Paralives was better in that regard as they haven’t changed the release date much.
It seems like it’s in decent condition for an early access, literally the main point of early access is to improve with feedback from players, something else must be going on
It's the loud minority online that is making the publisher nervous. If _some games_ hadn't taken advantage of the term "early access" and spoiled the original purpose, this would not be happening.
I agree but it seems only the small minority of very vocal people are heard. I would have loved to be playing in 14 days now who knows how long the wait will be because some could not just opt out until the fixes came in.
It seems to me that many players don't understand or don't want to understand early access. Everyone always talks about the early access release as if it were a finished game and expects unrealistic things. Maybe the confusion also comes from the fact that many AAA companies have been selling a few days of early access for extra money for years. So maybe people think that the game must be almost finished?
@@hokton8555 Which I'm sure everyone would have loved to help design in Early Access. We need to play with the character creator to see what the main problems are.
I'm glad it's getting delayed again because they have A LOT of work to do on the graphics it was the life simulation game I was the most interested in at the beginning but the graphics still looks very unfinished and outdated... I really really hope they work on it, we have a lot of amazing looking games nowadays
It was delayed indefinitely by the publisher. Thats not good. Sounds like corporate speak for we put this game on the backburner and may never release it.
DLC to me is surposed to expand the game you shouldn’t need it to have fun on the game. This is we’re the sims 4 goes along I think like yt titles are very much ‘challenge base game build…’ should playing the base game really be a challenge
I do not have an addiction to Sims 4 DLC as I don't play it anymore, but back then I didn't have an addiction to DLC what I had was hope in my heart that the DLC would fix the lack of gameplay issue.
I was the same I finally came to the conclusion the base game was not designed to allow improvement every expansion is like a mini game instead of the game with a few objects tossed in.
@@lance9249 That is really great wording for it! Exactly! And I don't want a mini-game, I want a full fledged The Sims game. This game did not give that to us.
The character models are slightly better. The animations are still atrocious and inhuman lmaooo. Like, who were they observing to get these animations?
I am very sad about the delay in the sense that I planned on getting it for my birthday in June and was super excited about that BUT I am very happy with the delay because it means that hopefully it won't be sh*t when it comes out for Early Access - at least in the sense of looks game wise as the gameplay aspect already looks good for an Early Access game and the fact they aren't giving a date IS way better so we can all just stop being disappointed - seriously.
I am on the discord and there is a big push for a closed beta. I really hope they do it because I think LBY has a lot of promise and it needs a lot of community involvement.
so many people were complaining saying they can't trust the company because they have pushed the date back again. All I could think was 'but if the game delayed it means it's not ready. I would rather play a finished game". Why are people so impatient. Finished game on release only please
It's not about being impatient. This is a very bad sign for a game to have multiple last minute delays after commiting to a release date. This one happened WEEKS before the game was meant to release and it was the publisher that stepped in to delay it, not the devs. There is a very real possibly this game is being canceled by the publisher. And paradox has canned a lot of projects in the past. I really hope I'm wrong but I'm not holding my breath until a definitive response is made.
Delaying it yet again (4th time now?) shows that the project management has its issues. You just dont announce a game to be released very soon just to delay it indefinitely.
I mean I’m impatient, and when the announcement came out I was just like “oh that sucks”. At least they’re trying to make a good game, which is more than EA at this point.
I am less worried about the delay, more interested in the fact the publisher pulled the plug this time. Does this mean ‘time to bake’ or ‘imminent shelving’. Also, the increased PC specs DAYS before this announcement (which means there are performance issues that still haven’t been fixed) and Dev silence makes me wonder if this is a first step to quiet shuttering of the project.
I know it’s early access so it won’t be perfect but the models and graphics absolutely need to be redone. The environments look lifeless and the models have incorrect anatomy. They also need to show what makes the game unique! We know it’s been in development for awhile but what do we actually know about it? What makes Life By You different and fun? It has no personality from what we’ve been seen so far.
Performance also, just days earlier they upped the PC requirements. I get the sense the game is just not running well…a similiar problem to CS2 and something the game still struggles with.
My only gripe is that there was no official communication from the studio. I had to come here to understand that the release has been pushed. Looking at Steam a few days ago left me wondering why it says "coming soon" and not "June X". I went straight to their RU-vid channel and nothing was mentioned there either.
This is a good thing, but they need to not announce a date until they are REALLY ready. I am currently playing 3 games in early access and the bugs are numerous. LBY needs to make the characters better looking for sure. I guessing won't be ready until next year.
As expected, every game that looks promising just gets delayed again and again and then it comes out broken and with less features than promised anyway
I personally think they over promised on the feature list. A few specific live jobs (not every job), shopping, and restaurants plus cars would have easily put them ahead of the Sims 4 and even if few stores were interactive but not enterable that STILL would have been better than the Sims 4. One of my favorite Sims 4 Mods is “go shopping” so instead of having my sims order online and get things instantly in their inventory they walk out the house and disappear to a store. After awhile I get a pop up to select what they bought. Works amazing for adding an extra touch of immersion to the game. And I didn’t mind the Sims 3 buildings in base game where your Sims goes inside and you can’t follow and you either get text box choices or can click to shop. Just that was enough!! The problem with Sims 4 buildings is they are just dead space filler or you have to go through a loading screen to go inside the building next door (if its not just a shell). Even if a life sim game had smaller open neighborhoods and a few click to interact “shells” it would still be better than Sims 4 vanilla. Another favorite mod of mine also adds ‘click to shop’ (not just window shop, actually buy things) to the henford on bagley decorative buildings. This is an effective way to do rabbit holes without taking on the taxing resource demand of a fully open world. And also if you can go in every building, every building has to have an interior. Interactable shells just need programers to program interactions on the shell. I was excited about skateboards and the actual travel looked really fun). But a lot of ither things looks stretched to thin. Like they were there, but not complete. One of the reasons they were proably starting without life stages is they promised no rabbitbholes. There was a reason Sims 3 had school be a rabbithole building with click to interact storytelling. In order to make the game work, there has to be a line somewhere. When they added a active careers expansion and world adventures expansion they got to introduce bigger gameplay to an already fun interactive base game and build forward.
@@TheDawnofVanlife I don't think they overpromised at all. They are ambitious. There's no reason this couldn't be made, but it would need the support of the community. You're basically telling them to be one notch better than a 10 year old game.
They already have most of those features in place anyway. The hard technical part of the work is done... what they need now is a great deal of polish and testing. I am on the discord and there is a big push for a closed beta. I hope they consider it.
@@Relevart9169 Well... what features exactly? Drivable vehicles: in. Hotels: in. Open world: in. Modding tools: in. I'm struggling to think of a major promise they've made that isn't already in the game... other than kids. And it's hard for me to imagine they'd leave early access without kids.
I feel early access would work with Life by You, I expect bugs with games in early access, but it also helps build a community with feedback and convos in Discord
There needs to be a reckoning in the gaming world. They will only sell what we'll buy and they need to realize we're not going to put up with this bs any longer. I'm glad players of Cities Skylines took a stand and stopped supporting the game, but I hope LBY can turn itself around so they don't end up in the same boat.
Based on the fact one of the early gameplays someone left a baby home alone without consequences, I am still unconvinced it will be better than the rest. It might be marginally better than Sims 4 with some fancy graphics if they fix some of the clear gameplay gaps from the initial review copies they sent out. Looking forward to see how Paralives and InZoi perform. Both seem to have really motivated developers behind it. And I think they will both be good games for different types of players.
Creating a decent life simulation is complex, very complex. The Life By You team don't want to settle on decent, not even on simply good. They want excellence. They are passionate about their game. So, they prefer taking the time it demand and not rush anything.
I appreciate how blunt and real you keep things, I HATE cities skylines 2 and I was such a fan of the original. So sad that a lot of publishers are just dropping things that are incomplete. I get the pandemic happened but like come onnnn how long will be suffer
I'm actually kinda relieved, tbh. To me the gameplay, graphics, and optimization didn't look anywhere near ready, even for early access. Even when they pushed it to June that was waaaay too soon. Glad they've decided to pull it for now. We need good games to compete with the Sims, not rushed games.
The thing about the whole "great crash/reset" is that indie videogame industries ARE FLOURISHING. You don't have to sink billions of dollars to make a good game, an original idea (or even just building on top of a genre with a unique new point of view) can make your game so famous.
nooo i was so excited for it to come out soon. but tbh i think its actually a good thing because it was have more time to cook, and be more polished when its finally out. i guess we'll just have to wait a little longer then. i wouldn't mind waiting longer if it means we can avoid a cities skylines 2 or even a sims 4 type situation where it comes out rushed and with a lot of bugs and performance issues or lacking expected features.
I'm so jealous that you got to play in early access. I really want to give this a try. I wish they would at least estimate when they THINK the game will be ready: the end of this year? next summer? 2036? Not have a general idea makes me feel nervous that it will never come out. Will InZoi and Paralives beat LBY to the market? I hope they at least continue releasing the videos so I can live vicariously through them.
InZoi definitely will. Just look at what they've already shown. Fully polished realistic graphics, animations and what looks like at least mostly fleshed out gameplay. Paralives is gonna be the big question. That one's an indie developer, so has a chance to take a lot longer than a triple A, but it's been in production for so long they're playing the "slow and steady wins the race" game. I for one have my popcorn ready and a seat at the races booked.
I think people are being way too critical about this game. It’s sad how they really tried their best in a short time and to release it asap, but of course some stuff just have to be improved, like character design. I still think they are doing a great job and finally giving some competition to EA. I hope they will actually improve it so we get to play it by the end of this year… I don’t want these new games to flop 😔
Id rather they just didnt put any date of release tbh. I dont mind waiting as long as its a finished product and not a glitchy buggy mess thrown out quickly for a cash grab.
I'm loving this company more than EA because they are deciding it's still not ready and perfect enough for early access, and it's good they have delayed it again, EA would just release something completely broken
This is honestly relieving as someone who is most excited to play Life by You, *and* have seen how Cities Skylines 2's failed release pretty much snuffed it out. As people have said: lots of things, like Character Models & animation, aren't looking fine rn, I want the game to be a success, and launching in this state will be detrimental to its success. LBY team seems truly passionate & genuinely wants to make a great game. It would be a real shame if LBY's long-term future got squashed just because the higher-ups at the publisher forced them to rush it out. I'd rather wait for it to be in a better state before launch, and more time in the oven doesn't hurt. If they release it in this current state, even for an Early Access... sadly, I just can't help but think that it will flop. LBY not going for stylized graphics has already alienated tons of potential players; there's no need to make their chance for success even slimmer by rushing out an unfinished product.
Delays don't matter to me. As you said I have never minded waiting as long as we get a good product. But I disagree with you about the theme or the purpose of the game, because I think the name is self-explanatory enough. I think players will be able to create exactly the game and quests and purpose they want, or download someone else's idea and tweak it to their heart's content. And if that's the case, I'm here for it
I lost interest after watching one of their videos when they said they had made the decision not to pick a specific art style... Such a weird stance in game design.
They picked an art style that will work with many mod styles instead of overly cartoony or over realistic the player can decide. You like a world of Legos like Sims 4 you could mod them or go realistic.
I was on Steam and I checked it supposed to be out at June 4th when I went back to see if it came out it wasn't out yet and this time I couldn't tell which date it comes out early access I think they delay it again
I'm glad they delayed it again... the game do not look ready... I don't know why they don't improve or update the graphics, 3D models... idk if it's bcause technical limitations of their engine, lack of experience or what is it... but they need to fix they way their game looks...
If it’s playable set it for 20$ early access. Yes players will always want more out of a game. I’ve played 40+ hrs of the new life simulator Denizen the last few days. Barely flushed out with all that is possible, but it’s kept me entertained. As long as there is gameplay/no real issues technical wise, then the best decision is early access. I’m a strong believer in early access. It gets people excited for the additions that will be made. As long as you have 20$ worth of content to play why not. I feel they are taking critiques way too intensely. Put it out and see how it goes and make tweaks and add ons. All my opinion obviously.
Biffa and Overcarged egg and I think City builder plays actually had a sit down meeting with Collosal Order about CS2. if you go on Biffas recent video he mentions everything they spoke about. The devs know that this game was not ready and i honestly with Paradox needs to take a chilll pill. there is no rush for anything. If the game works people will play it.... hell anything besides broken sims 4 game is better than anything. I understand there is alot of competition for life sim games, but honesly if you have a full pledged working game... people will play it.
they are getting overwhelmed and overambitious, thats their problem. i know they want feedback, but it seems like they're taking EVERY idea that EVERYONE throws at them and trying to implement it into the game. at soem point they have to step back and realize not everything can be accomplished and that in the end its THEIR game
They should continue to take their time and wait until the game is ready. With that being said I believe companies give to much information about games that are still in development. In my personal opinion I would prefer to hear about a game when it’s developed and has a release date.
I stopped playing The Sims series during TS3 because they broke it so badly. I haven't put a single dime into TS4. I was really looking forward to this being released tomorrow, but if they're making it better, I'm happy to wait.
Guys, i just started up sims 4 while watching this and i have a few expansion packs and packs BUT EVERYTHING IS GONE!! It says i need to buy island living while I OWN IT does anyone know how this happend and how to fix it?
Having gone through the DLC gauntlets from Paradox (EU4, Stellaris, CK2, Cities Skylines... etc), it's not like the DLC situation with Life By You would have been any better than whatever was going on with Sims 4.
So I have pain in my heart as this delay because it was 15 days before early access release. Further there apparently was a post by Rocio that office hours have been cancelled "while decisions are made". That scares me. I have been emotionally invested in this game since the first announcement video. My heart hurts. I've already had people go back to some of my previous posts and say "I told you so". I guess because I am in a true niche of only The Sims games that I maybe I am just not as aware of how some of these things word because I thought early access was to give them more feedback and have them finetune and fix all the things that just weren't quite right yet. I was prepared for that. I was ready. I was counting down. I had prepared to take time off from work for it. Now... I just hurt.
Either they need more polish or more likely there is something that isn't working right as of now. Widsom from Gabe Newell ''Late is just for a little while, Suck is forever right?''
I'm not deeply in The Sims community like that because I prefer playing Animal Crossing, so is there a life simulation hierarchy that I'm unaware of? Of course AC is a life simulation game, it's just different from The Sims right? What am I missing? 😅
Yes, we know and understand, but the vast majority doesn't as proven by the responses of a very loud minority online. Unfortunately this game is profit driven - not supported by Patrons, so they have to "play the game".
I’m all four games literally just taking their time and giving us a good game but early access is meant to be buggy and a little crappy and three delays last minute back to back🧍♂️
Based on the many reactions to the game, not everyone knows what early access means. It seems to me that the majority of players were expecting a finished game.
yep, you are completely right! LBY is a game with a lot of promise, potential, and they care about the fans and feedback. all really really good signs. but the characters and a lot of other assets look pretty crappy and 2010 like. it will take a LOT of time to fix! it is what it is
I know Paradox Interactive quite well as I mainly play their games. The thing with paradox they're trying to branch away from their top down grand strategy games with RPG elements, into a bigger market... if you think EA's bad for paid DLC... oh boy simmers wait until you met Paradox! Europa Universalis IV, 34 paid DLC's 4 free, and the game is still actively being developed by paradox, DLC #34 is by far NOT the last probably another 20 before they're done. Stellaris 25 paid 1 free, still being developed still monthly news if not biweekly... then their crusader kings 3 which is newer but already paid DLC pumping out hand over fist by paradox. The only thing I can say is when these games release new DLC the developer atleast releases massive content patch usually with new gameplay features. Life by you is something different by paradox as well Vampire the masquerade - bloodlines 2, both been delayed, the vampire's first gameplay trailer dropped 4 years ago and still no official release date. Here's the thing in closing, Paradox isn't doing life by you from bottom of their hearts or passion for game developing, they're doing it because they see DLC you guys have paid for with the sims 3 and sims 4, and paradox wants that action. I am gonna guess they also see sim fans will pay for DLC packs for DLC packs... simmers will pay $40+ for a shallow experience expansion pack just because it has a cool hairstyle. Anyways, good luck with this game it will be a glorified cash shop.
Inzoi looks much better but I think if life by you will add something unique like Demons / angels / ghosts / elf / kijin / beast man / vampires / witches/ evil spirits it’s could be a game changer
The reality is the players can do most of that themselves with the mod tools. The world creations are going to be insane once modders get their hands on it.
Just don't announce a release date so soon, keep it to yourselves until you're absolutely sure you'll be able to deliver... Like wtf are they doing? That's ridiculous.
I agree, it's better to delay a game until it's fully done, and we say this many times when we get a game that's buggy, or incomplete or both, and still many videos that I've seen have a negative tone about LbY being delayed...
I was surprised because I organize my release dates on my Steam wishlist so I saw the change immediately 😂. As a City Skylines avid player, CS2 was definitely a botched release. It was pretty much unplayable for me at first and I haven’t really played it since until they fix most of the problems. The CS2 debacle definitely had a factor with the LBY release change. And FYI SunnySide’s release date was pushed back by a month to June 14.
