orchidsnlime Hi! I'm new here and I really like your videos. Would you recommend someone to move to Canada? I'm Brazilian and here everybody needs to go to college with they want a "good life".... In Canada is the same? Or can you have a good life without university?

It really depends on what you want to do with your life and that requires education or not. For example being a doctor without going to a college might be very difficult ha ha. It really does depend on your profession. Some jobs are easier to get when you have a degree or have completed high school. But just like any other part of the world there are people in Canada who are very successful and have never completed even high school.

I came to Manitoba a few years ago as a young African American I have to say that for the first time in my life I did not feel that the people around me were afraid of me. that was a very beautiful feeling not to feel that Racial tension from the United States. One reason I am moving to Canada.

Thank you for the informative insight. I once considered Canada as the land of fair opportunity (despite racial or gender differences). Hence, Canada is the best destination in existence that vigorously promotes racial diversity and fair opportunity for all. I always imagined becoming a "career woman" after the completion of my Master of Health Admin. degree in the states. Then, relocation to Canada, gaining more experience in the health industry, and eventually initiating the development of a non-profit organization to promote patient advocacy for individuals of low-socioeconomic statuses who conceivably receive compromised quality of care dictated by their lagging income. This being mentioned, life in Canada is evolving. Prime Minister Trudeau won't be in-party forever. And the embarrassment of Trump in the states proved how a nasty apple in-charge impacts all. Who knows what will transpire once Prime Minister Trudeau is no long in-party. Thus, my dream of relocation to Canada has been placed on-hold... likely, forever in this lifetime. I dreamt about relocation to Canada before reconciliation w/ my current partner of 7 years. And well... my partner is patriotic and he has his heart set on the states. In short, I don't foresee myself relocating to Canada for as long as he and I are "an item". I still plan to visit beautiful Canada. My dream of promoting patient advocacy in Canada is met w/ a halt as I'm now a homemaker in the states. Canada is truly Heaven on Earth, eh? Yes.

Cold: sometimes. as one who has lived virtually all my 72 yeares on Canada, I have seen temperatures from a low of -45C (with an added 60 MPH wind!) to +37C (one hot scirocco!) and that day the tarmas was melting under my feet, so I needed to bne VERY CAREFUL before entering a building, so as not to track that black oily tar in on my shoes! also when within less than about 15 feet of a parked car, the stench of anti-freeze (ethylene glycol & water) was markedly strong! So, yes, you will need a well insuklated parka and a tuque in the wonter, but in the summer, let the ladies bring their bikinis! (and don't forget the subblock, as even this far north, the sun can cause you trouble if you're not careful.) Wide temperatuere changes are also common day to night as well as seasonally.

You concentrated a great deal on the weather. Interesting. And yet you did not describe the factors that account for variation by region. The Atlantic provinces (maritimes) and the Vancouver region generally have slightly milder temperatures. because of the ocean. The Prairies are damned cold but the weather in wintewr is dryer so it doesn

Hello there greetings from the Phillipines :), thank you for the informative video about life in canada and what to expect.. I have a suggestion that you should also do a vlog and a video that talks about what to expect in Vancouver Canada, I have heared rumors and hearsays that one of the main problems in settling and moving in VanCity is the struggle of finding a Shelter to stay? also has issues with food prices which is at high costs .. thats why I request that you should really do tha vancity topic and what should people like me from Philippines should do to prepare myself on moving there.. thank you once again and Good day :)

Poutine is "Poot-IN" your health to a wreck! (sure people love the taste, but there are healthier things to tickle your tonsils with! (somehow this brings back a childhood memory when I was about 6 years old, in the schoolyard of Brantwood Public School in Oakville ON. As I looked across the playground, here was a boy about my size with a bright red apple - the size of his HEAD! (Oakville is located on the shore of Lake Ontario, about 20 miles west of Toronto, and not all that far from the Niagara Fruit belt, a VERY fertile area for many edible crops. Grapes are another, so you can go there with the thought of buying either the grapes or a concentrate to make wine with. (One I remember my dfather making was "sparkling pink Catawba"! This was the wine that EXPLODED! so it had to be kept in heavily wired down glass bottles in strong wooden cases under the huge workbench in the basement workshop, which was surrounded by solid cement walls!) Ontarians sometimes call this type of wine "soda pop wine", and it used to be popular with young adults. So instead of betting unhelathy with Poutine, try and start off "with a BANG!"

Could you please elaborate on Canada's medical support. I read news about how wait time at clinics and hospitals are long and sometimes patients are misdiagnosed only because the doctors have too many patients to tend to.
@karanolan
@karanolan 6 лет назад
Smita Dhar wait times at Walk in Clinics for non urgent things can vary by location and clinic but I have waited an average of 1-2 hours in my lifetime. The longest I have waited is 3. For things like ear infection, strep throat, lung infection, or a rash. In my city we have an urgent care centre and two emergency rooms. The urgent care is an old emergency room in one of the older hospitals. It's open everday from 9am-4pm and mostly handles things like broken bones, sprains, superficial cuts that require stitches. If you are unsure if it is an emergency you can go to urgent care and they might transfer you to the hospital. For example I know someone who went in with abdomen pains and thought it might be kidney stones but it was appendicitis. They then transported the patient to another hospital. Wait times for urgent care have never exceeded 4 hours for me. The emergency room is a lot more varied. When my father was having chest pains he got admitted immediately, when I hit my head I was admitted immediately, when I fainted at a grocery store I was admitted immediately. If there are signs something is very serious: symtoms of heart attack, stroke, trouble breathing, or a head injury, you get seen almost immediately. If you have a broken bone, pains without fever, or a wound that can wait you may be there from 4-8 hours in my personal experience. Children are usually seen more quickly as well. Patients can be misdiagnosed though, especially when it comes to a chronic illness. You have to be your own advocate and push the doctor to get a referral to a specialist or more tests if the diagnosis isn't found easily.
